+ The Apple iPod Touch 32GB is a superb piece of design. The way it handles your music tracks and photos is amazing. It's a real gadget fan's gadget and second to none as far as MP3 players are concerned due to the sheer number of additional features. Google mapping, internet surfing, the ability to purchase from iTunes on the move, together with all the other features expected of an iPod. The accelerometer built in knows how you are holding the device and orientates your photos to give the best view, all automatically. Altogether a great peice of kit and one well worth buying.

- The only poor feature is one of the new additions to the latest iPod Touch, which is the built in external speaking, which creates relatively poor sound. It is no really meant to be a loudspeaker, but purely so if surfing the likes of You Tube, you can play a video clip to friends without them all having to have a headphone, so I can understand why it is that way. However if a product is worth designing, it is worth designing well, so I feel the addition of a decent speaker, or better still stereo speakers, should have been considered as the cost differential would be slight. I assume the space required was restricted.

+ Light and Stylish.
Excellent Touch Screen.
Music - Great
Videos - Great
Email - Superb
Safari Internet - Genius
Dual Touch Pinch to expand or shrink email / Web pages - Excellent

- Can't use it as a file storage device (e.g memory stick)
Can't save YouTube Videos or web graphics or web pages for off-line viewing
Can't rotate email views.
Can't save maps for when you are out of range of a WiFi Signal.
Mains charging Adaptor is not included.
Fragile (does not bounce).
On-screen touch keyboard is a bit fiddly.
A stylus would be very helpful.
Does not work if you are wearing gloves.
Needs games. I would love to see iTouch Backgammon on it.

+ It's an overall great product

- Fantastic product, only 2 minor gripes: It could do with a couple of more apps, eg. Currency exchange rates. Previous ipods weere easier to control when it was in my inside pocket through jacket lining without taking the ipod out. I could skips tracks and adjust volume with one hand while on the train without drawing too much attention. Not possible on this though as you need to touch and slide things on the flat screen so you are forced to take it out of your pocket to do so, unlock, navigate menu screens etc.

+ The design is so sleek it's looks amazing. Lots of good features (if it had a camera it would be the ultimate accessory). Very portable and menu's etc are very easy to use. Sound quality is also excellant.

- Battery life could be a lot better. Very expensive for what you get could do with a few extra features. Back of ipod is also very easy to scratch which is very annoying (i put mine back into it's box until my invisible shield arrived).

+ Helped to reduce my television viewing time. I absolutely love it (I'm a 58 year old grandmother). My grandchildren think I am reasonably 'with it' just because I carry an Ipod with me. I do use it every day - I've even started to read the books on it. Glad I got the docking station as well as I can view my photo's in a bigger format.

- Battery life could be better.

+ Love the design. Good quality screen to watch you tube downloads, movies.

- When down loading your own personal cd library, itunes do not automatically pick up the art work. You have to go a round about way to get the art work, which can take longer than the down load of your music

- It's a little fiddly to hold due to the whole of the front screen being sensitive.

+ Design design design. Amazed at the battery life I've been getting even with the WiFi turned on it's not to bad, but for long life turn WiFi off when not needed, video quality is very good, it has replaced my Palm I love this product.

- current lack of apps for non hacked, but that will change soon :-), battery life when Wifi on, but I would not compromise that for the design so perhaps that is not a bad point for me, but to some it maybe. Price needs to come down to make it a wow product.

Expert reviews for Apple iPod Touch 32GB 2nd Generation

TechRadar expert review

Last year's launch of the iPod touch caught us in a grumpy mood. The problem wasn't so much that we hated it; on the contrary, the fluid, genuinely revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface wowed everyone who used it, and with its built-in 802.11g WiFi and svelte, classy good looks, it was undoubtedly a technical and design feat that only Apple could have pulled off. No, our gripe was just that we'd seen it all before with the iPhone, and that the first iPod touch was simply an iPhone with bits ripped out. And remember, with the first release of the touch, it wasn't just that it lacked …
