Hotpoint WT960 reviews: Front Loading loading, 7kg capacity washing machine

+ Very easy to programme and clothes come out clean at lower temperatures, the highest temperature I have used so far is 40 degrees and even towels come out clean at that temperature, but lots of my washing is now done on a 30 degree wash, I always put a calgon tablet in which I find is much better than adding vanish.

- This washing machines lies about the time left on the cycle. We've timed it on most washes and if it says 36 minutes that's actually nearly an hour. Also you cant do a 1600 rpm spin on a quick wash so you have to keep an eye on it and once its completed its 36 minute wash (after 56 minutes) you then have to put it on a separate 1600 spin becasue it'll only do a 1200 spin on the 'quick' wash. I've never owned such a poor washing machine. It hasnt even been cleaning my clothes properly even though i've given up on the quick wash and gone for the 40 or 60 wash which takes 2 hours.
This washing machine hasnt even got a hot water feed so you cant use the hot water you already heated up in your hot water tank so even though its A rated you are wasting electricity heating up water just for washing clothes. My worst purchase in years.
Even though we paid extra for the removal of the washing machine once the guys dropped off the machine they wouldn't disconnect the old washing machine saying that they are not allowed to remove it from the mains or water supply and i had to do this for them.

+ This is an exceptionally quiet machine - I keep having to check that I remembered to start it! Cycle times are also very good as if you manually select some of the programmes you can change the run times.

- Short wash only has an 800rpm spin - would be better if you could adjust this. Also the spin cycle is quite long.

+ This Hotpoint is so quiet you forget you've put it on - until it spins, but even then it's still quieter than my last machine. It has a quick wash setting and even a setting for "how dirty". I find the child lock handy too.

- Too easy to switch off, sometimes just by brushing past or leaning against the machine you can inadvertedly switch the machine off but when you switch the machine back on it does continue with its set programme.

+ EASY TO USE. HAS PLENTY OF DIFFERENT PROGRAMMES. I LIKE THE FACT THAT IT IS A 1600 SPIN SPEED AS SOME OF MY WASHING COMES OUT ALMOST DRY. ALSO BECAUSE IT IS A COLD FILL YOU ARE NOT HAVING TO HEAT THE WATER BEFORE USEI

- I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED THE FILTER TO BE MORE ACCESSIBLE INSTEAD OF BEING BEHIND THE BOTTOM PANEL

+ I like the programmes and the display features on this machine. Compared to my previous one, it has a quiet spin cycle, and has not moved from the spot since it was installed. The timer feature is handy.

+ The Hotpoint WT960P has proven to be a very good piece of kit so far, quiet and vibration free (if you put in an unbalanced load the machine automatically tries to redistribute the weight for smooth spinning). I particularly rate the time remaining function which allows you to see exactly when the load will be completed. The wide variety of programs is good, and you can specify the exact spin speed and temperature you want, together with a function to adjust the wash depending on how dirty the clothes are.

Nice and quiet, though while on 1600 spin jumps around quite a bit-- can live with this though as clothes really noticeabley drier than previous 1400hotpoint. Easy to operate and huge drum - cuts down on number of loads considerably. would deffinately be happy to recommend

- Not able to select spin speed to temperature eg if you want a short 30min wash you get 800 spin regardless, if you want faster spin you have to wait til cycle finished then select 1600 spin which adds further 20 mins to time.
`on/cancel` button took getting used to - regularly pressed this instead of `start`and wondered why was taking so long. Just a case of getting used to - no big thing.

+ Great capacity but also good for a smaller load when you can use the mini load feature which only takes just over an hour. Love the fact that you can see on the display how many minutes left till the cycle finishes. Great spin speed of 1600 means clothes are much drier than with my previous machine. Very pleased with this product.

+ Quiet machine that takes a decent size load.

- Had the machine one week and the door lock mechanism broke. Called out hotpoint maintenance who replaced the door lock mechanism. About two weeks later the problem returned. The door does not lock unless it is slammed shut before starting machine.

- The frustration of the audiable beep when the programme has finished, which means that you then have wait a couple of minutes for the door to unlock- why on earth does it not beep when the programme has finished AND the door has been unlocked???

+ Very quiet machine and aesthetically pleasing. Large drum allows plenty of rinsing space as well as holding bigger load. The start delay timer is very useful too as I can set it to come on early morning in the summer and then hand the wasing out in plenty time before I leave for work. The 30 degree wash works very well too.

- A 50 degree wash would have been useful and being able to adjust the length of wash for all programmes would also be useful for example if you have a bit more than an mini load but not enough for a full load - doesn't really need 1.5 hours.

+ Fantastic washing machine that's quiet and quick. Clothes are virtually dry when finished, so drying times are much reduced. Coupled with it's good energy rating, this makes it very economical (especially considering it has a larger than normal load capacity). Very easy to use, perfectly clean washing.

- The on/off button can be easy to activate if you brush past the machine. Not critical, as you can just turn it back on and it continues from where it left off.

+ Excellent wash quality especially at lower temperatures and with the 1600 spin speed the clothes dry much quicker and some can even be ironed as soon as they come out of the washing machine.
