+ This is my fist sat-nav and i would say it is easier than a mobile phone, directions are given in plenty of time clearly and accurately, any wrong turn is rerouted immediately, points of interest are fab would definitely recommend.

- Everyone in the family wants to borrow as its so easy to use.

+ excellent mapping and easy to use all of the features available on the 760T. The Traffic capability is brilliant and has already saved me from sitting in queues for a couple of hours - brilliant

- I wanted to be able to use Garmins MapSource software on my PC to plan routes etc... however you can't do this unless you buy exactly the same mapping as you have already installed on the Nuvi 760T. Not too much of a problem as I intend to upgrade the maps when th next release comes out and that will be "fixed".

+ Superb Reception and always locks on very quickly to the satellites. Traffic works well but does need some care interpreting the display. Excellent touch screen.

- Stiff power cable and seperate aerial for the Traffic. Irritating to back out of multiple screens. It would be nice to get access to the voice mute a lot quicker. Wish it would remember the roads I never use!

+ Does everything and has everything I wanted. wide screen / MP3 player - play lists and ability to add and edit music on SD card / Blue tooth, links perfectly with both phones and works exceedingly well / FM transmitter and auxiliary port / traffic reception - superb reception and works automatically does re-routes if available / speed camera fixed and mobile / extensive POI's plus ability to add more, also their phone number is included on screen so you can phone them using a single touch / oh and it does good directions as well especially with the text to speech

- Shame it needs the power cable to receive the traffic alerts.

+ Good slim design. Much improved car connection and screen mount.

Speaker volume to quiet even on the loudest setting making hands free hard and spoken directions hard to follow.
Directions not really up to it, leaves you to follow road signs quite often.

Richard, Halifax , “I drive 20000 mpa”

Score 9.0/10

+ Clear screen and great helicopter-style view of the journey ahead. The voice is clear and the unit directs me very well round accident traffic on motorways. The timing is uncannily accurate for journey times and there is a wealth of useful features on the unit (some of which I will never use). It recalculates quickly - much quicker than other sat-nav's that I have seen.

- I would like some option to increase the bass and decrease the treble of the voice. Although I have managed to get my phone to 'talk' to the unit it does not work when telephoning making it less useful. I would also like it to only load the British Iles instead of having to wait for it to load all of Europe before the welcome screen arrives.

Claire, Lisburn , “Average non techy consumer”

Score 10.0/10

+ We took this with us on a recent trip to Florida having bought US maps for it. It was like having a tour guide with us. The satnav itself was really easy to use but all the other features like the ability to hit a button to ask for restaurants, shopping or other attractions nearby wherever we were was brilliant. Saving current locations so that it was easy to find our way back somewhere was fabulous. The last time we went to the US there was nearly a divorce due to my inability to navigate so this was worth every penny!!. It is also a small size and really lightweight so there were a number of times we used it even when on foot as it easily fits in a handbag or pocket. The only drawback was the fact that the gadget for attaching it to the car relies on suction and there was nowhere handy to attach it on our rental car. We resolved that by buying one of those sandbag type devices so it sat on the dash - we shopped around as they definitely vary in price!

Satellite Navigation Buyers Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Loaded and wide, nüvi 760 has it all — advanced navigation features, a widescreen display, preloaded maps, an FM transmitter, hands-free calling, traffic alerts and more. Like the rest of the wide nüvi 700-series, its premium navigation capabilities, like route planning and a handy locator, give you peace of mind on the go.

With nüvi 760’s widescreen display, you’ll always get the big picture. View map detail, driving directions, photos and more in bright, brilliant color. Its sunlight-readable, 4.3-inch display is easy to read — from any direction.

Navigate With Ease

nüvi 760 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps and millions of points of interest (POIs) such as hotels, restaurants, fuel stations, ATMs and more. Simply touch the colour screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. In addition, nüvi 760 accepts custom points of interest, such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. The European version even includes a preloaded safety camera database containing locations of cameras for parts of Europe.

Where Am I?

Keep track of yourself and your car with nüvi 760. Just tap “Where Am I?” to find the closest hospitals, police stations, fuel stations, nearest address and intersection. Also see your exact latitude and longitude coordinates. nüvi 760 even remembers where you parked. It automatically marks your position when you remove it from the windscreen mount, so you can navigate with nüvi on foot and find your way back to your vehicle. Perfect for unfamiliar spots and crowded lots such as amusement parks, stadiums and malls.

Plan Ahead

nüvi 760 includes advanced navigational features to take the worry out of traveling. With route planning you can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on the 760’s wide screen. In addition, nüvi 760 automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, deliveries or sales calls. It also displays speed limits for roads and motorways. A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you’ve been on the map.

Make Hands-free Calls

Talk about worry-free driving. nüvi 760 integrates Bluetooth® wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker for hands-free calling. Just pair it with your compatible Bluetooth phone and talk hands-free through the 760 while staying focused on the road. Simply dial numbers with nüvi’s touchscreen keypad to make a call.
