+ Very simple to use and to get started. We bought as a first camera for our daughter - ideal to introduce someone to digital photography.

- Camera has to be turned on to review previous pictures and this leaves the lens vulnerable at this time

+ Compact, takes normal AA batteries

- Picture quality very grainy and flat, batteries run out quickly, menu not as intuitive as a Canon. The body feels cheap.

- You pay for what you get, in this case a very basic camera with a low resolution screen and not a brilliant final image.

There are 2 main types of camera: The SLR and the Compact. SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder.
