+ Multi-functional device in a clever package. Great at syncing with Outlook 2007 on my Windows Vista machine. Great for keeping up with incoming emails over multiple accounts when I'm away from the PC. Slide out keyboard makes typing text for SMS and notes a breeze. Good memory expansion with the microSD slot, can keep a load of files and music backed up on the phone. Great connectivity, Bluetooth and WiFi are excellent. I can write software for it using .NET compilers.

- Slow to boot up (although it's not turned off much). Slow when multitasking (e.g. when trying to view contacts when it is synching). Alarm is poor, not much choice of sounds, no snooze facility and it does not go off if the phone is turned off. Battery life could be better. Windows Media player is a pain in the way it organises music on the device and PC, I either do it manually or use RealPlayer. Comms software and organisation of the software overall could be slicker.

+ Nice and compact - ease of use. Similar to regular mobile phone but with more features, especially slide-out keypad.

- Design isn't sexy enough. Battery life not great. Sound quality sometimes a little patchy.

+ Packed with features, great sound, decent camera. You only need to carry one device, instead of phone & pda. It looks like a phone, albeit a chubby one, with a proper phone keypad, until you slide it open and reveal it's business face. A touch-screen would make it pretty near-perfect.

- Navigation button is a bit ropey... you think you've hit it square on, but you find you have hit left/right/up/down.
It can freeze up, if you get a bit happy with hitting too many keys. Screen can be difficult to see in direct sunlight. No GPS.

+ Large number of features, smarter than a Blackberry, ability to add Java MIDLETs to run your own apps, good design overall but front buttons feel slightly like they're made from the lining of a chocolate box

- Battery life, slow and buggy OS and software, stores applications and runs applications in same memory space with no easy way to change settings, HTC disable the on board GPS chip for the UK market

- This phone is so slow it is almost unusable. You have to continously free up memory to ensure you can run multiple apps. Even when touching the Start button the device takes seconds to respond. There is also no support or acknolwledgement of a problem from HTC for this issue even though forums are full of people complaining. All HTC suggest is to free the memory. I have resorted back to my previous phone, even though it needs resetting every day. It's less trouble than a phone that hardly works.

+ It has all the elements of a pda in the size of a reasonably small phone. Much improved over the original models of this type of phone.

- Synchronising with sat/nav hands free and with a win XP pc have been troublesome. Software issues to the PC and the device being unrecognised by the sat/nav (old style Tom Tom).
