+ The phone has some very good and easy to use functions, and the ability to have email on the move and keep in contact with other colleagues and friends with Yahoo is fantastic. The built in satnat is also very good and works well.

- However the ability to synchronise with Apple-Mac is very poor, the software included with the phone is only for PC and there is not currently a sync software for mac that can be downloaded that truly works as you would expect. Given that more people are switching to Mac and that is rated as the best computer system on the market and the Blackberry is also know to be the best PDA phone on the market I find it hard to beleive that I must be the only person to be disapointed with that. But apart from that and the limited battery life the phone is fantastic as a stand alone product

+ Feels nice to use. Sound quality good. Excellent memory and email feature as i expected.

- Battery not very durable. Quite hard work uploading information from other sources or synchronising to my other platforms. Setting up the email account took over 2 weeks as no-one i called at the centres was particularly helpful and everyone kept saying it would sort itself out...

+ was very easy to set up and receive email (this was main reason for purchase)

- Battery life well short of what is claimed
I'd be lucky to get 48 hours with minimal use - which worries me if away from recharger and had to use phone heavily!

+ Excellent all round business tool - great for email, messenger, calendar, notes etc. Music player is better than previous models, good memory card capacity (up to 4Gb microSD, with current firmware version)

- Headphones could be a better fit, but that's just personal preference - I hate the earbud type, as they don't stay in my ears

+ It is very easy to use most of the time.

- Occasionally locks up and removing the battery does not help, you need to leave it for ages to clear itself. Battery life could be better

Expert reviews for BlackBerry Curve 8310

TechRadar expert review

RIM's (Research In Motion) BlackBerry has changed the way corporate users interact with their phones, with more and more people using them for email and office tasks, rather than for their phone functionality. The latest device, the Curve 8310 (free on contract) is an evolution of the handset, offering a few more features, a subtly different style and the same usability as previous BlackBerrys.Finished in grey and black, the edges of the 8310 are made from a rubber-like plastic. In addition to adding style, we also found it tactile, easier to grip and robust. As with previous models, th…

BlackBerry's slowing rolling out GPS across its range of smartphones, but should it bother? We try and get lost with the latest, the BlackBerry Curve. Apart from coming in a metal grey rather than silver, you would be forgiven if at first glance if you didn't notice anything different about the 8310 over the 8300...
