+ The camera is light and easy to use in it's basic mode, with a good zoom and the LCD produces a very clear picture even in strong sunlight.

- It's low light (i.e. early evening)performance is not that good and the standard battery provided does not last that long, if you are looking to take it on a family day out then purchase a second or larger battery.

+ This is my first cam corder so it needed to be simple to use, packed with features and in my opinion it is! You can set most things e.g. focussing to automatic but override these if you want to. Instruction manual is really comprehensive. Film editting on your PC is brilliant with the software provided, so that you can add clips together and fade between them etc. etc., and then write it all to CD to produce your own DVD. The camera writes directly to on to mini CD and using a rewritable disc, I can take it directly out of the camera and play it on my DVD player - and it's all in wide screen - see it on TV straight away no messing.

- As I said it's my first cam corder purchase so I can't think of any. I'm really pleased with it!

+ Easy to use. I have had fun playing with it - it seems idiot proof. Good results even allowing for dark background outside. Optical zoom excellent

- Handbook could be more user friendly. What about a simplified need to know sheet?

+ I only decided to purchase a camcorder when my son was born- I wanted something that was easy to use. Overall this is proving to be a good camcorder for someone like me- who just wants to record family events etc and not become a video expert. The picuture quality is much better than I expected.

- You can't record video clips onto SD memory- only photos.
