Bosch SGS-45C02 Reviews: Freestanding, 60cm wide, White Dishwasher

+ Quiet dishwasher
Simple to use
display indicator is helpful

- Plastic parts/turbines inside washer look cheap
Lot of diffierent instruction booklets and setting up guides.

+ Cleaning quality

- Cycle time over 2 hours

+ Makes everything squeaky clean even on the eco wash cycle. I can listen to the TV or radio without any problems - I can hear the machine, but it doesn't interfere with anything else.

- slightly awkward shelf for knives above the upper level, making it a bit difficult to put glasses under it, but a very small complaint. The cycles are surprisingly long, but as they are effective I am not complaining!

Good cycle options though only ever had to use the 30min wash.

- Annoying that there isn't an off button independent of the wash cycles.
Prongs are a bit too many which makes loading a little difficult.
Not too loud but enough so ones aware.

+ It's quiet. Seems well built and washes well. I thought it was good value for money and is energy efficient (if that can be said of any dishwasher). The choice of programs is limited but more than adequate for me as I would not use any others.

- The stacking is not as good as my previous AEG. It is hard to load tall wine glasses and dropping the top shelf leaves no room for large plates. The two top racks need serious review. The left hand one is a good idea for long utensils but you can't flip it up out of the way when unloading. It needs to be shortened so you can flip it to the vertical position without fouling the carcass of the machine. The right hand one seems too much in the middle - you can't get a mug under it and have it flat which makes it awkward to put small thins on top. Finally it doesn't seem to dry that well - but I accept that that may be the proce of energy efficiency.

- a big gap between qiuck wash and other programmes. Noisy compared with my old Bosch that lasted for well over 15 years! Not so good for tall glasses

- Top tray doesn't take very long stemmed wine glasses, if you drop the top tray down it then you can't put large plates in the bottom tray. Some of the wash cycles are long.

+ This was a replacement for a 10 year old Bosch & the interior layout is much the same with the addition of a narrow plastic shelf which runs the depth of the top shelf for knives. A name I trust & familliar layout Quickwash is effective The showerhead attachment for washing baking trays etc with more force

- THE TOP RIGHT-HAND SHELF IS AWKWARD TO USE UNLESS YOUR CROCKERY HAS THE SAME PROFILE AS THE SHELF. THE KNIFE HOLDER ON THE TOP SHELF'S LEFT, ALTHOUGH USEFUL AT TIMES, GETS IN THE WAY OF LOADING THE LEFT SHELF. IF YOU REMOVE IT THEN LOADING IS EASY, BUT YOU END UP WITH A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT LYING AROUND, GETTING IN THE WAY.

+ Even with full dirty load, and only ECO-Cycle sparkling results. Very economical. We are only 2 in our household and need to run it every 2-3 days and still all the grease comes off. We are very happy with this particular choice.

+ Quite efficient and quiet for our use, which is normally once per day and for moderate quantities. Timer enables easy setting for overnight use.

- Cutlery tray is inflexible in its orginal position; the slotted sections need to be clipped open for acceptable use. Generally the cleaning is less satisfactory than an earlier, similar Bosch. Drying less satisfactory and extrea drying not available.

+ Cleans well and dries well. Is nice and quiet.

- Cycle times are rather long if you don't use half load. The curlery tray above the top rack makes loading quite difficult unless you lower the rack. Choice of wash cycles is limited.

+ This dishwasher cleans very well, and it's great to have a timer so you can see how long it has left to run. It's quiet and simple to operate.

- This dishwashers fails to dry properly, especially on the eco setting. Previous dishwashers I have had fully dry articles at the end of the cylce but when you open the door on this one there is water everywhere! This is frustrating since you end up having to do the drying up after all. Also the top rack has a plastic tray on the left hand side, whilst this is useful for large utensils the rack does not pull out far enough to flip this tray up properly which makes loading at the far back left side rather awkward.

+ have only used the 30 minute programme, I find this works very well. I only use a dishwasher tablet, not salt or rinse-aid. It's also very quiet. We had last dish-washer 20 years, so I hope this lasts as long.

+ This only has a basic range of programmes, but it washes very well. Uses less power and water than our old dishwasher. Good value for money.

- Not especially quiet, and the programme cycles seem a little longer than our old Bosch dishwasher. Neither are significant problems however.

- lower basket rattles when sliding in and out, programs take a long time and when I switch it on to start I have to switch it on and off and on again to start! Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the switching on but can't work out what it is!

- Fast cycle doesn't dry too well. Fiddly to load under knife rack, but not really a problem.

+ you can have a time delay. That means you can set it up for mid-night cycle using cheap electricity.

- 1cycle is 144mins! it says normal usage of water is 13litres which is for short-cycle. If use normal full cycle it uses 17litres of water! It uses so much energy.

+ Bosch quality with no expensive gimmicks

- You can get faster machines and more choices ... but you'll have to pay much more

+ It is easy to use & performs extremely well. It's a great time saver!

- Perhaps not quite the same build quality as its predecessor (my previous Bosch dishwasher lasted 10 years), but if it lasts anywhere near as long I'll be happy.

- The design of the top basket. You can't lift the rack up to put things underneath at as the drawer does't clear the machine to allow it.

+ LED display of time left to run on the program is useful.

- LED timer only seems to register against the 'wash' cycle, so will say no time left even when the dishwasher has only just started the drying cycle. Would be good if it indicated that the washing had finished and it was now drying.
