- Instructions not exactly 100% easy to understand at initial set up. Tunning channels could be explained better, we got there eventualy, I mean its not rocket science, but could be made clearer/easier to follow, and cover what to do if it does not work staright away.

+ Good design easy to move, located in our conservatory,not too big or small ideal for the size of room.

- When its in standby mode you have to press the standby button again then the channel number of your choice. Sometimes the green light goes out again before you have selected the channel. when you want to watch a dvd you have to change the input av1 (scart) unless I am doing something wrong.

+ Very stylish and compact. Easy to navigate around the functions.

- Digital TV menu function does not allow you to navigate through other channels, viewing options, whilst watching your current channel.

+ Very easy to set up - after I'd figured out that you needed to use the side-panel controls for initial digital tuning rather than the remote control - and packs a lot of features for the price. Images are rock solid and the sound output is very good for something this size.

- Power on takes 15-20 sec and you have to be patient and wait for the Hitachi logo to appear rather than pressing the on/off button again. As mentioned above, was unable to set digital tuning via the remote control at initialising stage.

+ good solid performance all round, nothing outstanding, but noting poor/cheap either. Signal reception/tuning is ok, i've seen stronger but perfectly acceptable with a suitable aerial. Picture quality is ok, with vibrant colours and contrast, although some initial messing around with the settings to get it to your tastes will be needed. casing and picture ooks are quite good, and not cheap like some. sound is perfectly acceptable from a set this size
Good quality connector plate at the rear, especially the aerial connector, no cheap socket here which is good as many do wear out or give a bad connection, Good range of connections/inputs available

- Initially slow to turn on, almost like it is slow reacting to the remote control, so when you press the standby button, have a little patience before pressing it again, remote operations are ok after this, so it's just it's switch on time that is slow, they should have made the light come on immediately, nothing major, just dont be impatient with it!
quirky menu and GUI, this could have been a little more user friendly, and at times you'll think to yourself that it could have been implemented better, but it is functional.
Power switch (good to see one of these actually used in todays energy efficiency cautious climate, rather than having to leave it in standby) however, it would have been nice had it been the other side of the power cable !! for those wondering what i am on about, the on/off switch is located on the rear of the set, right next to the PC/Kettle style power lead socket, easy to use, just slide your hand around the back from the side, however, the first thing you encounter is the power cable, the switch is located on the other side of that, so you have to reach around the power lead plug to get to the switch, minor ergonomic goof is all really.

+ fantastic picture and sound.

- doesn't have an off switch, it's on standby using electric all the time unless it's unplugged. You have to manually select the input - it's too complicated for my 5 year old who used to be able to just press play and watch his video! It doesn't rotate in it's base so if you want to change it's position you have to pick the whole thing up and move it. I'f I'd known all this at hte time of purchase, I'd have chosen another model!
