Bosch WAE 24464 reviews: Front Loading loading, 6kg capacity washing machine

+ Washing machines usually have many programmes and we generally only use about 3 but on this machine, because you can mix and match times and spin speeds, I find that this washer gives me a lot of choice and I find I am using a much wider range of programmes than I did on my old machine.

+ Excellent value for money - washes well and easy to use. A good number of wash cycles which all vary in length. Delay timer a great asset and easily programmed.

- Timer & programme settings are very sensitive to the touch and are quite easily knocked out of sync by someone either leaning or brushing past the machine - can be irritating if using the delayed timer and the wash never comes on as the start button has been accidentally knocked
Also it is a fairly noisy machine, especially during spins

- It's too easy to start the washing again at the end of the cycle as it is not obvious how to turn the machine off. However, a 1 minute draining option counteracts that as long as you realise what you've done in time.

+ Brilliant choice of sensible programmes, the 15min wash especially useful.The machine is very quiet; also love the countdown timer and the beep when finished !

+ Quick wash, choice of wash, the fact it tells you how long you have got to go is fantastic, really nice machine, great that it has an alarm to tell you the wash is finished because I sometimes forget and leave washing in machine. This does not let me forget.

+ Excellent Washing Machine. All wash programmes are fully adjustable. The drum is large and I can do a weeks washing (2 adult 2 young kids) in 3 loads (light, dark and 60). It washes quick but very effectively and the 15 min quick wash is excellent for those few forgoton items you always seem to find after doing the washing! I can really recommend this machine.

+ a good looking machine that's been a solid performer so far in use (5 months at time of writing)...the 'aqua plus' feature is very useful for heavy/soiled fabrics...wash cycles are fairly quiet in use although final spin is inevitably a bit noisy..feels reasonably solid and well built too..good choice of wash cycles should suit most domestic needs..the 40 minute 'easy care' option does me just fine...every thing has come out clean so far..
basically..its a bosch..it works as intended..to be honest..for something with moving parts that you're gonna rely on weekly..i wouldn't touch anything cheaper..installation requires a single cold water feed and a single drain outlet..(the water is heated internally)..so diy installation is a breeze if you have the right take off connectors on your sink tap pipework..took me miniutes flat to do..including drilling access hole through mdf for the pipework...
even if you are on a budget...consider this model (or the one below if you can make do with a slightly smaller drum) the absolute minimum quality you're willing to settle for...and don't skimp on the calgon either..=o]
i don't usually write reviews...but it was a good review that lead me through the maze of inferior machines to a satifying purchase..so i figured i'd return the favour..

- overall ergonomics are good but the touch sensitive buttons for the additional wash cycle options are a bit too prominent and easy to select/ de-select by mistake especially when a wash cycle is underway...some type of transparent sliding switch cover or olde fashioned push buttons would have made it preferable..BUT having said that it really just a minor niggle simply because i have a tiny kitchen and you tend to avoid it once you're used to its sensitivity..this machine does actually look good and the digital display more than looks the part..realtime digital countdown timer showing remaining minutes is especially cool..

- It would be better if there is more choice for the programs in 'gentle spin'.Because I have to wait 12 minutes for after hand washing my blouse.(1 or 2 minues is enough).

+ Have been using the machine each night on economy seven using the timer and I never heard it once. Cleans the clothes well and dries them well on 1200 (which is the only setting I have used so far) Very good, no complaints to date.

- the rubber seal on the door tends to have water in after a wash. I use the washing liquid in the gell and sometimes the gell is sitting in the seal when i open the door after a wash. Only a minor complaint I guess, and pretty goof that it's the worst that I can come up with.

- The "touch sensitive" buttons can sometimes be awkward to select.

+ Good machine/ easy to select the right wash and temperature setting. Also it tells you how long each wash cycle will be. Delayed start option so you can have it finish the wash as you come back from work or when you wake up - Ready to put on the washing line.

- Nothing springs to mind, you may want a more powerful spin speed, perhaps a 1400 but it probably makes little difference in the drying time and is about £50 more expensive!

- NO HOT FILL - this is bad, especially for anyone using solar-heated water. My electricity bill has shot up. With no other changes at home, it must be due to the new washing machine.

Much quieter than my last machine (an LGintello) which was supposedly the quietest machine on the market.

- It's white not silver which I would have preffered.

+ It's a simple and robust machine. Easy to use from day one - not had any problems with it and my clothes are so bright and clean! I love the delayed start function - I use it all the time and it makes things very efficient. the end of cycle alarm is really useful too as I always forget about the washing!

- Can't reduce the amount of water used for small loads, and when I use Ecover it doesn't seem to rinse all the powder out - but I may be putting too much washing in for the cycle. Can be a bit noisy when spinning but that's fairly normal.

+ display is handy, spin dry is excellent, great to tailor programmes to individual needs (but not complicated to use)
