Score 9.0/10+ Image quality, you'll want to invest in L-series lenses!
- Build quality around battery compartment, the battery door does not quite sit correctly. This leaves a small edge that can catch or feel uncomfortable on your hand, disappionting, but not enough for me to send it back, could just be my model.

Score 10.0/10+ The Image quality is astounding ... I'de say equliivant to medium format models of jsut few years ago at a quarter of the price.
- I can not think of a single negative things to say about this camera. Oh I can ... the supporting software is poor glad I don't have to use it much.

Great lens.
More fps, handles noise better than the 400D
- The expense. The new Raw format not compatible with Photoshop CS3 - takes longer to process images.

This is a simply stunning camera.
Image quality is about as good as you can currently get.
The menu system is far more intuitive than on the 5d mark 1, which makes this a very straightforward camera to use.
Having several programmable Custom Settings means that I can employ exposure bracketing or mirror lockup at the turn of a dial. No more trawling through submenus.
I would have considered this camera even without the HD video, but this is a very welcome additional feature.
The lens is of exceptional quality although a little slow.
- A faster lens would have been nice, although the IS helps to some extent

Score 9.0/10+ Really worthwhile move up from 40d
- None yet. If the kit hadn't been such a deal I'd go body only.

Score 9.0/10+ Full frame, high resolution images with good noise levels at lower ISO. Lens has the best general purpose zoom range with quality approaching good primes.
- Focussing system only acceptable if you normally use the centre point. Surprised that Canon made little improvement to the 5D Mk 1 focussing system. However, unless sports/action are the major interest, the system is adequate.

Score 10.0/10+ Top line, professional camera. Whilst the camera doesnt take the photographs a good one is one less thing to worry about !
- None other than the price which is not actually a bad point merely a fact of life.

Score 9.0/10+ Very hight image quality. HD vidéo not at all a gadget !
- Maybe the sound during video mode ! But the first we ask to a camera is to take pictures, so it does not matter . . .

Digital Cameras Buyers' GuideManufacturer's Description
The full frame EOS 5D Mark II combines outstanding resolution with 3.9 fps shooting and superlative high ISO performance. The addition of Full HD movie recording expands the boundaries of photography.
For the ultimate in creative shooting, the EOS 5D Mark II features a full frame CMOS sensor (36mm x 24mm). With no cropping or magnification effects, enjoy a true wide angle experience through the large, bright
viewfinder. Redesigned pixels minimise noise, while a 21.1 Megapixel resolution surpasses the standards demanded by the leading picture agencies.
Canon’s DIGIC 4 works with the EOS 5D Mark II’s image sensor to deliver outstanding reproduction of colours and subtle tonal gradations. DIGIC 4 also delivers split-second start-up times, Face Detection AF in Live View mode, and additional HD movie recording.
The EOS 5D Mark II complements outstanding still imaging capabilities with Full HD (1080) video recording. Users can even shoot video to memory card without losing the ability to capture still images. An HDMI connection allows High Definition playback of footage and images on an HDTV.
The 3.0” Clear View LCD features 920,000 dot resolution, wide viewing angle and dual anti-reflective coatings – allowing ultra-detailed image review in a variety of conditions. Live View displays real-time images on the LCD, offering three types of auto focus: Quick AF, Live AF, and Face Detection Live AF, which locks onto faces detected in the frame.
Canon’s built-in dust prevention system offers three ways of guarding images against the effects of dust: reduction of internal dust generation; an in-camera sensor cleaning mechanism; and the ability to map stubborn dust spots for removal with Digital Photo Professional software (included).
With a magnesium alloy construction, environmental protection and shutter durability of 150,000 releases, the EOS 5D Mark II is equally suited to location or studio work.
