+ Excellent print quality,

- Ink runs out quickly, tried to use compatables but get error message,"incompatable cartridge", originals too expensive. Anybody want to buy a printer that will cost £30 month to use?

+ A really good all round printer. Print quality is excellent. Printing is very fast for an inkjet.

- Ink is expensive, even with the separate tanks. Plus it never uses the whole tank, thanks to the chips fitted to each cartridge.

+ Very good colour saturation, it picked up all the hues in my sunset pictures very well indeed...but you do need to use Epson paper!

- None that I have found as yet apart from if you need to print a picture, it can take a few minutes, but hey, thats the price you need to be willing pay for the finished result, which is excellent.

- I have no complaints about this printer, and consider it to be excellent value for money.

+ A really fast printer, quality is good. The CD/DVD printer feature is way above of quality to what I was expecting. Does work with Epson compatible printer cartridges so you can keep the cost down if you print a lot.

- Though had a bit of a fight to get the printer working initally. The lack of a card reader is a slight let down, as you`ll need a computer to print those precious memories.

Expert reviews for Epson Stylus Photo R285

TechRadar expert review

The Epson R285 is a bare-bones A4 printer which doesn't even include PictBridge support. What you do get, however, is Epson's latest generation of Claria dye-based inks that are delivered from six replaceable cartridges. The colour range is therefore very good but, in our tests, outright accuracy left a little to be desired, especially when it came to skin tones, which tended to be a little on the cool side.
