Score 9.0/10+ I love the look and the feel of this notebook. It is just the right size and weight and the graphics are lovely and crisp.
- The battery is not quite as long lasting as I would like but I don't really think that is a real detriment as I like the notebook itself!

Score 10.0/10+ I bought this on the sole purpose for my uni work. Ideal to carry around and study on the move. Very cute little thing, simply ideal.
-
Battery life isn't good so make sure you travel with your charger. Maximum 2 hours. If you not doing too much on it at once.
Don't buy this as a substitute for saving money on a laptop, the netbook performance is for basic usage.

Performance much better than I expected. Plays games (other than the latest ones) very well and perfect for web browsing and office apps. Nice, light design, clear screen
This laptop is a rebranded MSI WIND U100, which is rated as an excellent netbook in many places. You can even upgrade the BIOS to an MSI WIND version which allows overclocking to 1.9GHz if you are confident to do this. I've done it with no problems (so far) though the cpu will run hotter so dont overclock it unless you have to (e.g. running a cpu intensive game) and ensure the fan vents are clear to ensure the cpu can be cooled!
-
Battery life (with supplied 3-cell battery) not great - couple of hours at best with non-intensive use. Could possibly increase by turning off everything you dont need and using "ECO" mode (that I discovered by accident and still dont know how to change the settings on!
Note that the memory supplied is 1GB, but what isnt advertised is that this is supplied as 512KB on board and a 512KB plug in module already supplied. Only one plug in slot, so you cant take it to the maximum 2GB by buying a 1GB module (you would need to buy a 2GB module and switch off the on-board memory in the BIOS) - I think this is different from the standard MSI Wind version of this laptop, which comes with 1GB on board and nothing in the slot.

- The only bad point is that it didn't have Office 2007. I did know this when I bought it it was just a hassle getting it loaded. That was the only thing that reduced the rating.

Score 7.0/10+ Great bit of kit when connected to mains but limited to a couple of hours max of light use when off mains. Excellent add-ons such as web cam, bluetooth and card reader make it ideal for keeping in touch and transferring data.

Score 1.0/10+ One would think recon were very good because of the service items receive before dispatch.
- First delivery - power cable faulty - sent item back. 2nd delivery not working - wouldn't start up. This was a birthday and festive celebration gift which was two weeks late before sending back and forth - very poor standard of service. No recompense and apology and to make it worse delay in paying back. Wouldn't use this company ever again or recommend it to friends and family!

- The track pad is so small that it is giving me cramp, so I will be buying a mouse which I do not like, the battery life is low, about an hour, rather than the 3 that is listed.

Expert reviews for Advent 4211
TechRadar expert review
Advent is PC World's in-house brand, and provides home power and usability at affordable prices. While the Advent 4211c is a rebranded version of the 10.2-inch MSI Wind U100, its fantastic screen, interface and high-street availability make it a great choice. The slim chassis weighs just 1.1kg ‚Äì the same as all but the Samsung NC10. Its smooth black and silver styling looks great and suits both home and business use. The poor 167-minute battery life is bettered by all but the MSI U90, however, and limits mobility. Usability is one of the Advent's key strengths. The keyboard stretches…

PC World's Advent 4211 (¬£280 inc. VAT) was the Ô¨Årst in-house Netbook released by the high-street retailer. While it's merely a re-branded version of the MSI Wind, but only available in silver, it's still a fantastic Netbook with a stunning screen and great usability. The 1.1kg chassis is incredibly light and the black and silver design looks great. Tough build quality makes it resilient enough for constant mobile use. The small 3-cell battery runs for 167 minutes, which is low in comparison to its rivals, but suits the daily commute.Standout screenThe keyboard is great. Every key is…
