+ No need to connect with wires - accepts various digital cards and will connect directly with camera.
Separate ink cartridges - only replace the ones that are empty. Compatible cartridges are around £2.50 each.
Excellent print quality. Prints A4 photos without any visible grain or lines.
Now as cheap as £85 in places. Superb value for money.
Easy to use controls and preview screen

+ Very easy to use with good on-screen directions. Very good prints and copying but too early to evaluate cost of printing.

- Quite large - previously had RX425 which was more compact for fitting into limited space, but would still recommend RX585

+ Set up was very easy with clear on screen instructions. Even a technophobe like myself was able to get up and running quickly. The one down side was that I wasn't advised that it didn't come with a USB connector. Otherwise, everything has gone very well. Instructions for printing in different mediums, i.e. paper, CDs etc are very clear with "wizards" to help. Very well pleased with the RX585.

- The one down side was that I wasn't advised that it didn't come with a USB connector.

+ unlike some of the reviews i had read i found it quite straight forward and easy to install this printer. And compared to my previous printers it is relatively quite. The print quality is really good and far better than anything i've used before.

- Like most people i like value for money and the price of replacement ink catridges is very expensive. Also the printer while looking good is quite big and bulky and may not suit some people if space is at a premium.

+ The printer is good value because it includes cd/dvd printing which at the time of purchase there was not one printer in the same price range with this feature.

- The ink catridges do not last long and are to expensive, the printer will not work with cartridge refills.

Expert reviews for Epson Stylus Photo RX585

TechRadar expert review

Banishing compromise from its outlook on printing, the Epson RX585 nails its vibrant colours firmly to the mast of photographic output, with a purely dye-based range of six Epson Claria inks. This means that document printing is definitely second-best, with greyish, faded-looking mono text. More surprisingly, photocopying speeds for colour graphics documents proved particularly slow.Vibrant picturesGetting back to the RX585's strong point, colour rendition for photo output is especially vibrant, bright and punchy. In fact, the Epson tended to boost contrast in many of our test photos, t…

Epson's all-in-one Epson Stylus Photo RX585 performs well as a scanner and photo printer, but falls short on quality for other general-purpose tasks.
