Score 9.0/10+ Build quality, Denon Link capability. This is a solid, heavy beast that means business. The sound is simply awesome - SACD and DVD Audio are incredible. I stepped up from the Denon 3930 and the difference made my hairs stand up. I travel a lot and can't wait to get back home to enjoy it again.
- The manual. Like all Denon manuals, things get very confusing and complicated. For instance, you cannot switch the digital output mode if you have a disc in the player - the drawer has to be empty. It doesn't tell you that in the manual at all. BUT the set up on this was a breeze compared to the AVC A1 XVA I bought at the same time! THAT took all day and several calls for help on the AV Forum!!! The Denon Link cable that comes with the unit is very basic and no different to the cable that comes with their lesser units. I went for the DLA1 Denon Link cable - but that cost an extra £250! (But I never wanted that "what if" feeling when I was listening to music)

Ease of use: the DENON DVDA1XVA DVD PLAYER can produce a good image out of the box.
Very fine adjustments are available in the Picture Adjustment menus
for that perfect image quality... not for the "Hooray Henrys"
Image quality: Give the player an Hour or two to warm up.
I can see objects and detail that I have never seen before in films
that I have been watching for years.
Its that good that I have even noticed scratches and fingerprints
on Luke skywalkers glasses in The Empire Strikes Back
Sound quality: Very strong and real sounding for films using the "i.link / IEEE1394 / Firewire" output.
I can hear sounds on cds that I have never heard before in analog.
