+ Can just point & shoot if you want, or use the features.
Compact size.
Good quality.

- Features a little over complicated for this type of camera, and not as intuitive as others I have tried.
Supplied SD card totally inadequate, they might as well not bother including it.

+ I spent a long time researching what camera I wanted to by; I'm not an expert photographer or anything but I love playing around with them and it was important to me to get a good quality one. My previous camera had been the model before this and I loved it, unfortunately I made the mistake of taking it on nights out and university and after many drops it finally broke. However, this is such an upgrade. Far superior, with many more features that I have yet to discover but also don't feel the need to just yet. I love Canon's and will continue to by them. They have excellent battery power and the photo quality is incredible, with crisp images. My favourite feature so far is 'Macro Digital' which astounds me with its precision.

- The only thing I can possible think of is that the spin dial is a bit hard to maneuver and it can take a little longer than on the old model to change settings. But it is nothing particularly of note and I don't mind it. I read all the reviews on it and am glad I ignored the bad comments as none of them have been true for me.

+ Good solid design,Large viewing screen,Lots of features, Good quality pictures,Good compact size.

- Understanding how to operate all the various features [ you have to view the instructions on the disc on the computer]. I would have preferred an instruction booklet which i think would have been more convenient to refer back to.

Expert reviews for Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS

TechRadar expert review

According to Canon, the Ixus 90 IS offers 'a new benchmark in crafted camera design', with its 'chiselled look'. Compared with some of the most stylish new slimline cameras from the likes of Casio and Fujifilm, the blocky, rectangular look of the Ixus 90 IS has all the sex appeal of a brick. However, lurking beneath the somewhat uninspiring but tough aluminium shell of the new Ixus is some serious technology. From front to back, this includes everything from Canon's tried and trusted IS optical image stabilising system to a sharp and clear three-inch LCD, which offers accurate contrast…

Look sharp.

Chiselled IXUS
As if carved from a single chunk of metal, the Digital IXUS 90 IS feels solid in the hand. The smooth flat key control panel enhances the camera’s unified feel. A Multi Control Dial makes it quick and simple to change settings, review images and scroll through menus.

10.0 Megapixels
A 10.0 Megapixel sensor captures images in fine detail, enabling creative trimming and poster size printing.

3x optical Image Stabilizer lens
Advanced UA (Ultra-High Refractive Index Aspherical) lens technology from Canon fits a powerful 3x optical zoom lens into the compact form of the Digital IXUS 90 IS. An optical Image Stabilizer (IS), helps you capture blur-free images in low-light and when shooting with the zoom.

3.0" PureColor LCD II
A huge high resolution 3.0” PureColor LCD II offers stunning reproduction of images and ease of shooting. An exceptionally wide viewing angle makes it easy to share your images with a group, while impressive colour contrast keeps the screen visible even in intense light.

Motion Detection Technology
There’s no need to worry about blur with Motion Detection Technology. This clever feature compensates for camera shake and subject movement while maximising image quality.

Face Detection Technology
Face Detection Technology ensures superb people shots by automatically setting optimum focus, exposure, flash and white balance. Face Select and Track lets you choose and track your primary subject, so you never lose a special face in the crowd.

Red-Eye Correction
Red-Eye Correction quickly and easily removes red-eye in camera. It can be set to remove red-eye automatically as you shoot, or during playback mode, making eyes look natural again.

DIGIC III and iSAPS
Canon’s DIGIC III processor provides lightning quick responses, superb image quality and advanced noise reduction for sharper, clearer images. iSAPS technology uses shooting scene data to optimise camera settings even before a shot is taken.

Shooting Modes and My Colors
19 shooting modes include Sunset, Indoor and Underwater Special Scene modes which optimise camera settings for the easy capture of popular subjects. My Colors in-camera photo effects can be applied during or after shooting.

Movie Options
Movie modes include Long Play (LP) for VGA (30fps) clips that use half the normal memory card space. Capture a gradual scene like a sunrise or blooming flowers for accelerated playback with Time Lapse movie.
