+ Easy to use

- Not informed at time of purchase about the plate you have to put on when grilling to stop the knobs melting. Never owned a cooker where you have to do this before. This shows poor design.
Stainless steel top is now marked due to water boiling over, and the mark will not come off. Again this shows poor design and poor quality

+ Easy to use and easy to keep clean. When you finish grilling handle comes off to store inside grill area excellent space saving idea. Looks stylish and good value for money!!

- Oven is very low to keep an eye on things cooking on top shelf. Shows up finger prints!

+ The facia (knob) panel on my previous Parkinson Cowan cooker rusted after only 5 years and I wanted a sturdy freestanding cooker that would not rust to use in a rented flat where the cookers take a bit of a bashing. This cooker seemed to fit the bill and it had the newly required flame failure sensors which are now compulsory for cookers installed in flats. Value for money.

- The need to slot in the steel panel underneath the knobs (which is to stop the knobs melting) each time that the grill is used

Conventional ovens heat from the bottom so the top of the oven will be slightly hotter than the bottom. This is useful when you’re cooking lots of different dishes at a time. However, they do take a little longer than fan ovens to heat up. Fan ovens circulate the air so that you get an even temperature throughout the oven. They are quicker to heat up which means they save on energy and time. Multifunction ovens give you the flexibility to use different methods of cooking. They usually have both fan and conventional settings as well as pizza settings that will only cook from the bottom, giving you a crispy pizza, or top-only cooking that is very useful for browning.

Self-cleaning ovens can come with catalytic liners or pyrolytic programmes. Calalytic liners are the bumpy surfaces which line the inside walls of the oven. They absorb the food and grease and break it down so that the oven is easier to clean. Pyrolytic programmes run for a couple of hours and burn off all the grime in your oven at temperatures up to 500°C. As it gets so hot, the oven door usually locks so that all you need to do is sweep up the ash that’s left over at the end.
