+ Brilliant laptop. So easy to use and stylish too. Does everything I need it to and more. The Snow Leopard operating system is an improvement on the great Tiger OSX. There are new application as standard, like Garage Band, which is so much fun. iChat is brilliant and makes video conferencing and IMing really easy. Anyone could use a Mac and have great fun with it. I bought iWorks to go with my Mac and it is the perfection addition for all your publishing needs, from reports to invitations and even finance projections. I would highly recommend the macbook. I would be lost without it now.

- Apart from the text on websites appearing a little small on the 13" model, there are really no bad points. If there is a way to make it bigger I haven't figured it out yet.

+ Very impressed both with the build quality and the Mac operating system. Far superior than the old Windows OS, hence the higher price tag.

- The new Snow Leopard operating system doesn’t support Mobile Broadband, no mention to this before upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6.

+ Brilliant operating system which rarely crashes, unlike Windows. Fast start-up and close down. Built in applications mean you can be up and running from out of the box. Good support from independent forums and from Apple. No need for extra printer drivers as included with Snow Leopard. Ability to run Windows if needed.

- Only two USB ports. External monitor requires adaptor at extra cost which was included with iBook. Memory and hard drive capacity small as supplied - cost of larger official memory and hard drive high - need to shop around. Shame that iWorks not included.

+ This is a fantastic machine, great looking and really performs well - particularly with video and photo editing, which is what I bought it for.
Being traditionally a Windows user, the Snow Leopard operating system was easy to get used to and after a day or so, I could quickly find my way around. The included iLife software is also excellent.

- None so far!

Laptop Buyers' Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Everything comes together beautifully.
With its faster Intel processor, faster memory, and larger hard drive, MacBook is a full-powered, full-featured, do-it-all notebook.

Gamers rejoice.
The NVIDIA GeForce 9400M brings amazing graphics performance to MacBook, so you can enjoy your favorite 3D games — from Spore to Call of Duty — with fast, seamless gameplay. Graphics-intensive features in iPhoto and iMovie are smooth and responsive. Movies and video offer rich colors and fine details. NVIDIA performance even makes a difference as you flip through your music library with Cover Flow or use Dashboard.

The storage you want. The memory you need.
Music, photos, and movies — not to mention your documents and other files — start adding up. So MacBook offers plenty of storage space. It includes a larger 160GB hard drive with options up to a voluminous 500GB.1 And it comes standard with 2GB of memory (with support for up to 4GB), so you can run multiple applications smoothly and efficiently.

Power under the hood.
Inside the MacBook is a powerful 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor based on advanced Core microarchitecture. MacBook provides a fast 1066MHz frontside bus and 3MB of shared L2 cache, so you’ll have more than enough horsepower to get the job done.

Wi-Fi that takes you anywhere. No matter where.
Built-in 802.11n wireless capabilities2 mean you can connect at work-friendly speeds wherever you are. Wi-Fi networks show up right on your desktop. Just click and connect, and you can surf the web, send email, video chat, and more.3 Use Bonjour to easily share files with other users on the network. And stay in sync with your Bluetooth-enabled phone courtesy of Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

Ports with possibilities.
MacBook offers plenty of advanced digital connections for your iPhone, iPod, camera, and other devices. Use the mini-DVI port to extend your MacBook desktop by connecting an external display. Or connect a projector to show your work on the big screen. But why stop there? MacBook also includes two USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 400 port, Gigabit Ethernet, audio input and headphone jacks, and a convenient lock slot.

Burn CDs and DVDs.
MacBook comes standard with a SuperDrive. What makes it super? You can burn your own CDs or DVDs to back up data, create your own music mixes, or, using the included iDVD software, burn Hollywood-caliber iMovie creations and watch them on a DVD player.

Power play.
The MagSafe Power Adapter has just that: a magnetic connection instead of a physical one. So tripping over a power cord won’t send your new MacBook flying off a table or desk. The cord breaks cleanly away, without damage to either the cord or the system.

Two-finger scroll.
With two-finger scrolling, the trackpad becomes a fast track to wherever you want to go. And if you come from a right-click world, it’s easy to make the MacBook fit in your comfort zone. Just place two fingers on the trackpad and click the button for easy right-click functionality.

iChat screens
Be everywhere at once.

iSight
Cleverly integrated — almost hidden — at the top of the MacBook display is an iSight camera. Use it with iChat, and you can be anywhere without actually being there. Video chat with up to three of your friends, share a video with a colleague, or present to a client.3 Use iSight with Photo Booth for fun photo effects. And there’s no need to waste valuable primping time installing software or configuring the camera. Like everything Mac, iSight just works.
