Kenwood Apps KCJS28 Combi , microwave

+ First time we have bought a combination microwave. Wanted a microwave with large internal capacity, and this model was the same price as large capacity microwave 'only' ovens. Have used all functions and it has worked well so far. Easy to clean around the grill, as there is enough room to get your hand between the grill element and roof of the oven. Programming it took a little while to get used, but then our previous microwave was fairly basic.

- The grill element actually reduces the internal capacity. Cooking a large packet of microwaveable rice was problematic. As the turntable rotated, the packet kept hitting the grill element and falling over (hence we don't buy the large packets any more). Not a total disaster, but something to bear in mind if you choose this model. The timer only allows you to set time up to 95 minutes. Again not really a bad point, but if you want to cook something for longer than 95 minutes you have to manually put it on again. It is also rather large, which may only be a problem if you have limited work surface space.

+ It is as good as the Neff I replaced it with, and for half the price.

- The opening and shutting is quite noisy
