- Good points:
-
Whilst relatively expensive bit of kit nevetheless it is worth every penny highly economical on coffee beans a £3 packet will do 30 cups of excellent coffee fresh coffee would not be without it. The milk container and the self cleaning and idiot proof digital instructions very smart.
- Bad points:
- A minor thing does not do latte then again you can heat up milk in a microwave very easily. Also just pre heat cups before hand to retain heat of coffee.

- Good points:
- Very clever but simple to use. Makes great tasting coffee. Easy to clean. Can use ground coffee as well as beans. Can just make frothy milk. We have no experience of other coffee machines but this is fantastic.
- Bad points:
- None that we can find, except maybe that the base where the coffee cup sits marks easily.

Score 10.0/10I have also found that I get 30 coffees from an 8oz/227g bag of beans costing around £3, meaning cost per espresso shot is only 10p each!
The machine has an in-built memory that tells you how many coffees & milk drinks have been made, and also records how many litres of water have been used and how many times it's been descaled.
Make sure you descale when the machine tells you to! As far as I can see, the stats cannot be reset, so if the machine goes back needing servicing, Delonghi would know if you haven't been descaling when the machine told you to. The manual warns that not descaling the machine will invalidate the warranty.
The machine is more expensive than other machines which use pods/capsules, but over time this bean-to-cup machine works out much cheaper than being tied in to using a particular pod system such as Nespresso, as the cost per drink is much lower.
I also like having the option to use ground coffee as an alternative to beans, I keep a supply of decaff ground coffee and use the ground coffee option for decaff.
******LATTE*******
Another reviewer said it doesn't do latte. I think they have not read the manual carefully enough. True, the milk frother dial turned fully counter-clockwise gives maximum froth. Perhaps the other reveiwer assumed that to get no froth you are supposed to turn fully the other way. That's a mistake, if you do that you will get frothed milk.
Look carefully at the milk frother dial, it has four markings: "Insert", "1", "2", and "3".
"3" is maximum froth.
"1" produces steamed milk with no froth at all, zero.
If you turn past "1" to "Insert", you have turned the dial to the point where the dial can be removed for cleaning. That's too far, and will produce frothed milk if you have it on that setting when in use.
Turn it to "1" and it makes great latte with no frothy milk, just steamed milk. You don't need a microwave to heat milk with no froth.
