Hoover HCF5176 Reviews: Frost Free, Tall, Multi fridge freezer

+ It was our choice from a big range on offer. Interior fittings look robust and it is just the size we wanted.

- It was purchased to replace a sparate fridge and freezer installed in our garage, both of which have worked there perfectly for many years. They needed to be replaced because seals had gone and general deterioration.
AFTER purchase ONLY we find this model will operate only between 8C and 32C, had we known this we would not have bought it. I have overcome the problem by enclosing it on three sides with a small thermostatically controlled heater. This fact needs to be emphasised in your data sheets.

+ slim and shallow design to fit in small spaces

- freezer "bucket" trays are difficult to use and severely limit the size of items that can be placed in the freezer (family size pizza's don't fit). Simple shelves would have been much better.

+ the fridge is spacefull----color-----

- drawers in the freezer are difficult to locate when pulled right out----there is a huge waste of space at rear of freezer limiting drawer capacity. given the time back we would have chosen more carefully.!!!!!!!!

+ The bottle stowage is excellent idea

- The light switch as you shut the door is very noisy.
To change the door from one hand to the other could have been designed to easier.

+ Can open the freezer drawers with ease, also see-through so can see what is in them. Fridge easy to clean. Inside layout of fridge good.

- You have to put the ice tray into a deep draw which as it has to be flat I can't use one of the draws all of the time, I realise people buy ice but I live too far away from a supermarket to do that, so I could have done with a shallow tray to put ice trays into.

- Wine rack uses up valuable space.
Loose egg rack: A more capacious one built into door would be better.
Capacity of freezer a bit small. Trays not as deep as I had anticipated.
Operating motor is a bit noisy.

- No alarm if the fridge/freezer door is left open but other than that, great purchase.

+ A nice looking fridge with a very useful (but removable) wine rack. Nice and quiet. We changed the door hanging without TOO much trouble!

- Awful drawers in freezer. They are always getting stuck.Akward to pull out when full.
The fridge is never cold enough.Have to set it at max 5 which is then much too cold for the freezer. Our milk is always going sour!

+ This product met all our requirements. It is tall but not as wide as many models. We have had a similar Hoover model for 10 years and we were very happy with it, so went for the same make.

- Just a little bit noisy.

+ Freezer space is good. Fridge space is quite good apart from the veg box at the bottom, funny shape which does not make maximum use of space.

- We did need a replacement item, as the original was fault and kept freezing up, despite being "frost free".

+ nice little wine bottle racks built in to fridge -

- when full the freezer drawers slip out of runners when pulling in and out and you have to be careful putting them back on the runner as it a very samll ledge(needs a bit of balancing!!!!)

+ looks good in a modern kitchen glass shelves are betterthan wire or plastic the plastic that is used is of good quality unlike the BEKO range i like the 50/50 design the price was right space was a factor it provides a real family fridge/freezer in a slim design the shape of the salad draw lets you take it out to clean without having to drag the f/f out

+ It's a real good looker, both outside and in. Smart layout within. Automatic de-frost. Deep drawers. Easy clean.

- No external temperature control. No freezer light.

+ Nice looking fridge at a good price. Very useful amount of space in the fridge, very modern & clean appearance on the inside, easy to see stuff in the fridge. Good sized drawer at the bottom too.
The freezer is a good size with four drawers (not 3 as in most) these drawers are clear fronted which makes it a lot easier to find stuff!!!

- No ice tray in freezer, not that that's much of a problem really, just stick the ice cubes in one of the drawers!

- CLEANING TOOL FOR THE FRIDGE SECTION DRAIN IS MISSING

- Overal I like this product a lot BUT I am concerned about the amount of condensation at the back of the fridge. The contents of the fridge are in sealed containers or bags and yet the condensation builds up and up. It turns to ice when the firdge is on. I have had a frost free fridge/freezer before and this didn;t happen at all. Any cardboard in the fridge - such as boxes goes soft suggesting that there is excess water in the air in the fridge space but I cannot work out where it is coming from.

+ Good pick up, easy to empty.

- tools on top always fall off!

- Workshop tools required to change hand of doors, ie. T27 torque driver and drill. They don't even tell you in the instructions such as they are what tools are required!

Freezer drawers don't come out far enough

+ It seems to be just the right replacement for a similar product that this model superseeded

- Hieght is 5mm taller than the last model thus remodling of shelving above had to be carried out before this new one could be installed in position. ( The kitchen was built around the old one)
Also this new one is narrower , thus there are bigger gaps around the appliance,but never mind it improver ventilation.

- The automatic fan or generator is a little noisey.

+ fridge section is a great size loads of room, freezer section is even better with 4 large drawers which are really deep, this is a great upgrade on the previous hoover model we had

+ The larger fridge with fewer shelves means storing jars and small bottles is easy. The one large salad drawer is so much more usable than the normal two seperates. The see-through drawers in the freezer are also excellent to see what's there without actually having to open the drawer itself.

+ Great capacity in both fridge and 4-drawer freezer. Plenty of options to adjust shelves to maximise storage.

- Found feet hard to access and adjust to level the appliance - but could just be me!

- The fridge door has a tenancy not to close properly.

+ Nice looking, fitted the precise space I had for it (it is quite narrow), very quiet operation. I like the built in bottle holders.

+ Good internal and external size. Suits our purpose well. Looks much more expensive than it cost. Excellent value for money.

- Salad tray had to be curved to allow removal. Unfortunately this limited it's capacity. This is the ONLY bad point I can think of!

+ Slim design. Salad crisper design and fewer internal shelves makes more usable space for us. Clear drawer fronts in freezer great. A few bad points - but overall very pleased

- Instructions sparce. Door reversal a 2 person job - had trouble reversing pin in top hinge (needed hammer and phone book!) Does feel a bit lightweight, wobbles when shutting fridge door - even though it was leveled when we installed it.

+ Great looking - blends beautifully with other stainless steel products. Very well designed, especially the bottle holder and veg drawer - contrary to reviews I had read, very quiet operation, and great price. The freezer has 4 nice and deep drawers and the only drawer back I can think of is that it is not as large as some but it is perfectly adequate for an average size family. I would strongly recommend!

- Had it only 6 months, it broke down, lost frozen food, had to be stripped down and repaired, this is not what you expect, of a brand new one. :-(
