- On the heavy side, but I don't plan on moving around with it, so doesn't bother me. Battery doesn't last as long as I would have expected.

+ To be honest with you I would never have chosen a HP laptop but it was my daughters choice so we gave it a go. The design is sleak and classy and it has the separate number pad on the keyboard - a major reason for this laptop rather than others. Overall does what it says on the tin AND MORE. Very happy with it.

- No bad points - wouldve preferred it to be cheaper but then dont we all.

+ Huge screen fantastic visibility from all angles. Nice tactile keyboard and silent operation. First laptop and very pleased with performance. Very fast and does multiple tasks without hesitation.

- Quite heavy but does feel 'meaty' in a quality kind of way. If you want portability then I guess look elsewhere but as a replacement for a desktop it's ideal. The battery seems to discharge quickly so I tend to keep it plugged in.

+ I've got a quad core "desktop" PC for general everyday use, so this was purchased for 'leisure' use ( to be more sociable and not sit upstairs on the desktop whilst my girlfriend is watching the latest episode of Casualy, or whatever...!!) and I'm certainly not disappointed. With the T5800 core 2 duo cpu combined with 3gb of RAM, the laptop is no slouch; the 17" screen is excellent, good keyboard (including full numeric pad) and mouse/touchpad. Speakers are ok - bit tinny but not too bad. I'm currently listening to music on them streamed from the desktop pc and the sound is acceptable.

- A bit heavy (if you were intending to carry it around with you, this might be a consideration) and battery life a little on the short side under heavy use but hey, it's got that 17" screen to power...!!

+ It's a really good notebook for the price, dual core and a large memory for most things, I love the big wide screen and webcam. It comes with firefox pre-installed and it has skype too.

- It is a bit heavy but that's not a big problem,in many ways it feels sturdy and solid.The battery only lasts about 2 hours, but it comes with the mains cable, so I haven't come across any real problems with this notebook.

+ looks good, performs good, hdmi socket is could for connecting to a digital tv. The screen is huge which is great but inevitably this makes it a big laptop. Overall I'm really happy with it.

- battery life - it performs as advertised ,however this is my first home laptop and its easy to underestimate how much you really use it.I seem to be forever charging it. no carry case/pouch - you will need one really, if only to protect the gloss black finish

- size is a bit cumbersome but i did want a 17" screen so compromise is easy for the benefits of a bigger screen

We are not techno types and we are doing ok!
The screen is a good size for us as we were space-saving rather than having a new desk-top but it is probably not as easily portable as a slightly smaller screen laptop would be.

- None that we have found yet. Wouldn't want to carry it around for too long. In an ideal world a longer battery life would be good.

+ Quick start up, easy to use

- No latch to lock closed. Also the case shows fingerprints very easily, so could do with some sort of protective coating.

+ It is fast, good layout, easy to set up and use, and most important of all, value for money.

- it certainly cant sit on your lap for long as the screen size dictates the weight, which means it is top heavy and thus needs a stable base to sit on to prevent it tipping over, it isnt light so you dont really want to be carrying it around and the touchpad can be a bit tempermental.

+ Cracking widescreen laptop. Easy to use & setup in minutes! Recommend this a budget laptop.
