Hotpoint AQGL129 reviews: Front Loading loading, 8kg capacity washing machine

+ extra large capacity is great and really enjoying all of the wash choices (didn't think I wanted a machine with so many). Very easy to load and select each specific wash cycle and even to adapt it - extra vigorous wash is very useful for the unending rugby kits.

+ The machine has a very large capacity and is easy to fill. It is very quiet during wash and the wash quality seems good. The machine has an efficient spin and the door lock prevents accidents. It can wash down to 30C for modern detergents and has a half load cycle.

- The special wash cycles - especially wool - take much smaller loads which can be confusing. The soap dispenser is behind the door which is pointless when, for liquid soaps, it recommends putting the soap in after the main wash has started because the door is locked. The large load means it uses more soap per wash. The buttons are very easy to push so could be a problem with children.

+ Unbelievably quiet and leaves clothes in good order, not srewed up into a ball. Also, there are a good selection of programmes to choose from, plus you don't have to wait for what seems like ages for the door to open at the end of the cycle.Having the powder tray inside the machine also reduces mess and it is easy to remove for cleaning

- The door has to be shut quite forcefully, otherwise the lock doesn't engage. I would also prefer a hot and cold fill, rather than just a cold fill

- Access to the powder tray isnt great because of the design, but also because the machine is fitted under a work surface which pertrudes in my kitchen. This issue probably wont affect anyone else.

+ Very quiet; the loudest part is the machine filling with water (cold fill only) and the door locking and unlocking! Unusual looking, love the big chunky door. Very easy to customise wash etc. Seems to wash very well and my items come out smelling much fresher than my old Hotpoint. Really easy to load and unload. Excellent value for money; my Mum wants one too now!

- Hard to find fault really for such an inexpensive washing machine. If I had to be picky, I would say that you can't leave the door ajar enough to stop slight smells forming; the door almost 'shuts' itself to the point where it wedges on the rubber seal. (I think it's just the door design that causes this.)

+ Big loads, 30 degree washes, ability to customise programs, easy to use, VERY quiet compared to our old machine.

- For our kitchen the door opens the wrong way but it still is a good washing machine. (opens with a right hand hinge)

+ The easy of use meant that we did not really need to consult the users manual. It was a case of plug in and go.

- The standard cycles seem to take much longer than our old washing machine, which makes a difference when you have 6 loads to do each week.

- The door opens on the wrong side which I can cope with but it would be easier if the hings was on the right side.

- main wash cycles are far too long, some taking well over an hour. Started off very quiet, after a couple of weeks and its settled in its got quite noisey.

+ Having the whole front open makes it really easy to fit washing in instead of having to squeeze in through small door as with most machines. programs simple to understand and gives flexibility on wash intensity and temperature. overall great design and performance plus good energy rating.

+ It is a good looking machine that is easy to use. Cycle times are good and there is a rapid wash. The opening is large so it's easy to get loads in.

- Not really a bad point but the hinge is on the right (as you are facing it), but fine once you get used to it. You also have to open the door to find the dispencing drawer, also fine once you get the hang of.

+ Hardly any noise, even on a 1200 spin cycle.
Lots of different cycles, including seperate spin and rinse cycles; temperature and eco-friendly options; and specialist cycles.
Most of the cycle times are pretty good, averaging just over an hour.
Considering the weight category, it takes up a surprisingly small amount of space in my kitchen.
Oh, and it looks fantastic too!

- Not necessarily a bad point but, due to the number of different cycles and programmes, it can take a bit of getting used to. Having said that, once it was up and running, I've had no problems.
Some of the cycle times can run into three hours, which is great if you want a really thorough wash and have the time, although these can be adjusted using some of the different settings to reduce washing time.

+ great machine for a family that has lots of washing to do - bigger drum size without bigger machine along with shorter cycle times means I don't have to spend as much time doing the wash. Performance is excellent too as is ease of use. Highly recommend this machine.

+ Quiet and easy to use. I like the fact that you can select different wash temperatures, times and intensities. All the options are simple to select. Childlock has been useful several times already.

- It is advertised as super silent, which I can only say is total nonsense. It is just as noisy if not noisier than many other washing machines

+ for a male living on his own the machine is an excelent purchase for ease of use and understanding of the different settings although i did go over board with the size of the drum.

- un-able to get the machine balanced properly wether this is due to the fact i havent got a concrete floor but floor boards i dont know ?????

+ Fantastic machine, 8kg load is perfect for larger families, would definately recommend to other larger families. Looks expensive at first glance, but is amazing! Has child lock - no more children messing with cycles. Easy to use and silent for majority of wash cycle.
