- Good points:
-
Very good for text- less for photos.
Easy to load ink.
Good software.
Compact machine. - Bad points:
-
Very expensive ink- £45 upwards for 5 single cartridges.
Uses ink for not only cleaning but when charging/changing settings prior to printing. When "ink is low," photo print quality is awful- unlike previous models where printing would be OK right up to "change cartridge instruction."
Very slow to print when settings are changed.
Flimsy cassette tray for paper-with slide-on cover.
Shiny black chassis collects dust.

- Good points:
- Tidy compact design and easy to use once set up. Setup instructions easy to follow. Print quality is very good and supporting software programs on Disk are improved over previous versions. I have used a Canon Pixma ip3000 for years, and in comparrison the attention to quality printing results is obvious.
- Bad points:
-
Functionality has been sacrificed for quality. Not really a bad point, but it cannot do all that my older printer could do, like auto duplex and disk printing.
Sometimes the printer does not 'respond' to print instructions and has to be reset. does not happen often - a pain when it does.

- Good points:
- Speed, quality of output although I have not printed any photos yet, documentation.
- Bad points:
- You cannot load as many sheets into the paper tray as I would like. The ink cartridges are small and do not last long (compared to my experience of HP).

- Good points:
- Superb quality and ease of use. For some years I had its big brother a Canon 965i, but to be honest I find this far easier to use, more compact and the picture quality is second to none. Easy to set up and very clear instructions. Highly recommended.
- Bad points:
- None

Printers Buying GuideManufacturer's Description
Outstanding photo performance for creative home users
A compact, affordable home photo printer with class-leading specification that delivers superior photolab-quality prints.
Photo printing
Superior image quality and virtually grain-free prints are achieved by the PIXMA iP3600, ejecting ink droplets as small as 1pl onto the page at 9600×2400dpi resolution*. A 10×15cm borderless photo is printed in approximately 41 seconds*. The enhanced ChromaLife100+ system** combines Canon’s FINE print head, improved ink formulation and selected Canon genuine photo papers for long-lasting, beautiful photos.
Document printing
The PIXMA iP3600 features crisp text printing thanks to a dedicated black pigment ink cartridge, making it appropriate for all kinds of web and document printing.
5 Single Inks system
All 5 Single Inks can be replaced individually, minimising unnecessary ink wastage. A smart LED indicates when a cartridge is running low or needs replacing.
Convenience
Two paper trays enhance media flexibility, allowing both photo paper and plain paper to be loaded at the same time without having to swap them manually. Digital camera users will also benefit from the ability to print directly from their camera without a PC using PictBridge. If you prefer to hook the printer up to your PC, a Hi-speed USB interface enables the fast transfer of information.
Editing software
Easy-PhotoPrint EX software comes as standard for your creative projects, such as photo albums and calendars. The software also includes the enhanced Auto Photo Fix, which automatically removes common flaws from images using Face Detection and Scene Analysis technology. It also comes with a red-eye removal function.
