Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

+ It has a quality build feel about it - that's very reassuring. It is very responsive, giving you the confidence in framing and capturing the shot.

+ Image stabilization works well although does use more battery. Image quality is excellent even at maximum zoom. Build quality is good for the price.

+ Fantastic lense for a wide variety, i can use it for macro shots 5-6ft away, to create a great blurry background on portraits or simply take a landscape photo bypassing some bad foreground! Would recommend to anyone, especially given the price!

- Slightly noisy but it isn't usm motor so to be expected.

- plastic mount

+ The image stabilistaion (IS) is an excellent function for hand held shots. the image clarity is not perfect but € for € you.re nor going to get any better for twice the price.
Having the experience of it and knowing what i know now about it, Would I buy it again YES ! Without a doubt.

- Plastic mount is a little cheap. if you change the focal length you have to refocus. All minor details in the bigger picture.

- A bit long when fully extended but not a problem

+ This lens has hardly been off my camera since I bought it! It produces excellent pictures, even at slower shutter speeds, hand-held, thanks to the image stabilisation. I've used it alot recently at music festivals, on 1600 ISO, without flash, and have been very pleased with the results. It's also good for portraits.

- very slow at auto focusing not good for taking action shots.

+ For the money this is a great lens and works, as expected, very well with the Canon Eos 450D that I use.

- Lens can throw shadow over light detector on ESO 450 causing flash to activate

+ Light in weight - so not difficult to hold steady when using it even at maximum power.
Auto focus is quick and very precise.
Can flatter the amateur - I am making very sharp focused shots with excellent definition.
A very good lens - and at the price an exceptional lens.
Overall, delighted with the performance

- Only bad point is that it is non usm.
