Score 10.0/10+ Great keyboard for e-mailing and texting. Cracking screen which is nice and bright and videos look lovely on it. The sound from the internal speaker is really good and through the supplied earbuds is very very good. Just a great phone overall.
- Out of the box battery life is bad but gets better with regular charges.. DO NOT let the battery run right down, always keep it topped up as modern batteries don't work like older styles. The firmware which comes on the phone doesn't help the battery, a simple upgrade turn the battery into a differnt bit of kit.. i can easily get 3 days from mine now if I turn off the wi-fi and bluetooth while not using them.

Paul, Widnes , “first time blackberry user”
Score 10.0/10+ This is my first blackberry and I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to get used to using it, but I have found the ease of use pleasantly surprising. Its fantastic and not complicated in anyway whatsoever, after I spent my first few days navigating around the menu I can find my way round it and customised it to my own preferences. I actually thought I would spend hours/days on end reading the user guide, but all the help from a user guide is in the phone itself. I dont consider myself to be knowledgeable when it comes to technology, but I would certainly recommend this device to anyone who is unsure about whether or not to have a blackberry or go for a more basic device. Its great, I can't say no more really other than that.
- I'm struggling here.....but there are two very minor "bad" points. In the help section of managing messages it says to delete multiple messages, hold down the ALT key and scroll down the message list highlighting the messages and then press the menu key and select delete messages. That is wrong, you dont use the ALT key, but the left 'shift/CAPS' key next to the 0 (zero).....oh and the sat nav icon wasn't pre-loaded when it said it should be, but I sorted that out over the phone in less than 5 minutes.

Patrick, Chelmsford , “I'm a Blackberry devotee.”
Score 8.0/10+ The Bold is undoubtedly the most impressive Blackberry yet. One of its greatest advantages is that having had Blackberrys for a number of years, in spite of its many new features, it feels very familiar. Web browsing is almost broadband speed and its looks speak for themselves.
- My first Bold had an power key malfunction and had to be replaced. This is the first time I have ever experienced problems with a Blackberry. The only other criticisms I have is very poor battery life, probably due to the amount of technology it has to support, and the camera specification is not in keeping with such a sophisticated piece of technology.

Score 9.0/10+ qwerty keyboard is great - web browsing is adequate, fast enough for my requirements - love the look of the Blackberry - very easy to use - didnt need to use the manual at all [and I am the worlds worst at figuring things out !!!!]

Score 9.0/10+ Had phone a month-still think it's superb all round. No freezing up or software issues-it just works.
- Battery life about 48hrs with steady usage-about the norm for smartphones these days.

Score 9.0/10+ The overall appearance and ease of use has been a worthwhile purchase.
- Phone cuts off for no reason. Problems with software. Unable to receive tones etc via bluetooth.

Score 9.0/10+ Having carried a PDA & Mobile for years it is great to have just one thing to carry. Texting with a qwerty key pad is great. WIFI is excellent
- Phone recepion is not good where I live, with my old mobile it was OK. The Blackberry is useless for phone calls at home as it has even worse reception than my old phone.

Emma, Birmingham , “Experienced, knowledgable phone user”
Score 9.0/10+ This is the best phone I have ever had, i would never have another brand of phone. Blackberry's are the way forward. At first, it is not the easier to use. However once you're used to the features and how to use them all, it is an absolute pleasure and nothing is a hardship. The best thing about it is that it is 100% customisable, from the icons on the front to what you want in each folder. This is on top of all the basic personalisation features.
- keeps crashing, battery only lasts two days at most and with minimal use.

Emails very good. I have quite a few email addresses and have them all on the Blackberry.
Keyboard very good for writing stuff - as I don't do text slang.
The browser is great on mobile sites.
The organiser is good but can't set multiple alarms on an individual appointment or reminder.
Google search and maps add on application is good with GPRS position finder.
-
3G, Orange and GPRS signal is non existent in some areas, rendering the phone and all its features useless - I expected better than this - of course it's not the phones fault!
Browser is not much good when viewing non mobile sites - too much scrolling and zooming in all directions..
Camera is not great quality, and the flash/metering is not intelligent enough to produce decent photos when there is any kind of backlighting to the subject.
No pdf reader
Many of the downloadable add on apps are over expensive and not particularly good - more and better need to be available please.

Expert reviews for BlackBerry Bold 9000
TechRadar expert review
With its large screen, fast internet connection ‚Äì using both Wi-Fi and HSDPA - camera, sophisticated media player, GPS and more, the Blackberry Bold would seem to fit the profile of an iPhone challenger, but such talk is largely irrelevant ‚Äì the two are aimed at different markets, and while the iPhone might be an excellent entertainment station, the Bold is the one that means business. It makes business look good though ‚Äì all seriously stylish black and chrome with a leather-look textured back that should stop it slipping off those City boardroom tables (which seem a touch shaky …
