- It wasn't quite square and so swapping the door over to open the other way round required brut force and many people would have either broken the attachment or given up trying.

- Bought as a replacement for a unit which was the same size, but the capacity is poor. The door seal cannot be replaced on this unit, you would have to have a complete new door!

+ Very good basic fridge, lots of room and generally well designed, even the infamous light placement causes no real issues as its only lighting whats in the fridge at the end of the day. Keeps the food very cold in my experience as evidenced by getting ice in soft drinks if turned up too high! Easy, no fuss installation, and low maintenance of defrosting and waste water etc (it takes care of itself)

- The adjustable shelf on the drawer is a little awkward to move and the fixed shelf at the bottom is very tight to get a two litre soft drink bottle in to say it is advertised as being designed for that purpose, however it's no real issue due to the capacity of the unit. The unit is a little on the noisy side when its recooling itself, but not overly, and it is the entry level model after all, if you want silence you have to pay a little more.

+ The capacity is very good and I found the egg tray quite quirky.

- The light is on the outside of the fridge and it can be quite dark inside, especially at the back. But I would still purchase this model again.

- noisy - always seems to be pumping refridgerant no matter how low the temp. is set, creates 'cold spots' within fridge - have had liquids freeze in the door compartment on a low '2' setting. suppose you pays your money...

+ The temperature dial is fixed above the door and requires a coin to move it; this makes it impossible to knock it by accident unlike previous Hotpoint fridges where the dial was inside next to the food.

- The interior light is fixed at the top of the door rather than further inside the compartment, this means that the back of the fridge is not properly lit unlike previous Hotpoint fridges where lighting was very good.

+ I chose the product for the attributes I required. It replaced a Hotpoint larder fridge which gave up the ghost after 24 years. I hope this one will outlast me!

- awful handle for opening the door which is too shallow in the main length and where it is deep enough to get a good grip to pull the door it is so close to the underside of the top you cant get your fingers in and/or hurt your fingers in doing so.
The light is positioned so all you can see is the door contents and items at the front of the lower shelves the rest of the fridge is in complete darkness

+ compact, easy size for the smaller kitchen. This frige is a lot bigger inside than orther of it type.

+ It's an excellent basic fridge with no silly little freezer section. Capacity is excellent and the design is functional and aesthetically decent (for a plain white fridge). My previous fridge was the older version of the same model, which lasted me 10 years - I fully expect this one to last the same.

- This was a panic buy as a needed a new fridge urgently. Always had Hotpoint appliances (they used to be made in Great Britain - not any more apparently!) and been very pleased with their products. However, this fridge is smaller than my previous one. Trays that would sit side by side on a shelf in my old fridge do not fit in the new one and I am constantly frustrated at not being able to get my shopping into it! If you need a lot of fridge space do not buy. If I didn't have a fitted kitchen I would have bought a bigger fridge but it needed to go under the worktop so I was a bit stuck for choice.

- I hate the temperature control thing at the front that you have to turn with a coin! I neverknow whether '1' is coldest or warmest and the instructions dont tell you.

- Compared to my old model this one is so much smaller on the inside. Lots of space has been lost because the interior walls have been made thicker to hold the shelves. There's only two shelves compared to three before. The lid of the butter/cheese shelf is difficult to open and the very small dropdown shelf on the door is useless. As for the new logo on the outside a child could have done a more stylish job.

- This model is not as good as my previous Iced Diamond and I was unable to get a cream one to match my other appliances. The door compartments are not as well situated and the light is completely in the wrong place.

+ Nice size, easy to clean, good price. We puchased one for our staff accommodation block which houses 29 staff. It was surprising how much they managed to fit into it before we bought them another one!!

+ Small neat fridge. Makes very little noise. Does not hold an awful lot of food (compared to our previous fridge freezer) but does hold a weekly shop with additional perisherables for a family of 3 comfortably.

- The fruit/veg draw could have been a little bigger but if you don't overload or you have a veg bag then it works out ok.

- If you have the door hinge opening on the right hand side the lighting in the fridge is appalling. Instead of having the lighting inside at the back or middle it seems to be right at the front and therefore this is a very dark fridge! We moved the fridge and had to change the hinges to the left hand side and found that the lighting is much better - but still not as good as it should be.
