+ Great look and I had a 2 slice Dualit prior to the 4 slice one.
Good to have 4 toasts at the same time, especially for the children who can't wait to have a toast.

- Very disappointed with the quality of the toasting. Does not toast evenly. Slices are toasted more on one side than the other and sometime the crust is burnt! It does not come closer to the 2 slice Dualit toaster I bought 8 years ago.

+ Build quality and solid feel is exactly what we are looking for.
Finish excellent.
Takes all sorts breads and English muffins. Cooks "Farls" better than anything we have had.

- We new it was a large machine but in reality it is big! Not a "bad" point but one to consider when considering worktop space takeup.

+ Stainless steel version very stylish and easy to clean. More compact than anticipated. Excellent operation - very ergonomic design. Consistent, even and fast toasting. Great for wholemeal toast (or variable thickness) , bagels and crumpets - and like the fact that it keeps the toast realtively warm until you pop it up yourself. I love it!

- Only a few criticisms; crumb tray a bit flimsy, and can't cancel the mechanical timer (if you want to stop heating, you have to turn it off at the wall and wait for the timer to run down).

+ Sturdy build, fairly easy to use. Looks and feels like a quality product. I hope it lasts for life as the adverts suggest.

- The timer is quite noisy during operation and the time you set obviously dictates the final brownuing of the toast, this tends to be rather hit and miss depending on type of bread. There is no separate browning control.

+ Well built. Looks good. Does what it's meant to do. I like it's simplicity. Best feature is the "high lift" because the toast comes right out of the grills (no poking around with fingers or forks to retrieve your breakfast).

+ Replacement for its similar 25 year old predecessor that had been repaired (elements/ timer switch/ 'inner cage') several times. Basic simplicity/ ease of use/ easy to clean and maintain - it just 'looks and feels right'.

- Does seem a bit less substantial than our first toaster (which we've still got and may geta round to repairing) in that it is lighter - both 'ends' made from cast alloy rather that pressed metal as on new toaster. This isn't really a 'bad point' more an observation on ongoing development - if they weren't so expensive we'd give them as gifts more often.

+ Dualit toasters are tough. You control the toasting time through your experience of the type of bread you use.The alternative pop up type, waste bread and they are not reliable as they cannot gauge the type of bread.or its moisture conntent. Have had dualit for 15 years and would not consider any other type. this was purchased for its greater capacity, the previous one is still in use.
