I am very pleased with the Breville VKJ367. It is a nice looking piece of equipment. After following the instructions to discard the first tank of water, I enjoyed a mug of tea. Delicious!
The first time the Hot Cup is used from cold it takes 60 seconds to fill a mug. If you use it again it takes 50 seconds. Much better than a kettle and no wasted boiled water. The dispense control is consistant and there is very little splashing. - Bad points:
- The lid flap would be improved if it could be made to open fully. It would make it much easier to fill the tank, even when using a jug which in itself is easier than filling under a tap.

Quick Overview
3kW Fast boil, 1.8 Litre capacity, Brita filter hot cup with variable dispense
Product Description
The Breville VKJ367 Brita Filter Hot Cup with Variable Dispense offers boiling hot water at the touch of a button to deliver delicious hot drinks in an instant. This marks the third generation of the innovative Breville Hot Cup and builds upon past successes as Breville has teamed up with Brita, the top name in water filtering, to offer a Hot Cup with Brita filter technology.
The Breville VKJ367 Brita Filter Hot Cup with Variable Dispense uses Brita filter technology which works as the kettle is boiling. This Brita filter uses a mixture of carbon and ion exchange resin to remove hardness, chlorine, heavy metals such as lead and copper, and other organic impurities from your water to improve its taste, smell and appearance.
The VKJ367 includes a recyclable Brita Maxtra cartridge which features a Memo display that automatically reminds you when your filter cartridge needs to be changed.
The Filter Hot Cup with Variable Dispense is designed to boil a cup of water in a matter of seconds—40 to be precise, five less than the first generation Hot Cup—meaning great hot drinks at the touch of a button. The innovative patented technology ensures that water is only dispensed once it has reached boiling point, not simply very warm, but 100 degrees Celsius, making perfect hot drinks every time. In addition, the smooth and continuous flow of water keeps any splashing to a minimum.
By only boiling enough water for the number of cups you need, the Filter Hot Cup with Variable Dispense is economical and energy efficient. There’s no boiled water going to waste and it helps you save pennies on electricity bills.
Like your cup of tea a little on the large side? Or just looking for a small slurp of coffee to get you going in the morning? Take your pick with the Variable Dispense control. This feature allows you to choose from nine different sizes of cup, so there’s no need to half-fill a large cup or overspill with a small one.
Simply select the amount of water you require with the Variable Dispense dial located on the top of the unit. Adjust the dial to your chosen setting. For smaller amounts set the dial towards the tea cup icon—the smallest available, and for larger amounts set towards the mug icon—the largest available. If unsure about which setting to use, use a lower setting until you get a better understanding of the amounts.
Providing you with further control is the Manual Stop function. This enables you to interrupt and halt progress at any stage. If you’ve decided you don’t fancy a cuppa after all, press the button immediately to stop the boil sequence. Or even later in the cycle, press it to stop water that is being dispensed. The Manual Stop means you can pour just as much as you want and don’t have to worry about overflowing.
The Filter Hot Cup with Variable Dispense features a fast boil 3 kilowatt (kW) concealed element which delivers maximum efficiency and keeps the water tank easy to clean. The large 1.8 litre (l) capacity water tank is also easy to fill thanks to its lid release button. Press the button down to open and then fill the water tank with fresh, cold water just like you would a kettle.
The extra-large rear water window helps you accurately fill the water tank and once filled, you can place it back on the base facing any angle as it’s 360 degree (°) rotational. This means you don’t have to line it up in a certain place to function.
When activated, the tank illuminates to give a stylish blue glow to your kitchen. This modern design makes the Filter Hot Cup with Variable Dispense a sophisticated addition to your kitchen worktop. And it continues to look good even when not in use thanks to its smart stainless steel finish.
Mess is kept to a minimum as the drip tray at the base of the unit collects all stray spillages. It’s easily removable for cleaning and is dishwasher safe. Also doing its bit to help keep your kitchen workspace tidy is the cord storage. This coils loose and unused cord under the base of the unit so that it’s not swamping your kitchen and taking up unwanted space and the base itself is non-slip so you don’t have to worry about it slipping on your work surface.
