If you ain't got eyes like an Eagle be prepared to bring your magnifying glass with you,

Dell Inspiron 1525 T3400

Like vista but prefer office 2003 or 2007 no microsoft works 9.

Acer Aspire One A150-A 0.5GB 120GB

Mouse pad is a pain. Buttons would be better at the bottom rather than the side. Linux software is fine until you want to install something. My unit has a 160gb hard drive and there seems to be very little software to install and make use of. The most frustrating point about this is that ITUNES doesnt install which is the whole reason i bought the item. Having said all of that i really like it

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

I would like vista premiem not basic

HP G70-111EM

Like the number pad and the wide screen.

HP DV5-1213

Very nice, smart HP design, easy to carry around, not too heavy. A few extra things like lightscribe (designing the own labels on the discs), a remote (useful when watching films), various USB ports (6), so you dont have to swap printer, camera cable every time you want to use it. Didnt have any serious problems so far. Good for students (multitask computer e.g watching films, listening to music and working in Word, Excel, Powerpoint Documents at the same time)

eMachines E520-571G12MI

Very cheap for a laptop, reasonably good performance, nice and thin and we like the big bright screen

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

Like the design and screen clarity.

Packard Bell iPower GX-M-900 P7450

Battery can wear down very quickly when playing games but is satisfactory when doing normal things like 'word' or browsing the web. Not a problem for me as i have mine plugged in most of the time. I'd recommend this laptop as a desktop replacement but its not ideal for those whose will use it on the move most of the time as it is quite heavy and has a full size keyboard with number pad and 17" screen.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

The Battery only lasts for 1.3hours at most and this is frustrating if working on essays and things that are likely not to be completed in that time.

HP Pavilion G60-116EM (FT293EA)

would like it to be a little lighter, but no worries

Acer Aspire One A110-A 1GB 16GB

The only thing I liked were its looks and design.

Dell Inspiron 1720 T5550

none really. I always had Dell and looks like it its as good as others. Needs additional memory though to wiz things along if using vista

Asus Eee PC 901 12GB Windows XP Home

The keys are small and hard to get used to as some are in different places. The enter key looks like a shift key which is confusing.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

I like its good shape , good performance, good web came & good picture. I recommend its every thing . It's ok & reliable.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

great battery life - about 6 hours, small in size, so that you can pack it in your bag - no need extra bag to carry. highly recommended to student like me - i can do my work in train, bring to university for presentation without aching your shoulder an so on. the price may be expensive compared to acer or asus, but it is fair enough for the quality of the manufacturer - samsung. my housemate has a very bad experience using acer laptop - so do my friends.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2735

compact and easy to use - good style and design. would have liked a users guide to have been supplied but,all in all, I am happy with the product.

HP G60-100em

Keyboard layout with numerical keys like normal keyb online etc.oard. Good screen size. Fast

HP G60-100em

I like the fact that there is a number keypad as this suits my working life. Screen is nice and big, TV works well, sound volume good (almost too good!), fast computer (Feb 2009)

Acer Aspire One A150-A 1GB 160GB

It's very light, so you can bring it anywhere you like. It is complete with Wifi to surf wirelessly at public places which provides internet service. I love the sleek mocha brown color. It's so cute!! I simply love it.

Acer Aspire 5735-583G16Mn

I do not like the operatiting system Vista not a patch on XP PRO with office pro and usual XP software

HP TX2520EA

Wireless connection speeds not a fast as I would have liked.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

Disk drawer sits too close to the bottom of laptop, thus slightly uneven tabletops will prevent it from opening. Should also have been positioned on left hand side of laptop as it's nuisance to use if you like me use an external mouse. This is only minor points though.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Excellent performance when running demanding programs like the Adobe suite. Impressive battery life expecially when connected to another screen monitor.

HP Pavilion G60-116EM (FT293EA)

So much faster than my old machine. Easy to use. WiFi easy to set up. Seems to have a load of bloatware on it but the memory is so huge for what I want this is not likely to prove a problem.

Acer Aspire 6920G-6A3G25Bn

Has plenty of features, like hd screen and bluray. Easy to use, with a good all round performance.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Battery life is great. Plays videos fine. Non glare screen is a godsend on a portable device like this.

HP Pavillion DV51110EM

it collects a lot of dust and fingerprints, and i feel like im always cleaning it.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

touch pad too small and you can't feel the edges of the touchpad in low light. would like to see the netbook bundled with linux. I'd love to have 1280x800 resolution in a 10" format. No builtin 3G

Acer Aspire 2920-6A2G25

Looks beautiful, and feels like a quality product. Useful Empowering Technology give quick access to info such as battery life, sound settings etc. I'm new to Vista so took some getting used to after XP, but it looks and works great, especially the holographic view to switch between open programs. This computer also has Vista Home Premium installed. Overall it really is a great, well made, compact little machine which makes my old 15" laptop look like a dinosaur!. I'd recommend the Acer to anyone.

HP Compaq 6735S SI-40 1GB 160GB Vista Basic

Not available with XP SP2 installed - Vista is a pain to use and takes ages to set up to work as I want. Screen VERY sensitive to eye position vertically - very poor compared to other LCD displays. Like all laptops the onboard "mouse" is clumsy - first thing I did was to buy a USB mouse - wonderful!!

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

more for selfish reasons have found speaker sound is slightly restricted, more than adequate for speech and soft music but would like it to go louder.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

It's a pretty powerful machine and fits in my handbag. Even better it doesn't drain the battery in sleep/hibernate modes like other laptops. I've used it occasionally and haven't had to re-charge the battery yet.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

Really stylish laptop. Not too heavy like others and handy number kypad to left of keyboard which really handy for my field of work. Great product for the price.

eMachines D620

Would have liked the opportunity to purchase the carrier case with the laptop.

Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4"

don't like the vista package

Sony VGN-AW11M/H

Excellent design - rivalling Apple products. The build-quality seems to be high, though I've only had the machine for a month. The attractive matt silver-grey finish is likely to age well and is classier than the super-gloss finishes on most Dells. The display is generally sharp and colour-rich and the extra width is useful for movies and applications that offer side toolbars (including Windows Vista). The keyboard, number pad and trackpad are solid and easy to use. The additional control keys make cd and dvd playing more acccessible. There is also a good range of ports for cards and accessories (but see bad points below). The inclusive software package is also useful. Overall, this is a very good alternative to a desktop but it would be too large for travel use. Good to have a Blu-ray rw drive, but I haven't tested it yet.

Toshiba A300-16C

I like the overall design, the speakers are very good, and it has loads of memory.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

This was a doddle to set up - even for a computer novice like me. It's fast and has been able to do everything I need. I'm really happy with it and it's perfect for basic home use - emailing, skyping and internet.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

I love the number pad as I do a lot of work with numbers. I like the wireless facility as it now means that my work is portable.

Apple MacBook Pro MB470B/A

Not all programmes have a Mac option available. Office style programmes have a child-like presentation and are more difficult to manage because of the size of the screen available. This applies to Office Mac as much as iWorks.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

Needs a better battery Quite heavy but not bad Could do with a number pad on the keyboard like PCs

Acer Aspire One A110-B 1GB 16GB

Useful to have a booklet to explain how to do things - like how to use the flash memory card. Matching accessories like an external DVD player. More battery life and the chance to buy an extra battery.

Acer Aspire One A150-A 1GB 120GB

Did not like the operating system, although it was better than Windows. Replaced OS with Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR). Difficult to have separate user accounts (solved by installing UNR).

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pa 2548

it has a large amount of RAM, a huge HDD, looks very nice, everything works well. Although it only has a 'score' of 3.6, it plays games like WoW and Half-Life with no problems.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

This notebook is pure quality - its so eady to use, has such a quick service from keyboard to loading things, its compatible with everything - it really is a mini laptop, it fits into my handbag like a small notebook would, i love it !!!

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

burgulars also liked it so stole it

eMachines D620

It has lots of things to do on it, like games and internet, but it has lots of useful resources like Microsoft Works and new Microsoft Office additions, even though some we had to add on ourselves. It also is a good size, and design.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Great purchase, very pleased with it from the time I opened the box. Battery life is unbelievable. Day to day use, just like any other laptop running MS Office, email etc. I do a lot of air travel - saves weight and the person in front putting their seat back is no longer a problem!! Niggles PgUp PgDn and Home End keys not thought through. Kept gettiting is wrong and in a large document that is a pain. Sound system is not so good but was not purchased with that in mind.

HP G60-100em

None just cant find any fault. My wife likes it more than me! well she spends more time with it than with me now cant get her off it.

Advent 4489

Just the battery but I hardly use it without the charger on now to 'help' it more, i can get full 2hrs if i just surf the net and nothing else but with media player on at same time you get like 30mins less and so on the more things you run at same time but the cable charger lead is long so can sit pretty much anywhere and be plugged in if you need to be

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

LOOKS GOOD AND PERFORMS JUST AS GOOD, USER FRIENDLY AND KEYBOARD EXCELLENT FOR SOMEBODY LIKE ME WITH CHUBBY FINGERS. SUFING AND WIRELESS CONNECTION EXCELLENT. PLUS BATTERY LIFE BETTER THAN MOST.

Asus Eee PC 904HD 80GB Windows XP Home

Small and convenient (eg fits very well on the table top of an airline!! and in a an average size handbag!! fairly fast set up, can convert most programmes. Good for small jobs and a media centre. Battery life is okay not the 5 half hours more like a good four hours of variable use, can reduce power options (eg turn off camera and wirelses)

Advent 4489

I find the size ideal for my purposes, I can carry it around in my bag and work on it when i like. The price was excellent. I haven't had it long enough to judge battery or general performance levels over time.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Trackpad occasionally doesn't work smoothly. Screen size limits some things like photo editing and split screen previews for email etc (but obviuosly, if you want something small and portable, then that's the compromise you make!). Other than that, it's great.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Perfect for most things like email and web browsing. Keyboard is great.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 8GB Linux

I bought this originally for traveling, but it is so quick to start up I often use it instead of my desktop PC. As it uses a solid state drive, and has no fans, it is also completely silent. The battery life is great, and the charger is really small (like a mobile phone charger). It doesn't get very hot in use, and I have been able to play full screen video without any problems. The Dell additions to the Ubuntu environment are unobtrusive, and actually quite useful (though you can turn them off very easily if you wish) and don't prevent you from using the full power of Ubuntu.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

The only thing i would change is the keyboard, it is over to the left because it has the number block as well (like a standard keyboard for a computer.)

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

Dont know whether I like the backup system. Is it using up memory?

eMachines E520-571G12MI

Good size screen with good colour and definition. Keyboard is very user friendly and responsive. Some nice features like on/off button for wireless connection.

Acer Aspire 5715Z-1A2G12MI

would like a 4gb

Packard Bell EasyNote SL51-B470

even for a techno phobe like me, i find this an easy laptop to use.

Toshiba Satellite L350D-170

Easy to get up and running on the net wirelessly, like the big screen (17``) for watching the odd film.

HP DV3500EA

light and nice layout. quick to connect to web Like the built in web-cam.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2735

Would have liked a card reader built in but not the end of the world.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2735

Having to turn on wireless every time you turn it on, vista bugs like removing the recyle bin icon from desktop, the stupid admin premission setting which are pointless and time wasting.

Sony AW11S B

Battery life good but would like opportunity to purchase longer life battery, tricky to get a reasonable priced laptop case.

Toshiba Satellite L350D-170

Lighter than expected for a 17" model; clear and bright screen; works like a dream!

Acer 7530-724G25Mn

the instruction book was hard to follow for a new user like myself

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Smallish track pad if you dont like a very sensitive pointer, No prob if set to sensitive.

Toshiba Satellite L350D-170

It has a few annoying features, like if your on a screen and accidentally 'hover' too long over something else (maybe because you are reading it) it takes you to that page, but thats down to Vista. Personally I prefer XP

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

Battery life could be better but it is the same with most laptops and is not a difficulty to plug in! Touch pad, though i don't like them and use a mouse but that is just preference.

Acer Aspire 8930G T5800

mouse touchpad, very disappointed with wireless performance (is it really a draft-N? behaves like a conventional G with a N-router)

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

really like the look and style. Good spec also.

Acer Aspire One A110-A 0.5GB 8GB

Linux takes some getting used to and difficult to customise, simple things like mapping a network drive are near impossible!

HP G60-100em

It's easy to use and set up. I like the big screen.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

When I was researching the Netbooks on the market, I found they tended to fall into two groups; 1)Nice keyboard. Shame about the screen. 2) Nice screen, shame about the keyboard. I eventually realised that if I was going to live with the device for any period of time, I had better fork out the little bit extra for the Samsung NC10. For the size of netbook, the keyboard is superb. Unlike many of it's rivals, the NC10's 'RETURN' key is an inversed "L". This makes typing much easier. It was one of the main reasons for buying this unit. The screen is also excellent. The brightness is lovely & punchy. The screen surface is slightly matt to reduce reflection. If you like your battery life long, let the supplied power-save programme controll the screen. It will run at full brightness when on mains power. But when on battery, it will dim the screen slightly and then dim it further after a period of non use. As a result, the already high powered battery gives excellent performance. The lid on the blue model has a lovely gloss finnish. Considdering it has a traditional hard drive, the NC10 is surprisingly quiet. The ram can be upgraded via a small access panel and the power pack is a nice size too. I have used it for about an hour every day and I can safely say I made the right decision.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

I'd sometimes like to connect to internet via ADSL Modem rather than wireless and haven't worked out how to do this yet.

HP G70-120EA

Lovely screen (17"), not the highest resolution (1440 x 900) but enough for the screen size. Dedicated graphics (useful for Vista), runs so smoothly, performance hasn't been an issue so far. Really easy to perform media streaming, TV-out. The BluRay is a great bonus (ROM, not RW). It's a little more deep than some 17" so be aware of this when trying to get a laptop bag for it. Overall it really was the best value for money at the time of purchase and I would highly recommend it for the more technical laptop user, occasional gamer (won't run the top games like Crysis very well - it's not a dedicated gaming laptop), as well as being great for day to day tasks. A little bit for everyone here. HP even provide a polishing cloth to keep the nice glossy black casing ncie and shiney (gets rid of those fingerprints).

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Keyboard is a good size - almost like a fullsize laptop. Weight and size perfect for carrying around

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

I would like to have had more hardware such as word 2007 without having to pay for it, but i suppose at the price i paid for it icannot complain. Over all I think it is good value for money.

Acer Aspire One A110-B 1GB 16GB

Very light, so much better than carrying a laptop around, especially if all you want to do is keep in touch with friends on email or use the internet.. This was a present for my granddaughter and she really likes it. It was good to have a choice of colours and I chose pink which she loves.

Advent 4213 Atom 1GB

Its simply brilliant - small, quiet, powerful and please ignore all the gripes about the keyboard and fan noise, they are not right. The machine is just like any other laptop.

Sony VAIO FW21L

I'd like computer manufacturers to include the full version of Microsift Office as a matter of routine. At the volumes they would use, I'm sure they could do it for very little extra cost to us.

Acer Aspire One A110-A 0.5GB 8GB

As an addition to a main PC this is excellent and great value for money. Excellent speed and boots up quicker than my main PC. Lightweight to carry around. Keys not too small like some other notebooks. Easy to use and visuals excellent.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

Battery life can sometimes seem to ebb away faster than you would like , although it reminds you of time left.I would have liked the mouse pad more central rather than left of centre.Thats all I can find "bad" to say about a great product.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

light and compact. Fast processor. Everything works really well on it. It isnt advertised but it does have a dvd and cd writer just in case you weren't sure like me.

HP Pavilion DV7-1020EA

I really like this lap top. I'm not an expert but it works well, looks cool, its great to watch DVDs on, its fast and its easy to use

eMachines D620

ould have liked an integral webcam.

Dell Inspiron 1525 T5750 3GB 15.4"

I like Dell It is robust enough for home use. It has clear pictures and a large window due to its size. Good I imagine for older users. It will store plenty of photos and play back video content quickly. I feel I trust it to do whatever I need it to do and I feel it will last a long time. My daughter REALLY uses hers (MSNing etc and tons of photos)

Toshiba L350D-11D

i do not like vista

HP G70-120EA

I don't like the cover at all, as soon as you touch it it leaves finger marks!it is heavy to carry

HP G70-120EA

very good quality screen, feels like good quality, not flimsy but solid, fast and reliable so far

Advent 4489

I still can't find a user guide! a user guide for someone like me makes things more bearable. Apparently its unusual to include guides now. I would say an external dvd drive is necessary in conjunction with this. My kids are complaining about the webcam being poor and awkward to put on it seems too easy to accidentally turn off

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 8GB Linux

Good display, easy to use basic functions like web browsing. Easy to connect to Wi-Fi.

Dell XPS M1330 T5450

looks good has some cool features like the finger print technology and the gadgets thing on the desktop that selects pictures from the photo gallery

Acer Aspire 5535-704G32Mn

The numericals being on the left and the top. I like the design of the cover, although cleaning it is a nuisance.options of type of power to use.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

For a laptop with 4gig ram one expects 24/7 speed and not the odd slowdown but there always a reason like configuration stuff. It's not always slow. It does not have a floppy disk drive but then again who needs it these days with memory sticks now in abundance. For bargain hunters and techno geeks, I'll say this would be the IT buy of the year if only it had three main extra features. These are: built-in bluetooth adaptor, touch-screen, and blueray. With bluetooth and blueray-player, you can always get them externally via usb but a non-stain touch-screen would be my ideal added bonus for this purchase.

Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4"

Big screen, stylish I like the bright grey keyboard easy to use. Good value for money one of the cheapest I could find.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

keyboard buttons are taking a little time to get used too, more likely because i am used to soft touch and slightly different layout,

HP G70-120EA

battery doesn't last as long as I'd like

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

I would have liked a carrying case. A great deal of parents buy the laptop for their children attending university and need a carrying case.

Sony Vaio VGN-NR38 S/S

Battery life is good but not brilliant and like most laptops the warning for low battery can easily be missed.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

Great design and colour. Fast download speed and loads of extra features like web cam, number pad etc.

Advent 5511 P73502G

dead pixels in screen and a noisy fan and an even noisier DVD drive - like a helicopter taking off

Packard Bell RS65P-600 T5800

Heavy not as portable as I would have liked. Vista seriously slows it down even though it's quite big in the power department. Can't wait for Windows 7 seems a lot faster.

eMachines D620

none, would have liked some office software but the price was good

Advent 4490

i like the size and the design is nice. Also the weight n size are good.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

Battery life could be a bit better and 'tis a little heavy. Not heavy like a boulder but not light like a feather either.

HP Pavilion DV71103ea

Quite big and heavy- but I like the large screen

EI Systems 1412 T1500

BIOS has been rewritten, leaving some essentials out for those who like to dabble. Battery life short for todays laptops.

Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4"

battery life too short for my liking.

HP G60-118EM

Everything is great quality, well worth the money I spent and would have trouble finding another product like it for the value of money

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

This is my first laptop so i,m not sure what the average life expectancy of the battery life is of a laptop is, my first opinion is that it's a little to short for my liking, but as we usually have it plugged in as that brightens the screen a little i may be jumping the gun.

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

Performance is excellent, and I haven't had any problems with it. Quality of screen and webcam is particularly good. It seems to be more than powerful enough for anything that I am likely to use it for.

Acer Aspire 7730 T5800

integrated graphic card which doesn't work with Open GL - will not work with programs like : Archicad, Sketchup, Vectiorworks most of new games Also Windows Vista - which is worst than XP.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Slighty heavier than some due to larger battery, but more than compensated for by the 10 hours battery like.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Excellent netbook. Looks great and performs like a dream.

eMachines D620

It is black and I prefer more tasteful colours. People like different colours - I can tell from my ebay research.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Excellent Keyboard - big enough to use comfortably; big hard drive and lots of RAM compared to other similar sized models; ultra-portable, but doesn't feel uncomfortably small when using; looks like a proper lap-top just mini sized, rather than like a toy.

Packard Bell RS65P-600 T5800

It's slightly heavier than I would have liked, but that's something I can live with given the performance I received.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

The touchpad buttons are too loud comparing those to my old laptop.I cant help myself but I really dont like Windows Vista ....the XP software is much better.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

Great to look at, pleasure to use. No problems so far, whatsoever. Speedy and reliable. Durable. Great for downloading and running applications. Fantastic for working and browsing the internet. Stable and efficient. Never let me down. Highly reccomended for people who would like a laptop for saving reasonably large amounts of data, browsing the internet and working on the move.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Just like a normal size laptop, but a fraction of the size.Good size keyboard.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

I didn't like the screen, might be a problem with the new Viao. My 18 months old Viao has got double lamp technology with X- black screen and the colours are more lively in it. I don't think its a problem with this particular model, rather most of the recent viao note books has got poor screen resolution.

Toshiba Satellite A200-2BO

It seems quite an efficient machine and starts up etc fairly quickly. I also like the quality of the graphics. For what I paid, I think I got a good deal. I would say a good machine for basic stuff.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Would have liked a disk drive included. I find the touchpad (i.e., mouse) is a bit tempermental and the cursor sometimes jumps around the page. It was a bit irritating that there weren't any programes loaded but then I suppose that's why the price was so good!

Acer Aspire One A150-A 1GB 120GB

Brilliant little laptop, so easy to just slip in your bag and go... is lightweight so nothing heavy like the larger ones. It has it's own program, so not running on windows, which can be a bit annoying, but i actually changed mine to windows, and it works wonders,

Acer Aspire 5535-704G25MN

none as yet, but would like to have an office package included instead of the trial version.

Asus Eee PC 904HD 80GB Windows XP Home

Size, long battery life and works just like a full size lap top.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Does what it says on the box. Light, good battery life, powerful enough to run most applications. Just don't expect it to perform like a quad core with a 22 inch screen. It is what it is and it does what a net book should; very well.

Packard Bell RS65P-600 T5800

Overall this is an extremely good computer. To be completely ideal I would like it to be a little lighter but with the great spec's I don't know if that would be possible. To be honest I couldn't really rate the battery life as I nearly always plug into the mains but in general battery life on laptops could do with being longer! This is a very good laptop for the price that I paid.

HP Compaq Presario CQ70-116em

Lovely large screen and aesthetic design. Energy Star product (lower energy use). Reasonable battery life compared to other laptops I've had. I like having the additional number pad to the right of the keyboard, the webcam and 5in1 card reader. Overall I'm really pleased with my purchase.

Acer Aspire One A150-A 0.5GB 120GB

didn`t notice it was linux os,didn`t like that and couldn`t get printer to work with it.Ended up buying a samsung from you with windows os

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

The Intel Atom is not a strong processor in comparison to normal laptops. To get an idea you could probably run Internet Explorer/Mozilla Firefox with 6 or 7 tabs/windows open and loading up to which point the processor would struggle to let you run any other serious application like an office application or mp3 player. However if you're buying a netbook then this is to be expected I guess. Another major negative is some of the keyboard glitches and the finger pad design. There are a couple of keyboard glitches for instance if you hold Shift or Ctrl and touch the mouse pad it will zoom in/out as there is an in-built mouse scroller (a stupid idea). This can be frustrating when typing an email for instance as the zooming in/out actually requires quite a bit of memory and can take a while to correct. However there may be a way to disable this annoying feature I haven't yet checked. This problem is enhanced by having such a sensitive finger pad. The finger pad is also quite poorly sized, my main concern is that it is too short. The width of the pad is fine but most people who have used a normal laptop will struggle to adjust to the new shape (widescreen shape). Overall I have been satisified with the Samsung NC-10 and have not encountered any major faults or design errors. I would recommend this netbook to someone who is looking for a stylish, highly portable computer and only wants to surf the net or use very basic applications (i.e. Microsoft Office).

Advent 4213 Atom 1GB

Would have liked a carry case of some kind, even a cloth one, as it can get scratched.

Toshiba Equium A300D-13X

Would like longer battery life.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Not a particularly good carry case. Flimsy. Doesnt close. Nowhere to secure it and carry it, have to hold it in your hand. No CD / DVD drive (obviously that would ruin the design, but a little slide in DVD drive would have been a real bonus like on the dell 1300).

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Excellent battery life; I use it to take notes in lectures and I can get through a whole day on battery alone and still have hours of battery life left. It's one of few netbooks that come with Windows XP rather than Linux. It's very stylish, the NC10 I purchased was a pearl-like off white and looks stunning--way more attractive than alternatives. The keyboard size is perfect as it is almost full-size and doesn't take much getting used to in comparison to a full-size notebook.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

1gb ram, first thing I did was upgrade it to 2gb. Poor screen resolution, two buttons on the keyboard were blue not black like the rest, battery is approx 5hrs not the 7.5 as stated, keypad to small so we bought a wireless mouse, but got a bluetooth mouse as is has built in bluetooth meant no dongle sticking out the side. Although there's many bad points it's competition has a lot more bad points so it's the best available albeit 30% more than the rest.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

still like all other small comuputers... its slower

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Well thought out intuitive design apart from maybe the mouse pad, but it's an extremely minor gripe and may not bother many people. Fast processor and 1gig ram makes most jobs and multi tasking a pleasure. It's one inch bigger than the rest of the pack and that one inch makes all the difference. Weight is pretty good and easy to lug around which was the intention. Design is really good and it looks fantastic in white, if yo like that kind of thing. Great points: Comes loaded with Win XP and has a built in 160gig HD and very good connectivity.

HP G70-120EA

hoped the sound quality would be bit better. had to get used to vista (but like it now!)

Compaq CQ60111EM

Great keyboard - layout is just like a full size PC keyboard. Screen nice and bright too. Memory is upgradable which is good.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

battery doesn't last very long after it's been charged. I dont particularly like the blue colour that's on the top of the laptop. should have been all black, or maybe in a range of colour choices.

Acer Aspire One A150-A 0.5GB 120GB

The keyboard is a little bit small and takes some getting used to if you've got fat fingers (like me!). Mousepad is also a bit fiddly, but these points should be expected when the device itself is so compact.

Toshiba L350D-11D

i would of liked the choice to have xp or vista i know vista is the more updated thing but i prefer xp

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

like the glossy look of the laptop and front color

Advent 6441 T32004G

Volume isn't very loud. Everything has to be on full, and even then it isn't that loud. Nothing to do with computer, but I don't like vista!

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

The case isn't shiny and glossy like most other laptops - so doesn't leave fingerprints and smudges all over it!! Easy to set up. Easy to use.

Dell Inspiron 1545 T5800

Design is good for the money and looks like a more expensive machine. Good all-rounder for the average laptop user.

EI Systems 1201 T23701G

Poor battery life, But at the end of the day most laptops are like this so personally I'm not too fussed.

EI Systems 1201 T23701G

Very useful for someone like me, Brilliant performance and excellent value

Acer Aspire 7730 T5800

I like the fact that it has a lagre screen and is very clear,The performance is also very good

Acer Aspire 5520 TL603G

This laptop is very fast, i bought two for my children for Xmas. They are very happy with them, they have not been on the Internet yet so i can not comment on the wireless part or its performance on the net. They have burned Cd's, watched DVDs and said that it is really fast. My son is 13 and has played games on it like Fifa, age of empires and other games which require loads of movement and has had no problems.

HP G60-118EM

slightly larger than i would have liked but liked the memory price deal and the reputyation of hp for over all size not too heavy though

Acer Aspire 2930-582G25Mn

It has all the features I wanted at a reasonable price including the portability I specifically wanted without being too small like some of the other netbooks.

Packard Bell MX37S200 T1400

Build quality. Assembled with a standard chassis common to the whole range with a very sturdy plastic casing. Suffiiently stylish for domestic situations, discrete enough for the office. Keyboard is exceptional including rare numeric key pad (like your desktop). First class screen performance for this pricepoint. Vista basic as standard, plus MS WORKS et-al so all the usual applications available fresh out the box. Fast enough and powerful enough considering the specification and target market. Comprehensive performance, proven reliability over twelve months and GOOD value. Professionally executed alternative to DELL.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

i like this laptop alot it is perfect for what i need it for good value for a top name brand

Advent 6441 T32004G

Like most laptops the dvd rewriter could be improved.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

Brilliant, like my previous VAIO.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

would like a easy to use volume control other than that no bad points

HP G60-100em

Very stylish laptop with a very clear big screen. Whole thing feels sturdy and I like the keyboard.

Toshiba Equium A300D-13X

The high gloss black finish is a bit of a problem for me, shows up finger marks to easy , and I like to keep it looking as it should , ( Great )

HP Compaq Presario CQ70-116em

Very easy to use, even for oldie like me, great

Advent 4212 Atom 1GB

The battery doesn't last as long as I would like however it is not a big problem.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

easy to use, even for a novice like me.

HP 550 - Celeron M 550

Hard to give good or bad points as this laptop was purchased for my son and i have not used it other than the initial set up and updates etc. But being the teenager that he is and considering he has made no complaints to me it would seem that it fits his needs nicely. He uses it for surfing the web, listening to music, watching films and generally chatting to his friends (normally 3 of these at once) . If i had to buy another i would more than likely buy the same model again at the moment.

Acer Aspire AS6930G 583G25MN

Vista - absolutely rubbish, cpu performance out of the box was 56% at idle! Ditch it and install XP - much better performance and can easily add the visual bells and whistles to make it look like Vista if you wish. Most of the functionality of Vista is retained and I now have a very powerful and fast machine. Dont understand why there is not an XP option at purchase similar to what other Acer models offer.

HP Compaq Presario CQ70-116em

dont like the corners of the laptop shell thats the only thing i dont like about it not sure why

HP Compaq Presario CQ70-116em

i love this laptop, wasnt sure about buying hp again as the last one was rubbish, liked it so much my mate went and bought the following model within the same month

HP Compaq Presario CQ70-116em

I think that the webcam is not as good as expected, and the sound for dvd is not that high, and the battery is just working like 1,5 hour..

Asus Eee PC 904HD 80GB Windows XP Home

Extremely hot on bottom of Netbook, like a laptop.

Dell Studio 1737

like larger screen blue colour bit different quick and easy to use

Dell Studio 1737

Great size screen, good design. I like the built in webcam.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Excellent netbook. As an independent IT Consultant, I have to support lots of different systems and I have loaded my NC10 with a triple boot choice of operating systems: Original Windows XP Evaluaton copy of Windows 7 Linux Ubuntu Works like a dream in all OSs

Toshiba L300-13S

Didnt like VISTA would have liked XP

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Great all round, surprising punch and performance. It's only going to be top end gaming etc that you can't do on this. Bought as student tool for daughter....I want one now, my Lenovo thinkpad feels like some sort of malformed hulk!!!

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Being female I bought this product purely on the colour and really liked the white however on receiving it am really pleased with all of it the size of the keys and the ease of use

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

Don't like the one off hard disk partitioning.

Sony VAIO FW21L

I would definatly recomend getting a mouse to use with this machine as I don't like the touch mouse at the front of the keyboard is really easy to touch by mistake and results in the cursor moving around a lot when you are not expecting it to.

Sony VAIO FW21L

Like the design and keyboard, (apart from on board mouse - see below), the keys are nicely spaced and the monitor is very clear.

Acer Aspire 7730 T5800

like any laptop battery life is nt as good as we need

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

No bundled software at all, which considering the price is unforgivable. Having had a white keyboard before, I also wouldn't recommend one, unless you like having that attractive ground-in dirt line to the edges of all your nice white keys which you have t get out cotton wool buds and alcohol to clean (yes I do wash my hands - you still get it!). Also if, like me, you take and use your laptop everywhere, you'll soon find that you blind yourself on a sunny day if you look at the white keyboard a lot when you type! I chose the blue, which I haven't regretted yet, though as I said, the bezels once you open it up ar a little cheap and tacky, but then that's a common feature of the new batch of netbooks for some reason. All in all, there's nowhere near enough bad points on this little beauty to let 'em dissuade you from buying it.

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

An impressive amount of memory, and both keyboard and screen are great quality. I wouldn't believe the battery time though; presumably you can get that time if you don't so much as breathe on the laptop, but the moment you want to actually want to use it, it eats power. If you're also hoping to run a usb DVD drive off it, you might get the length of a movie out of it. Still the best on the market though - it just bothers me that they feel the need to exaggerate. To date, it seems the best netbook out there by far, though like all its peers, it seems to suffer from rather cheap plastic interior bezels once you've opened that wonderful shiny lid. Aside from that, build quality seem great to date; to give a comparison, I've previously had the ultra-compact Vaio and a neat little Compaq tablet. This one stands head and shoulders above its present competitors.

Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4"

Easy to set up and use, especially for a techno phobic like me!

Advent 4489

the only bad thing is the battery life ive got it 2 last 2hrs 30mins but i would have liked to get atleast 3hrs minimum usage but for the price its a negligable problem :)

Acer Aspire One A150-A 1GB 120GB

The operating system. It is good if you want to use as it is, but simple things like getting photos onto the thing is a real pain. If I got another one I would pay extra for windows.

Advent 5303

Looks good and is a was great value for money. A very good computer just for things like searching the internet and schoolwork.

Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4"

no number pad only thing missing that i would of liked but don't know if you can get one on a 15" screen laptop.

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

A bit on the heavy side. Would have liked the option between Vista and XP

Sony Vaio VGN NS10L/S

Would have liked Microsoft office 2007 already on laptop instead of try before you buy!!!!

Advent 5301 T23702G

We like it-its quite light and looks good too! no problems as yet!

Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4"

No Windows source disks - remember to use the Acer restore utility - you have to supply 2 blank DVDs to do this . No Windows Backup . No idea as yet how the Acer restore utility works Its Vista, of course. Pity they don't supply XP with it instead Office 2007. Different interface . Dont like it ( but see above for alternative)

HP Compaq CQ60114EM

Lots of inclusive items like webcam and photo card slots

Toshiba Satellite L300D-11V

Battery life nothing like quoted time. In use 1 hour not the 3 quoted.

Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4"

Battery Life can be quite short depending on what features you are using. Instruction manual is not great (especially not for someone who likes read it from cover to cover before trying anything!)

Samsung NC10 (6 cell battery)

I think it needs something to use to pull the screen up and down. I feel like I am going to damage it each time I open it. A small catch or something would be great.

Acer Aspire One A110-A 0.5GB 8GB

linux is likely to be unfamiliar to people (I've used linux before). Interface is not easy to upgrade - but its intended for basic tasks like web and document viewing only really

Dell Inspiron 1525 T5800 160GB

Good design a bit like the Mac Book. Easy to set up and use for pc novices.

HP DV6920EA

I think this laptop is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone (and have) if you're a student or just want a laptop to go on the net. However, I don't think it's suitable for gaming but 'lighter' activities. I have experienced no problems: it's an easy weight, the screen is a good size to watch programmes on (with better sound than I expected) and I think the layout is user friendly and accesible (for example, I dismissed a similar Sony laptop as I didn't like the 'flat' keyboard). Anyway, I thoroughly recommend this laptop and if I've forgotten to include anything obvious in this review, it's because it runs so smoothly that I don't have any criticisms that spring to mind!
