Hotpoint FDL570 Reviews: Freestanding, 60cm wide, Multi Dishwasher

+ Ample space and very good cleaning

- Not quite as quiet as I hoped for. Some parts of the cycle can get noisy.

+ This dishwasher was bought as a replacement for my ailing Bosch. It is so easy to use, and gives great results each time.

- No real bad points, except slightly noisier than the Bosch.

+ I am so pleased with my purchase; finally I have found a dishwasher with a time delay. This means that I no longer have to plug in an additional timer to run it at night, which was always bit of a task to set it etc. I am very satisfied with the dishwasher that I would determinately recommend it to a potential buyer. It is modern, sleek, efficient and very quiet which is important as I usually run it at night. Top marks from me!

- I really cannot fault it. It was not the cheapest but there again, if you want it to last for years you ought to invest a little bit more money.

- It would be nice to have a time left for cycle to complete indicator

+ I really cannot think of any good points.

- I am very disappointed with this machine and will not be buying a Hotpoint dishwasher again, I was advised to buy a Hotpoint as my old Indesit had given up the ghost, but would not recommend this product to anyone - was much happier with my indeset. It does not clean the plates, there is always food left on them and the knives and forks are misty.

- Whist good for loading wine glasses, this restricts space for other glasses

- The lower tray can easily come off the rails if you are too enthusiastic to empty or load

+ Easy to use, only have had to use the quick wash function so far as this cleans as this only lasts 35 minutes and cleans brilliantly

- The programme selection knob does not show clearly which cycle is selected

+ Quite. Part of rack folds down so you can either put plates or pans in. strong handles/grips to pull racks out which run smoothly. Filters easy to clean not to fiddly. Generally pleased with purchase

- We had a problem with the latch which pulls the door to. It was broken when it arrived and it took 2 visits to secure it. Not 100% convenienced that it will stay put for the machines life. Hotpoint came back and fixed it without any trouble.

+ difficult to single out one indivdual good point the whole dishwasher provides excellent value for money,would recommend the machine to a friend, on the short time I have owned and used it, all programmes seem well adequate to cope with soiled dishes.

+ Great dishwasher overall. I run it up to 3 times on a busy day. Everything comes out really clean and the glasses are spotless. It is very quiet which is great and has a good choice of programmes including a quick wash which is great for a half load.

- Plastics don't always dry well especially on the quick wash programme, but it does state that in the user manual.

- you have to have it on the intensive wash cycle in order to stand a chance of getting most things clean - even then some cutlery pieces come out still dirty..

+ when dishes are clean they are very clean. low noise filter easy to clean

- misses quite a lot of food on plates, cannot use all the rack have to stack them on alternate rows otherwise plates are still dirty.
the rollers come off quite regularily.
sometimes the tabs come out of their holder and end up on top of a dish so no detergent in the water.

+ Far quieter than dishwasher this replaced. Much more effective at cleaning crockery too. Good choice of programs: 30 mins, 1 hour daily, or normal 1 hour 45 mins which cleans and dries very well. Haven't tried prewash or eco options.
Useful rinse aid and salt low warning lights.
Top basket has 2 height setting and one of sets of plate rack prongs can be folded flat on bottom basket.

- At higher setting top basket cannot be double stacked. At lower setting our larger dinner plates don't fit under rotor arm.

+ That you can run a half load program which is great for ther smaller family.

+ Great value for money. Easy to operate with a small but perfectly formed range of wash cycles. Quiet, with good cleaning performance.

- Not quite as straightforward to load as previously owned dishwashers. Plate rack could do with being at the back rather than the front.

Good sized cutlery basket which is held in place so doesn't keep falling over.
Top shelf can be lowered to accommodate larger glasses.

- Doesn't clean that well on the "daily" cycle if the dishes have been sitting for longer than that.

- Cycle time to long. Prog cant be manually overridden aslike my last washer, ie I could forward or curtail in the middle of the cycle.

- the knife and fork holder is difficult with the top on with the holes in had to remove this to fit in all utensils

+ Cutlery basket with teaspoon holes, makes more space for other cutlery so gets better wash. Cutlery basket manoevrability makes loading other stuff easier to fit the best use of space.

- Fine mesh filter goes manky, and top shelf doesn't have any upward spikes that are handy for hooking things like bottles over, it's all upturned Vs. Main reason I bought this dishwasher was it was the cheapest/best reviewed one with half load option, but turns out half load isn't top or bottom shelf, which is what I was expecting.

- It only seems to get the dishes clean on the hottest and longest wash, they never come out dry and there is always a few items that i have to wash up again by hand, i had the previos model to this one which was a lot better so i am disappointed, i tend not to use it unless i'm really in a rush.

+ Everything that I expected from Hotpoint - as I believe that they are the best household electrical appliances you can buy. I have tried other makes and always come back to Hotpoint. Very good value for money.Very satisfied. Would definately recommend.

It washes really well and is fairly quick and quiet

- It seems smaller inside than the last model I had, although its external dimensions are the same.
There isn't a good space for bowls - even cereal bowls, and the little shelves on the top upper deck are lower than an average mug so all round, loading is a bit of a pain!

+ Does a good job in cleaning and drying dishes. Easy to load; liked the design of the cutlery draw

- We had to call out the engineer because of pump noise. He changed the pump and that seems to have solved the problem

+ Is beautifully quiet and the power saving program gives excellent results.........luckily, as the performance just about outweighs the disadvantages below !!!! Really not sure if I would recommend it to anyone else or not.........

- The powder/tablet section is not deep enough for a standard Finish tablet (powerball) meaning you have to almost force the compartment door shut and it sometimes even breaks the tablet.....a bit daft for a machine that is designed for tablets!?!?! The most annoying thing is the bottom basked is not on a 'runner' - consequently if you arent concentrating on what you are doing when you pull the basket forward then it drops down clattering all the plates!! I thought I would get used to it, but have had it 4 weeks and still find it drops quite often.

+ Attractive looking machine and very quiet. I have a kitchen off my living room and can easily hear the tv or make a phone call at any stage without having any problems.

- Not easy to load it takes a bit of moving things about. The best cycle takes a long time. The daily cycle, which is shorter, doesn't necessarily clean the dishes completely. (Depending how dirty they are.) I find the bottom drawer tips at the front and also on the top the cup at the front slides off the shelf. Not that easy to load all in all. I went for the middle price range as i didn't think the cheaper ones would stand the test of time and have been really disappointed.

- Design of top drawer - prefer plate racks central as this allows more glasses to be loaded either side.
also height of top drawer - I believe this is adjustable but have been unable to understand instructions how to lower it.

- I had a hotpoint before and you could stand cereal bowls up in the top basket, which you can't do with this one.So they take up more room. Still overall it's a good reasonably priced machine.

+ I had to buy a new dishwasher as one of the parts on my old one fell off and was so expensive to replace so I chose this new one based on the comments and I'm delighted with it. Its so quiet that to begin with I thought that it wasn't working!!!! The cleaning so far as been amazing. The choice of cycles is great although I've only used 3 of them so far. Getting used to loading it is proving to be more of a challenge than expected but I'm getting there - that's user error though!! All in all, I couldn't recommend this dishwasher more highly.

- The only bad point I have found is I don't like the cutlery basket and wished I'd kept hold of the old one I had. It doesn't take some of the bigger items so that's a pain but its only a small niggle on my part and I'm sure most people will be fine with it.

- Cant use rinse aid when usinging tablets. machine foams up to much. had enginners out 3 times who cant fix the problem. Told me not to use dishwaher salt at all in the machine? My old Hotpoint machine was 12 ears old and I used salt rinse aid and the same dishwasher tablets with no issues.
