Louise, Cheshire Family cook
Score 3.0/10(The oven cooks well too)
The gas burners are made of very lightweight metal - if you touch them ever so slightly when cleaning the hob they fall off and are not the easiest to put back on.
The control knobs to adjust the flame of the burners are not very well regulated, unless you stoop to look at the flame you get either high or low flame.
You cannot use the grill without inserting a metal plate beneath the control knobs because otherwise they overheat(Metal plate supplied by hotpoint - there would be no way i would have purchased this cooker if I'd known about this) - the metal plate itself gets roasting hot and you have to wait for it to cool down before you can remove it - not child (or even adult) friendly.
You can't fit 6 pieces of bread on the grill pan without them hanging over the edge. (we don't have a toaster)
The grill takes an age to warm up, and doesn't cook evenly.
The grill pan handle is detachable, it has to be detached for the grill door to close. The handle is made entirely of metal so if you have the oven on and then decide you need to use the grill, mind your fingers as they will burn.
The corners of the grill door are quite pointy - I had bruises on my legs for a few weeks until I'd learn't to avoid!
The oven door has a glass plate screwed to it on the inside. The trouble is that the top edge of the door has ventilation(?) holes along it and if like I have you spill something from the grill down these holes you have to unscrew the glass plate on the oven door to be able to clean it off.
I would not recommend this cooker to anyone.
