Score 10.0/10+ Having the option to change aperture and shutter speed settings is a real bonus, just like my old SLR used to be. The LCD viewfinder is brilliant, and the results are first class. The camera is solid and it feels like a "real" camera - yet it is still compact. It has so many features which makes the G10 the perfect camera for me and it is excellent value for money. I have spoken to a couple of professional photographers who use the G10 rather than a bulky SLR.
- You need a spare battery as once it runs down, there's hardly any warning - it just dies!

+ It lives up to its specification. I have just taken it on a 3 week holiday around France and am very pleased with the 400+ pictures that I took.
- Very few. It is a little heavy and I find that I accidentally press some of the buttons when taking shots, but that probably my fault.

Score 9.0/10+ Tre image quality is great also the preset programs. You can get beautiful photos without a lot of experience.
- I dont think I have found anything bad about the camera yet. I havenr been able to get good pictures when the light contrast is too big and havent figure out how to get around that problem. I believe that has more to do with my lack of knowledge, rather than poor quality of the camera...

TechRadar expert review
We reviewed the PowerShot G9, this camera's predecessor, last year. The Canon PowerShot G10, then, has been over a year in the pipeline and yet on the face of it, the new camera isn't so very different from the old one. But there are some significant differences. The one that's likely to grab the most headlines is the G10's increase in resolution, offering a 14.7 megapixel sensor where the G9 had 12 megapixels. Actually, though, that's probably the least important difference. Numerically, it's not very much at all and, besides, pixel densities this high bring serious noise (and noise…

The power to excel.
14.7 Megapixels
A 14.7 Megapixel sensor provides rich detail for large-scale prints and creative cropping, while allowing you to make the most of the camera’s Safety Zoom and Digital Tele-Converter functions.
Quality 5x wide-angle lens
Capture more in your frame with a compact, high quality 5x wide-angle (28mm, f/2.8) lens. Canon’s optical Image Stabilizer technology counteracts the effects of camera shake, for crisp, blur-free images throughout the zoom range.
RAW recording
RAW shooting gives complete control over all image parameters in post-shoot editing. Support for Canon’s Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software allows Digital SLR users to integrate the PowerShot G10 into their workflow.
DIGIC 4
The latest in image processing technology, DIGIC 4 delivers extraordinary noise reduction. The result is richly detailed, cleaner images, even at high ISO speeds. DIGIC 4 also drives exceptional processing speeds and responsive operation.
Anti-blur
The PowerShot G10 combats blur with High ISO Auto and Motion Detection Technology, which ascertains movement of both camera and subject to set the optimum ISO, whatever the shooting situation. Servo AF tracks moving subjects to ensure they remain in focus.
Face Detection Technology
For easy, spontaneous portraiture the PowerShot G10 uses Canon’s Face Detection AF/AE/FE/WB. Face Select & Track optimises settings for a chosen person, while FaceSelf-Timer is ideal for self-portraits or group photos.
3.0" PureColor LCD II
The 3.0" PureColor LCD II has outstanding resolution (460K dots) for exceptional detail during framing or playback – while an optical viewfinder offers extra framing choice.
Convenient dials
Dedicated Exposure Compensation and ISO dials provide convenient adjustment of exposure and ISO without the need to access menus. A Multi Control Dial provides fast, accurate access to menu items, functions and images.
i-Contrast
i-Contrast analyses a scene during shooting or playback, then boosts brightness in dark areas. The result is improved contrast with detail retained in tricky lighting conditions.
Shooting modes
26 modes, including numerous automatic modes, make shooting in tricky situations easier. The PowerShot G10 also offers full manual mode, for total creative control.
Accessories range
A comprehensive accessory system includes a tele-converter, waterproof case and compatibility with Canon’s full range of Speedlite flashes.
