- The flexible hose in not prticularly flexible and does not reach up the strairs easily. This results in the vacuum having to be placed on the steps behind whch is dangerous. The tools are "fiddly" to get out of the units hut work well once constructed.

- The attachments on the top of the cyclone fall off quite easily and the telescopic hose can be quite stiff sometimes

+ this dyson has very good suction, good range of tools and once you get used to using the telescopic wand, which works slightly differently to the previous ones, it is a good all round vacuum cleaner.

- the biggest drawback with the dyson is the very piercing whistling sound that apparently comes from the turbo motor, if dyson could get rid of this then personally I would be a lot happier.

+ This Dyson is so easy to use, i've never seen my carpet look so clean. It has great accessories which are easy to use and are great for cleaning the car too!! The lead is longer than my old Dyson which means i can cover a larger area without changing plugs too often! I would certainly recommend it!!

- The price is always an issue, however, I balance that off with both its performance and the guarantee.

+ seems lighter than my old DC04 and therefore alot more portable, attachments are also more solidly in place on my old DC04 they fell off all the time. Also like the carpet/hard floor adjuster which is very useful

- haven't really found one yet, I guess as with all dyson's in comparison to other hoovers they are heavy but they also in my opinion hoover much better than other models I have used in the past

- qQite heavy, although not as bad as the latest design that I tested in the shops (with the ball) also tools tend to fall off the top when in use or in transit. Falls over easily as the hose doesn't extend easily. Have to empty more frequently than my old model as the collection container is smaller.

+ I have a white dog that moults continuously and a black cat, this product is great for picking all the hairs and is extremely easy to use from one floor type to another.

- I Find that use of the extending hose for stairs etc could be improved some how but this is not a major problem.

+ I have two cats and two dogs & this brilliant dyson picks up all the hair and even cat biscuits with ease. Previously I had to brush edges of hall carpet before cleaning, this cleans just as well right up to skirting boards, so a 30 minute job now takes under a min! Very easy to empty, easy to use, not too heavy and looks very smart.

- Attachments do not stay on unit, moulded storage not secure enough.

- I find it quite stiff to pull out the telescopic hose and also to get it to push back down into postition. The coiled hose is so tightly packed it can be hard going on stairs/upholstery keeping pulling at it.

+ Incredibly powerfull, even compared to our previous dyson dc01 which I thought was good. It will even lift the carpet off away from the floor. Easy to empty and lots of removeable access points to get at any jams. Not that there have been any even when hoovering up inches of building rubble.

- Sometimes it is almost too powerfully making it hard to move. But you can't have it both ways.
only design flaw is that when the device is upright it defaults to suction through the handle,which doubles as the wand,this can try to suck your clothes in. It does have a flip down grill over the handle top but it will still make you jump.

+ Great suction, noticable pick-up difference over my old Panasonic. Feels really solid & sturdy to use.

- Bit heavy for my girlfriend which gives her another reason for me to do the hoovering - but who wants it to be cheap & flimsy, you know it won't last! Plus using the hand tools isn't the quickest to change to. All this i knew before purchasing and didn't & wouldn't put me of again order recommending.

+ Fantastic Dyson which picks up well and has many new features that make sense. I almost chose against buying another Dyson as I was not impressed with my fist one but when I looked around I found this one and am pleased I did. It has good suction power (better than the new uniball Dysons) it has a longer wand and a better way to get rid of the dirt/dust. Most impressed overall.

- This Dyson still needs to get a cable retractor - this si teh worst design feature of this and my previous Dyson. Having to wind the cable up does my nut in!
