Advent 4490 Reviews: Windows XP Home 8.9" Screen Laptop computer

+ Its light got a fair bit of RAM and storage space and a good wireless range

- Lack of disk drive

+ light weight, ease of use, clear monitor, keyboard and quick boot up.
Perfect electronic diary and filofax.

- no cd drive, programs loaded via data stick, remote cd drive or usb.
Quite a lot of heat if in use on your lap for long periods using the battery charger.

+ Size and look

- Performance very slow - unable to deliver basic word processing function for a GCSE student

+ The laptop comes self loaded with the standard programmes. It has a good battery life, The keyboard feels great and is very responsive when typing at all speeds

- Battery life . I also wish it had CD disk attached (even though I know this would mess up other strong points)

- wouldn't recommended for long time use due to small screen, makes your eyes sore due to small type

- even for my small hands , i still prefer to use a convential size laptop -
the key board is very confined and at first I found i had fatfingers ie I was typing two letters at a time.

+ The laptop is small and lightweight, the screen is very clear and perfect for watching videos on (I often hook this up to my 32" tv and picture quality is great)

- Battery life is limited and for extended use the charger is essential.

- dislike the "mouse", prefer to use a Optical Mouse [Own personal choice]

Again, not brilliant battery life goes with small size

- Standard display mode too small to display some application windows correctly. Works fine with external display

- recovery system needed an up grade before the computer could be used. Recovery should be provided on a memory stick

- too small, not powerful enough, miss disk and overall used to a higher standard, however value for money i guess its ok

+ Purchased as a birthday present for an eleven year old girl, therefore size and weight important.
Ideal for youngsters to access net, and social networking sites(viz webcam)

- Personally, as an older, more experienced user, I wouldn't be comfortable with the keyboard layout as not quite fitting the norm.

- buying on line, as you can never buy in secret, so as a surprise for some one else for get it. we allways get unwanted email about it.

- Screen Resolution, very basic, so limiting any editing of material, Needs a case to protect the item.

+ does what i want it to do, quite smart. excellent for refurbished product, would think is was new.

- dont get full hard drive as listed on advert and machine. shown as 120gb but actual 110gb. dont know if this is because it is a refurb or just the thee way the hd is setup, as no instructions/manuals etc with machine. i think it is the latter.

+ Small, the size and weight of a hardback book. Does exactly what it's supposed to - portable browsing and writing. Very good value for money.

- Battery life not great, but you can buy bigger batteries. A few years ago the battery life would be much less for a machine of this sizeand a good deal more cash.
