+ For a multi-function this compact camera has features that are not only easy to use but are usually reserved for the more expensive single lense reflex cameras. It is as the name implies compact with the convenience of being pocket sized. It is ideal for the novice with the added attributes and versatility for that of the professional user. The sturdy build of this camera leaves little to be desired by the user. It's a big one hundred and ten per cent yes for this camera and it's engineering. Sincerely pleased with the usage and the result quality.

- There are no gimmicks with the camera, but a small protective carrying case would be an additional asset for a making this great product . . . perfection.

+ Very easy to use camera taking extremely good pictures. Works well in dusk settings and at night shootings. The finish of the camera is very well and the camera is a pleasure to operate. Enduring battery. Very many nice and well functioning pre-programmed settings making it possible for everyone to do the rights shooting - no matter the condition

- Has an annoying tick-tick sound when the EXR mode is used due to the constant measuring. The mode-selection wheel is a little to eager to change position between use i.e. you may end up shooting in a wrong mode unintentionally.

+ This is a pocket camera which takes excellent quality photos and videos. It is relatively simple to use and is pretty robust.

- If used on the fully automatic setting it is easy - but if you use any of the alternatives you do need to read the handbook. The multi function dial can get moved easily and needs to be checked before each use, particularly if like me you use a pouch to carry it in.

+ I'm very much a "point and shoot" photographer and so don't want "fussiness". The F200EXR is simple to use, but if I ever want something a little more complicated it will give me that option. A perfect camera for me.

- Haven't come across any bad points yet.

+ When it's set on EXR Auto, it's excellent for catching shots on those occasions when you don't have time to think about changing the settings to what you want, e.g. it goes automatically into Macro mode, so no out of focus close ups.

- When in Programmed Auto and Manual, there doesn't seem to be as much control for setting the aperture as on my older Fuji cameras (or if there is I haven't found it!). I seem only to be able to get minimum and maximum aperture with nothing in between, and, on top of that, there's no proper Aperture Priority mode. There's no way to switch the sound off without disabling the flash in most modes.

+ Pocketable camera with a decent zoom, wide angle and good performance. EXR auto works well in automatically choosing the correct mode.

- Limited range on manual control, particularly on range of aperture priority settings. Find the noise of continuous focussing in EXR auto mode a little disconcerting.

Expert reviews for Fujifilm Finepix F200

PC Advisor expert review - by Carrie-Ann Skinner

Fujifilm uses new Super CCD EXR technology with its F200EXR compact camera, increasing resolution and its ability to work in low-light conditions.

TechRadar expert review

When manufacturers use language like 'revolutionary' and 'ground-breaking technology', it's only natural to feel a twinge of scepticism. One thing is for sure, however, the new Fujifilm F200EXR is bristling with bright ideas and clever new features. At the heart of the camera is a brand new 12MP Super CCD EXR image sensor, but the more intriguing aspect is how the equally new EXR image processor aims to get the most out of the sensor, pursuing the best possible image quality in wide-ranging conditions. The F200EXR's main claim to fame, and indeed to ground-breaking revolution, is that …
