Score 8.0/10

+ We haven't had the printer for very long and haven't yet put it through its paces. We can only compare it with our previous printer that was an Epson Stylus Photo R1800 (also an A3 printer) and say that it is faster, particularly when printing pages of text. The Epson gave up after 15 months and started going through cartridges, which made printing VERY expensive, but the quality is good. If this one lasts longer than the Epson we'll be very happy.

- It won't allow us to do a quick borderless prints on normal paper like the Epson did, so we have to tell it that we're using photo paper, which it takes more time (and probably more ink) to do. As said though, it's early days and we've got other things to try out with it before we decide if we'd buy another one when this one decides it's done enough.

+ I bought the printer for my scrapbooking as it is a A3 printer it prints my 12"x12" pages for my albums,I also use it for my ditgital photographs and it gives me very good prints without over the top expenses for replacement cartridges, I am really please I bought it.

- For me there are only 2 small bad points, 1.It is noisy. 2.and quite big.But if you don`t mind the noice and have room for it ,BUY IT, I`m glad I did.

+ Cheap ink cartridges and economical use of them, fast, easy to set up, really good print quality.

- Large size and lack of wireless connection makes it hard to find space for within reach of the usb cable- which isn't supplied!

Score 10.0/10

+ Very well-made - solid and substantial. Very easy connectivity. Very easy to set up and use. Print quality is superb and print speed remarkably fast. For an A3 printer, its footprint is remarkably small.

- I have found none so far!

Expert reviews for Canon PIXMA IX5000

TechRadar expert review

Canon has chosen a very no-nonsense design for its iX5000 printer. It's square-cut and has a conventional paper throughput from rear to front, using a four-stage telescopic output tray. Two buttons control power and paper feed and there's a PictBridge socket at the front and a USB 2.0 port at the rear, but that's your lot.The printer driver is comprehensive and covers borderless printing right up to A3. As with several drivers designed specifically for the Mac, though, more thought could be put into placing all the essential parameters on to a single dialog. You still have to open…
