Score 9.0/10+ This is more than just a Netbook but a small Laptop in my mind. I've replaced Linux which is supplied with this product (which greatly holds it back) and installed Windows. I've also bought a Freeview TV USB stick and use it in the car when I'm parked. It works very well and will easily run the TV software in the corner of the screen whilst browsing the internet using Firefox without the CPU maxing out. Overall its a good solid product and is recommended.
- The Linux version (Linpus) supplied with this Netbook is very very poor. This Linux version although very fast has been cut down too much from the 'Fedora' Linux version which it is based upon and is not able to log onto a wLan using 'Ad Hoc' mode without using command line to create the connection each time you want to connect. This means the Netbook using this version of Linux cannot easily be connected to a Mobile connection and thus defeats the object of buying this Netbook. You want to use it on the road! The solution is to ditch this Linux version and either install Windows or another Linux version. Both should fix this issue.

Richard, Cardiff
Score 8.0/10+ Its size makes it wonderfully portable. The bright screen is usually easy to see, even when the lighting conditions would usually make it difficult. It has enough processor power and memory to run most of the games and applications I could possibly want. Despite the computers small size the keyboard is still easy to use.
-
The window manager! The window manager is terrible, it has been configured to try to be simple, and in doing so it has been thoroughly crippled. Even getting to customisation settings for more than the most basic things requires activating the options in the command line. The default file manager is abysmal, it pretends the folders on the expansion card are the same as the ones on the hard drive, which means if you use this file manager you never quite know where you've saved things until you take the card out and see what's missing. I installed Konqueror, and now use that for file management, and it is far better, although it never seems to know what to open a file with, and when you tell it to remember it goes through the motions, but doesn't actually remember. In short, I think it should be shipped with a standard Linux window manager, like Gnome, or my personal favourite KDE. Even having the option to switch to one of these would be a huge improvement.
I have only one problem with the hardware itself, and that is the power button, due to it's placement, it is impossible to tell whether it is on or off when the lid is closed, unless one of the other lights is on (e.g. caps lock). This could be easily remedied by having a second LED, separate from the power button, along the same row as the other indicators, just so the user can see what state it's in when closed.

Laptop Buyers' GuideManufacturer's Description
Acer redefines mobile connectivity with Aspire one, the revolutionary netbook packed with fun and powerful computing features in a diminutive 8.9" form factor.
SmartStart in just 15 seconds
From the moment you switch it on, the Aspire one is ready to go in just 15 seconds (with Linpus™ Linux® Lite version). That’s what we call a smart start. Once on, the interface is pure simplicity: a home screen divided into four areas that contain all the applications you need to stay connected, work, play, and organize your life on the road. And as your Aspire one is as unique as the way you use it, you can customize the applications on the home screen so that it’s just right for you. Fast, simple and indescribably chic. That’s your new life with the Aspire one.
Vision: One idea
How big is perfection? How small is ideal?
The Aspire one has an 8.9” CrystalBrite LED backlit LCD with 1024×600 resolution and an integrated CrystalEye™ webcam that offers just the right balance between easy-toread clarity and easy-to-use functionality. You could almost call it the perfect fit.
Power: One energy
Power comes in many forms. Often the smallest is the most powerful. The Aspire one comes with the Intel® Atom™ processor, built with the world’s smallest transistors and designed specifically for low power consumption while delivering the power and performance you need for full online freedom.
Style: One look
Your style is your signature. It is your identity, your personality your calling card. Your style tells the world who you are and how you live your life, both online and off. It is all you need to be yourself. Your style comes in different colours, each with its own individual character. So does the Aspire one.
Feeling: One freedom
Smaller than an average diary and weighing less than 1 kilo (models with NAND flash module), the Aspire one puts freedom in the palm of your hands. Freedom to use WiFi, WiMAX and 3G Networks* to explore new ways to connect, communicate and interact with the world you care about. Freedom to go beyond ultra-mobility. Freedom to be yourself anywhere you want to.
(* depending on network readiness)
Experience: One control
