- I ordered the product as it was recommended alongside the order for all washing machines and thought it would help with limescale problems. I also booked installation. When the washing machine arrived I asked the fitter to add the neocal. He refused on two grounds: firstly he can not instal 'unofficial' products even if it is recommended by the retailer. Secondly, all modern washing machines are now fitted with automatic anti-limescale devces which makes the neocal redundant. I complained to the retailer and returned the product to receive a full refund. I strongly suggest that someone does not buy this product unless they know there is no such device in the machine and they are prepared to fit it themselves.

I don't know how we would be able to rate the product.. Presumably its a case of 'time will tell!'
The device has only been installed for a month, and the aim is to prevent limescale build up which will occur over a period of time. Unable to score hence the 5 - Bad points:

Easy to install.
If the marketing blurb is true, it should prolong the life of the washing machine.
If the marketing blurb is true, it should give good value for money.
It works silently, probably unseen, and without intervention, at least for five years. - Bad points:

It gives another weak point, where leaks might occur.
How does one ever know that the device lives up to the marketing promises?
Five years on, one must remember, or whoever one sells one's property to must remember, to replace the device.

Easy to install. If the marketing text is correct, this device could prolong the life of the washing machine by perhaps some years, while avoiding the cost of Calgon or a similar product. What, for example, is the cost of Calgon over the lifetime of a washing machine? Does that expenditure represent a real saving?
<p>
I own three small, furnished properties. I live in one; the others are let. All have washing machines. When any of those machines breaks down, I must get it repaired or must replace it. It's in my interests to prolong its life as much as possible for as low a cost as possible. - Bad points:
- Just another joint that might at some time leak. But I'm not holding my breath until that happens.
