Score 10.0/10

+ The 42LG5010 TV has an extremely clear picture and has a fantastic 'sport' feature which makes watching football and the likes seem like you are actually at the game itself (not just that we are watching through our Sky TV HD channel)! It has a very sleek design and appears slimmer than most LCD TVs.

+ A very well designed tv and good value for money, great sound and good image quality when using the hdmi connection when playing ps3 and for watching blu-ray films.

- Menus and switching channels is kinda slow, slightly delayed response.

+ TO ME SO FAR THE PICTURE QUALITY IS THE BEST ON THE MARKET YET,STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT GENERALLY ON LCDs.FANTASTIC DESIGNE ALTHOUGH THE THE WINE COLOURE COULD HAVE BEEN BLEND ON THE OTHER PARTS SAY THE TOP FRAME,REALLY REALLY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.I HAVE SEEN MORE EXPENSIVE TVS YET STRUGGLING PICTURES.

- STILL LCDs ARE NOT AS VERY CLEAR AND TOUCHY AS THE TUBE OLD ONCE, GETTIING THE BLACKS TRUELY BLACK AND DISTANT IMAGES ON THE SCREEN CLEARER THAN IT IS NOW.GENERALLY MORE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENTS,BUT AT THE MOMENT THE LG TOP THE PICTURE QUALITY FROM MY INTENSE OBSERVATION,NO PROBLEMS YET

Score 9.0/10

+ Good Interface, menu's are well laid out and logical. Lots of controls for picture and sound. Intelligent Sensor good for people who aren't sure what settings to use and clever how it changes based on lights/colours in the room. Picture is good from an HD source at full 1080p and SRS sound option gives the sound allot of depth.

- Sound can be quiet when not using SRS mode and in SRS mode some rare deep sounds can cause the tv to vibrate.

+ Good clear picture and sound, can be seen from any seat in my room(a big bonus when you have 2 kids fighting for the best seats)looks well in the room too...overall very pleased with this tv.

- The stand is a bit flimsy,
( ok as long as it does'nt get knocked) but other than that nothing to complain about.

+ Very east to setup. Image quality is awesome unless you have your face up against the TV in TV mode in which case you'll see the pixels (like on every TV above 32"). The sound is very good though you'll most likely want to buy a sound system to complement the TV - in which case the TV offers a "Turn TV sound off" option in the sound setup. The TV Menu's are really cool and stylish. The Build in free view is fast and it doesn’t take an age to switch between channels. It has 3x HDMI ports!! The contrast Ratio is actually 50000:1 not 15000:1 - perfect for gaming (see the LG site for proof). It also doesn’t weigh much.

- hmmm Bad points.... *thinks hard*. I really cant think of any.

+ Looks great. I don't have a HD source yet but the picture quality from a distance is fine. Sky HD will sort that! The set sits well back in the corner of my room and takes up much less space that my old 36" CRT tv. There ar loads of settings available and I haven't quite found the best all round setting, but it is easy to change from sport to movies. Very easy to install and set up. Has a top quality feel to it

- Non yet!

Manufacturer's Description

42" Full HD 1080p LCD TV
Whether you’re watching TV, Blu-ray movies, or gaming, this 42” high-definition LCD TV is a perfect fit. Equipped with smart features like an Invisible Speaker System, fully adjustable swivel stand, Intelligent Sensor which automatically adjusts picture, and three HDMI inputs, you’ll enjoy all the benefits of high-definition performance.

Freeview
Freeview is a subscription-free service that delivers up to 48 digital TV channels, including ITV2, E4, BBC3, and Film4-plus 24 digital radio stations, with no contract and no satellite dish.

Intelligent Sensor
Intelligent Sensor optimises the brightness, sharpness, colour and contrast of the picture within your environment to protect against eyestrain and reduce power consumption up to sixty two per cent.

50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
With a contrast ratio of 50,000:1, this LG HDTV provides vivid images, even in a bright environment, eliminating optical glare and minimising light reflection.

HD-Ready 1080p
LG HD Ready 1080p (Full HD) provides 1920 × 1080p picture resolution delivering incredible picture clarity and vibrant colours. This results in up to 5 times the picture clarity and detail in comparison to standard definition. 1080p television is the only way to fully experience the true potential of high definition gaming and blu-ray which takes you even closer to the action

HDMI 1.3 Deep Color / 3xHDMI
HDMI 1.3 supports 30-bit, 36-bit, and 48-bit colour depth. HDMI 1.3 eliminates on-screen colour banding for smooth tonal transitions and subtle gradations. It also enables increased contrast ratio, and represents many times more shades of grey between black and white.

Invisible Speaker
LG’s Invisible Speaker System has been fine-tuned by world-renowned audio expert Mark Levinson for an increased sweet spot. Breaking through the fixed idea that speaker grills must be exposed, this system provides a fully realized sweet spot, and powerful, realistic sound with speakers integrated into the panel design.
