Hotpoint FF200E Reviews: Frost Free, Energy Efficient, Multi fridge freezer

+ finish is good and doesn't feel cheap, lovely granite colour, warning alarm if door left open for long which is cool and helpful.

- Shelves in fridge don't seem to hold tall/normal things as salad draw and meat draw and wine rack take up such a big part of fridge not lot of room left for else!

+ Everything! Fridge brilliant. Large veg/fruit drawer keeps items fresh for much longer. Seperate meat drawer. Lots of storage space. Great for a family. wine rack. Alarm bell when door left open. Freezer adequate as I already have a chest freezer elsewhere but wanted access to smaller freezer in my kitchen. The drawers are deep so can easily store many larger items such as bread etc. I love it! Best purchase I have made in a long time. Woud defnitely recommend this fridge freezer

- not quite deep enough to fit a full size pizza in without having to take it out of its box. plastic top to one of the drawers comes off easily in your hands.

+ It's sleek with clean lines and keeps stuff cold.

- It's a bit noisy, and the doors open outside of its own width dimensions so you can't put the hinge side against a wall, or squeeze it between 2 other cabinets.

- FREEZER AREA NOT AS LARGE AS I THOUGHT BUT STILL SATISFACTORY -

+ Very good looks, good functions like super cool and super freeze.

- Sometimes feels a bit cramped inside, cant fit 2L bottles on wine rack (we dont drink therefore dont have wine. And the shelves dont have enought space between them. You'd only jus fit a can of coke on them.

+ Large salad drawer, ice-trays built into freezer drawers, well-designed, nice and quiet.

- a bit tall - It's diificult to reach the top fridge shelf.

+ The fridge and freezer compartments have independent controls. The salad drawer is large. I use this product for overflow storage from my kitchen fridge freezer, bottles, cans, things large a large chicken which the shelves and door compartments accommodate very well. There is a rack to lie bottles flat which is very handy. It is also great to have everything in the fridge at eye lever which saves on the backache.
The freezer compartment is surprisingly large.
It runs surprisingly quiet for an automatic defrost too.

- I really couldn't say there are any bad points.

+ Both the Fridge and the Freezer compartments are amply spacious. The internal design of the chiller compartments and the ice cube trays are innovative. All in all a great Fridge freezer for a very reasonably price!

- The Fridge door doesn't open beyond 50 degrees.

+ Door is spacious. The ice trays fitting in the top of the freezer drawers. Love the two compartments in the fridge.

- You cannot put bottles at the front of the door as it will not shut because of the vegetable rack. I have not used the wire wine rack because it takes up a whole shelf.

+ The fridge is fantastic. Both size and temperature keep things fresh for ages. The extra salad and meat draws are a big bonus.

- The freezer could be a little larger. It would be useful if the bottle rack which fits under a shelf could hold pop bottles as well as wine bottles.

+ Spacious, stylish, fuctional, very good at keeping food fresh, a very useful function is the alarm to reimind you to close the door before it starts to warm up.

- Late at night, it creates quite a few bangs as it starts refridgerating for the overnight period, but once it is settled, it is nice and quiet.

- Doors do not open more than about 90degrees, this could cause hinges to break with time, as we are constantly swinging the doors open and hitting the end limit.
Our previous Hotpoint unit allowed the doors to open to over 180 degrees.

+ Frost free in the freezer reduces the hassle and worry about frost build up.
Has a beeper that goes off if you leave the fridge door open too long.
Ice trays are part of two of the drawers in the freezer so no more need for separate ones and this is a great space saver.
Nice wine rack is useful.
Very large vegetable drawer at the bottom which you can fit loads in. Same goes for the door, bottom section has a nice bendy middle plastic thing so you can fit two lines of jars, small bottles in etc.

- Sometimes wine bottles slide forward in the wine rack (depending on the shape of them) so you need to keep an eye out that they don't slide out.
Depending on how you have the shelves some of the spaces created aren't very high so putting a saucepan of something you have made in the fridge can be tricky as there may not be enough space height wise. I can only add high things on my top shelf.
This is a very tall fridge, 2 meters high so reaching things on the top shelf is tricky. I'm a 5 foot 5 female and can just manage it but any shorter and you'd need a stool. On the other hand the top shelf is a great place to hide things away from kids!

+ The door left open alarm is a great idea especially if you have children!!!
There is a lot of space in both fridge and freezer, I have not filled the freezer yet!!

+ appears much more efficient than our old appliance. like the bottle storage facility, the double-depth door shelf and veg. and cool-box drawers in the fridge section. Like the deep freezer drawers.

- the fridge shelves sometimes seem restrictive in distance between, but perhaps this is due to being used to a different layout in our old appliance

- its constantly makes load banging noises - wether this is the ice cubes im not sure, but a friend has recently bought the same model from a different supplier and theirs does the same.

- Slightly worried about durability of internal trays as they are made of hard plastic - ? risk of becoming cracked and brittle, but this is only my early impression of possible future problem, possibly unfounded.

+ The fridge capacity is a good size. The bottle compartments in the lower part of the door are very handy. Not enough egg holders (only holds 6).

- If you put a loaf of bread in the first drawer of the freezer, you can't get it out without having to open the fidge door first. The freezer capacity of the fridgefreezer is small - can fit very little in (however, it was probably the largest in comparison to ohers of a smiliar price and cubic volume). The firdgegrezeer also makes strange, loud cracking noices on occasion.

- Top shelf not so easy to reach if you are only 5ft 2in like me

+ Really like the styling of this appliance. Internally the frezer has masses of storgae space with great deep drawers. The fridge also has lots of room - the veggie box and the fresh box are roomy and it's great to keep things separate. The wine rack is also great although this does mean that there is only one shelf on which you can store tall things. The door is also really deep which is great for storing juice cartons, milk cartons as well as a water filter jug etc.
Have ours on the economy setting and it keeps things very fresh for days.

+ Plenty of space - especially for vegetables (excellent!). Four drawers in freezer also very good. Buzzer warns if you leave the fridge door open - very useful reminder for us oldies!

- Changing door opening is not easy. Suggest its very bad design to have so many different sized & type of screws to change. Very nearly had to buy a new screwdriver until found that one of the smaller alum keys just managed to do the job.

+ I am a refrigeration engineer by trade and I really rate this fridge freezer.
I accidentally left it on fast freeze and the freezer reached -29 degrees C with food inside within 18hrs!!!!!!! The ambient temperature in my kitchen was +26 degrees C at the time...that is what I call efficient.
Well designed draws and features.
Excellent graphite textured plastic finish.
Unit is so efficient that it is off more than it is on.
Overall a very good well designed Fridge Freezer.

- A digital display would have been useful..... I have now fitted my own.
Bottle holders could have been made bigger...not suitable for fizzy drinks bottles over 1.5 ltrs
For the price I paid I cannot complain though.

- Not entirely straightforward to reverse the door hinges. Not only are the instructions poor and incomplete but one needs an electric drill and a special driver for two of the screws, items which many users might not have at their disposal.

+ The fridge layout is excellent and gives both a chiller drawer and very spacious salad drawer. The freezer is deceptively large with very clever ice cube makers built into the drawer design. The chill boost facility is excellent if you wish to boost the temperature.

- The fridge freezer stands approx 3-4 inches from the wall due to the depth of the elements on the rear.

+ This fridge is ideal for a family of five plenty of room and very cheap to run also the fast chill is ideal for cooling drinks quickly, read about the noise problem when defrosting prior to purchase but can't see the problem because it is un-noticeable well recommended product.

+ This fridge freezer is ideal. It looks great, very stylish, it is built well and feels solid. It is not 'plasticy' and the fact that the handles are built in means there are no cheap flimsy bits stuck on to it. It holds loads and you can easily arrange the shelves to fit bottles/jars etc. The separator strip in the door is brilliant because you can fit it drinks bottles but also fit in tall bottles of mayo/salad cream etc.The salad drawer is huge and the fresh box is excellent for keeping raw meats away from everything else. The freezer fits lots in it and the drawers run smoothly. Ticks all the boxes.

- Trying to switch the doors over so they open from the other side is a total nightmare. The instruction manual is highly uninformative on this matter giving only diagrams with no actual directions at all. The whle process was complicated and the brackets needed manually bedning to get the doors to sit in the right place - a surprisingly nasty flaw in what otherwise would have been a perfect appliance.

- Doors are 2inch thick so need a space wider than the fridge so the doors open. Doors really hard 2change round. I ordered the same model when my previous 1broke and fit in the same gap fine but the doors wouldn't open so had 2change the doors round and pull it forward over a ft so the doors will open looks a bit silly as you can see a big gap behind it. Also light in middle off this fridge (not on the top).

- Not having a separator on the large drawer to divide fruit and vegetables so they are in there together. Although I am 5'6" I find it difficult to reach the back of the top shelf. Bottle holder takes up too much space.
Door doesnt automatically close to when you push it closed. You have to physically make sure it is sealled. It may be just 2mm from closed but does not close on itself. Back doesnt fit flush to the wall like the previous model.

- Shelves are a bit close together for large items and the only way to improve on this is to remove one of them.
The fridge seems a bit dark as my previous Hotpoint had the light on the top close to the front which shone downwards. In this model, as the lights are on a bar which is in the middle of the back of the fridge, if your fridge is full, food can obscure the light

- a bit noisy in operation. door is very thick and hinge is at inside edge of door, thus door opens wider than fridge by about 50mm, mine is against a wall and its a bit tight, i had to remove plaster from wall and make extra thin door facings to accomodate it.

+ Plenty of freezer space and the ice cube trays are ingenius.The large storage box in the fridge is great for storing fruit and veg. Plenty of door storage.

- Shelf space is compromised by the wine rack but this can be removed.

- The door hinges out so when you open the door it becomes a good inch and a half wider then the appliance. This is caused us problems as the appilance had to fit into a certain space between 2 cupboards and now emans we are unable to open the door fully and pull the drawers out.

+ Loads of space, especially in the fridge door. Much quieter than I expected it. Very easy to clean and the air circulation ensures products at the back of the fridge don't get frozen.

- The top shelf might be hard to reach if someone was very short. The spacing between shelves was unrealistic, but fine once the bottle holder was removed.
