+ Compact, quick and very portable. This is a grand wee machine, putting up with my incessant battering away at the keyboard.

- Came with Mircrosoft word 2007 which, presumably, was a trial. This became disabled very suddenly one day, when I was in the middle writing a time-constrained piece, after about 10/11 days of my receiving the computer. Caused me a lot of stress. Sorted now though and all is well once more.

+ Good looking, light, with a good battery life.and just the thing for working on when away from home but.....

- I was unprepared for it being so slow. It's like using my old desktop bought ten years ago. Leaving me with a feeling of enormous disappointment. I wanted reasonably quick internet response when away from home. No way am I going to get it on this machine.

+ Ideal compromise between size and function. Superb display. Slim and light.

- Slow processor makes it unusable with Microsoft bloatware on board. With Linux (ubuntu) loaded it performs excellently, although there is limited support for the GMA500 graphics chip, alhough a one line script now available on the ubuntu wiki which loads all necessary graphics support.

Expert reviews for Acer Aspire One 751 (Netbook) (4 hour battery life)

PC Advisor expert review

Netbooks are busting out of the 10in screen restriction, with the Acer Aspire One 751 a good affordable example of the type.Just when we thought every netbook would be consigned to the 10in-screen template, we find two in the same month with 11.6in displays. The Acer Aspire One 751 and Packard Bell dot m/a are related by more than just screen, though. Packard Bell is now a sub-brand within the expanding Acer Group that also includes Gateway and emachines. But where the PB flirts with AMD processors, the Acer Aspire One 751 uses more predictable Intel chippery, in the shape of the evergr…

TechRadar expert review

The Acer Aspire One is a prime example of the new breed of netbook. It's an attractive looking machine, and is available in four different colours. It's obvious that Acer want you to show off your Asipre One when out and about. As it weighs less than a kilo you will have no problem carrying it around with you. The flat keys of the keyboard feel a bit strange at first but it's a small price to pay for getting such a slim computer. The Aspire One has enough power for running Windows XP smoothly, though it struggles a bit with demanding applications. Websites can take a while to load, but …

Pocket Lint expert review

We've already fallen into the trap of calling this "the 11.6", a name that has something of an ethereal quality, and certainly rolls off the tongue better than Aspire One 751: after all, there is a whole family of "Ones". Previous Aspire One models haven't exactly been exciting in the design department, but now perhaps companies are starting to see the real benefits of a compelling netbook offering, we are seeing more adventurous designs...
