I find the shape makes it easier to grip and some of the operations like zooming, macro etc are a lot quicker to get to when you need to take a quick picture

The camera is one of the best I have bought, the picture quility is very good and the zoom is perfect,it also has most features for all types of conditions you are likely to come across, yes there are better cameras about but for the price this one is fine for me.

Camera is fantastic... amazing quality and detail of pics. I haven't taken many shots on auto mode, so can't say what they look like, as I did photography as part of my degree and just wanted a cheap camera to take travelling with me... wasn't even after one that took amazing pictures. I can't fault this camera, its light, cheap, fantastic quality pictures and great functions to play around with to get the best shot!

some of the features are a bit tricky to learn, having said that they are worth the small effort of working them out, things like the landscape feature give me some really dazzling shots from halfway up a cliff

Large viewing screen and different picture shooting modes. I especially like the mode available for action shots which is ideal for children on the go!

It is a heavy beast and I fully recommend you ditch the supplied strap in favour of something like the OpTech Superpro. You'll be thankful you did after a full day lugging this camera about. Steep learning curve if moving from Canon xxD series cameras.

It's a bit of a fiddle to change ISO settings, aperture override etc. but gets easier with time. It tends to use the flash too often for my liking, but you can easily turn the flash off. I find I can hold it steady enough to take quite long exposures without blurring.

Auto mode is very good and covers most things. Still getting to grips with the other modes. I got a 2GB memory card with it and just take lots of shots at different settings if I want to make sure I get something. Under normal conditions the one taken on AUTO is the best anyway! Swivelling view screen is brilliant, I've used it a lot to take pics from unusual angles like very low down on the ground, leaning over a wall, and so on.

Don't expect 10mega pixels photos to be like a digital SLR, you are still limited to what the good zoom lens can manage.

This camera is like all its earlier relations, built well, comes with a large number of user controls and gives splendid results. The body of the camera fits neatly into a pocket or, can be carried on a hand strap, which means it need never be far away and always ready for use. The 10Mpx chip gives outstanding results over and above A3 size prints. Exposure controls are substantial making the camera useful for a novice or a serious amateur photographer. This is the 3rd "A" series Canon I've owned.

The wide angle lens is excellent and the zoom has been better than I expected - really quite good results at x10. The macro lens is adequate - need to try this out more in the summer on butterflies and dragonflies to get a better impression of the quality of the macro. I like the size and shape of the camera and it's easy to use.

A little heavier than I would have liked but that is most likely due to the robust build quality. It is too easy to catch the selection ring which is positioned around the main button arrangement.

The camera is very robust and took lovely pics, with extensive menu. I used it for 7 days and recommend the rechargeable batteries. I used it for 7 days in Egypt but I would now like to use it again as having read the manual I could have done a lot more with it.

Would have liked one lower ISO setting. Really needs an external flash for indoor pictures

It is easy to handle, even for my wife and she likes the clear photos she can make close up.

thing's like the mp3 player and using it for filming are not easy; also the battery does not last for long.

Put the DX60 on auto and you get great results every time. Develop your photographic skills and this unit will do everything you need it to. Battery life excellent but didnt like being left in the boot of my car in sub zero temperatures!

A compact camera that looks and feels like a "proper" camera. Not too big either. Feels nice and solid. Some nice additional features over and above a basic full-auto compact, eg. aperture and shutter priority modes. Electronic view finder very useful when high light levels behind camera make screen difficult to see. Seems OK so far, but I am still getting used to it.

Manual focusing took time to get used to, and understand the right combination of buttons to press. It does tend to feel a bit plastic, but I think that is likely with any camera in this price range.

Is a great camera for the absolute beginner with its Auto modes but also great for the more advanced (like me!) who also want to be able to make their own exposure decisions, whilst only having to carry around a small lightweight camera.

to click and take a picture is very difficult and takes a few seconds until you can take a picture. Everyone i ask to take a picture can never manage. I would really like to change this camera or wonder if there is a quicker setting for this?

Live view system was not as easy to use as I would have liked.

Small, Compact and convenient Camera. It may look like a toy camera due to its small size however it is anything but a toy.

Easy to use for the "point and shoot" amature like me. Fully charged battery and 512 memory chip lasted my 2 week cruise with spare capacity.

Excellent range of features for a compact camera. Can run it manually or as automatic as you'd like. Basically a mini SLR without the bulk!

I have not had it long enough to fully check all the features but the good points are being discovered every time I use it I like the choice of using viewfinder or LCD screen very good in strong sun. Options with memory card are useful too

Can challenge the memory when wanting to use infrequently used functions. Does not have anything like the battery life of my D70.

I like to pick up and go , and thats just what i did with this camera ... its just soooo easy to use ... the pictures are great and I transfered to my pc with no problem !! this IS the first digital camera i've had, so i cant compere to others ... but as a newbie to digital tech ..... i can't fault this camera .... money well spent !

No viewfinder and like all digital cameras the viewing screen is difficult to see in bright sunlight

The auto setting has many good features which allow you to just zoom in and let the auto focus take away much of the work. As a novice user, I have found myself using the guides that came with the software and hints and tips which is just a link on the internet you have to sign up for. Still very good advice on that. I do like the battery drain feature which helps to maintain battery life for rechargeable batteries to complete their cycle rather than recharge when they simply get low. The weight of the camera is easy to live with and fits in my pocket, but I would feel comfortable putting it in some designed storage to protect it

Build quality inferior to last fuji camera the f410 purchased about 5 years ago. This feels so much cheaper and more like a toy than a camera.

Light weight, ideal for holidays and handbag size if you are like me i keep minein my handbag its always at hand to capture those special moments with the grandchildren

It would work much better if there was an option to zoom in or out in Movie mode, but nonetheless still works very well and picks up the sound well. It takes a little longer to fire up than i would like, and the batteries do not last as long as the makers claim they should (but not too bad)

For an amateur photographer like me it is easy to use poducing very good results without resorting to too many of the extra features - just point and take with excellent quality photos.

It didn't come with a free camera case (like it advertised) and it is quite hard to find one that is the right size!

Unattractive- why can't they do like Leica and model their DSLRs on old models? The OM-1 I have (and use the lenses from on this) would look far better as a case for this than the black molded plastic... The kit lens isn't great, and the autofocus is slow to lock on in low light

I love this camera, my old IXUS was great, and this one is fab, i'd recommend it to anyone, after trailing through endless reviews i'm really glad i bought it. The pictures are sharp, and really vivid, the auto function for taking pics is spot on, and I really like the face recognition.

Fantastic features and handling for the price. 9x bracketing, a variety of metering modes, large viewfinder, and optional battery grip make it feel more like a pro camera. ISO shown inside viewfinder. Fast and large buffer.

I like the compactness of it. It has one of the most powerful flashguns built-in that I have ever experienced in a digital compact.The 12x zoom is just brilliant. It handles like a beauty and I love the 3 inch screen. The video clip function works well. Again picture quality is excellent. One point to remember, if at times you find the picture is not clear or detailed, then 90% of the time it is 'user' error.

In bad light it is difficult to see a clear image on the screen before taking the shot. Like most digital cameras nowadays there is no viewfinder lens to use as an alternative.

The red coating seems to scratch easily. When reviewing the picture after taking it always looks out of focus because it takes a couple of seconds it to display properly on the screen. Would like more control over shutter speed.

Image quality is ok but there is a compromise to be made when buying a camera like this vs even a low end DSLR. Indoor shots with flash have been a little disappointing.

The picture quality is very good and it takes photos very fast. It is easy to use and very good value for money. I also like the vdeo quality with sound. Good zoom and auto focus. Set it on the auto setting and the camera basically does the rest. I would reccommend a 2gig memory card for this camera

this camera is slim, sleak and stylish. Bought this for my mom at xmas who isnt very tech savvy so features needed to be easy to use. With this camera they are. The menu is very intuitive and the buttons on the back of the camera speak for themselves. The Screen on the back is perfect and clear. Also has a lithium ion battery so no more pesky aa or aaa's. Battery is taken out of cam to be charged in the battery doc which i like as its safer.

Ideal for beginners like me for point and shoot. With great results would definitely recommend to my friends.

only goes to f3.5. would prefer it to reach f2/2.5. lacks some features found on other digicams at this price point - such as face recognition. which i don't mind, but you might. does like the cold. after a winters night of lunar photography the zoom started wheezing like a lawnmower.

Nothing bad to report. As I say i'm your average person buying a camera to get some cool photos of my family and the like and this camera does all of that and has more functions than I will probably ever use.

Its a great little compact camera. Stylish and plenty of fancy features for your average person who snaps away. I cant comment on too many technical details as the world of technology baffles me somewhat but I do have a sound head on my shoulders and I looke to hunt a bargain and this camera fits the gap! I particularly like the way the camera detects someone smiling so no more photos of people with their eyes shut trying to catch that smile. Lots of good effects on the camera and can take multiple photos (not sure of techinical term) so you are able to catch the shots you usually miss. I take photos of my ducks stretching their wings mid flight and it catches them perfect!

firstly the price I paid for the camera, secondly , I like the options the camera gives me for taking photos and also the ease with the overall operation in using the camera.

Easy to understand and use, more than ample features for an amateur photographer. It looks nice too, doesn't feel cheap like some.

SIMPLE...for an amateur who hasn't been "involved" in photography for about 20 years, to find a camera that in moments allows you to get back to where you started from and give you images that instantly inspire you to look at its more sophisticated assets and start achieving them via a well written guide booklet and controls that do exactly what they are supposed to do, makes this a camera that even the most technically disenabled old fart like me can grow to love. Add to that, the excellent software that allows you to "grow" your photos into compelling pix on the computer screen and it makes every penny spent worthwhile.Recommend it!!!!...of course...anywhere you like...even on the rooftop for a small fee.

I upgraded from an earlier Powershot which I'd had for years. My new A640 does everything I want it to do and more. The best feature for me is it acts like an SLR with the manual focus so you can blur out the background and still have a sharp image in the forground. It's easy to use.

Not bad point really for a novice like me, it takes some time to get the best of the camera. It's part of getting a sophisticated camera such as 450D after using digital snapshot items.

Software which came with it will superimpose a grid for alignment purposes but: 1. I haven't found how to algn with the grid yet - no doubt I will if I persevere! 2. I (and many artists would like to be able to print the image with the grid but I don't think this is possible. Give Canon a nudge please.

for a simple camera user like myself it is easy to use with the uuto set. For the more informed there's plenty of scope. Lets hope it lasts.

The flash almost seems too bright - it "bled out" a few of the photos we took in the first few days The batteries don't last long at all - recommend you buy some rechargeable ones!! Shame it didn't come with a case - I bought a generic one which is OK but doesn't fit aas well as I would have liked.

Image cancellation was easy on my old MX1200 I like to de clutter as I go along!! Xd card less common & therefore more restricted for uses. My DVD recorder has a slot for SD cards!

Would have been nice to have a case included. The instruction manual is on a cd - would have liked a paper version. I had to print it out - thats alot of paper (and ink).

Sony quality and build. Lots of useful features like smile detection and image stabilization. Looks good too! Bought the camera for taking to sporting events - it has very fast shutter speeds.

the 10 mega pixel camera gives you clear quality pictures and the chance to capture moments like never before! you have a picture editor as well that allows you to edit pictures the way you want to while giving you the choice to keep the orignal picture taken or to delete it.

Put all image stabilisation on and images can get quite noisy in low light (1600 is selected) and flash can be harsh in low light as well. Images a little soft at times. Would like to have ISO auto and user selectable ISO settings on F button to control noise.

I bought this for my teenage daughter and she found it very easy to use. I like the fact it also has a voice recorder unlike my more expensive make of camera. It is just the right size for her to hold and not too heavy.

I have some concerns on the build quality (the buttons look like they are not particularly hard wearing).

The camera was very cheap and a brand we like. It is light and easy to use. It takes quite good photos. The distant shots are better than our last camera.

The camera strap doesn't have the part to tighten it around your wrist which makes it more likely to fall off.

I am used to an SLR style camera so I like the look and feel of the S800fd. There are a number of very useful features, including the twin image stabilizing systems and multiple-shot facility. I find the image quality perfectly acceptable for the kind of photographs I take - obviously a professional photographer would need something more, but for the amateur it is more than adequate.

A fantastic camera all round especially if you have young children (like we do 3 of them) and they happen to get hold of it and accidently drop it - a bit like the kids version of the Vtech only smaller!!! it also has a fantastic built in video player which has enabled us to get rid of our video camera and you can switch very easy from taking photos to taking video. We bought this camera ourselves 2 months ago and paid a little more than what they are selling for today and then bought another as a christmas present for a family member as we were very happy with it.

i liked the way it felt when holding the camera all the bottons you need are close to hand the lens seems very good and it take pictures very quickly in any condition.Also you don't need to read a massive manual to get the thing working.The fact that it takes two memory cards is a bonus.

Relatively simple to use. Handy pocket size. Big viewing screen. Battery seems to last ages before charging. I liked the USB and charging cables being the same and not having two seperate ones.

Great 3 inch LCD screen. Sharp images - image stabilisation works really well. Good lens with very little colour fringing, and a useful zoom range, with wide-angle for landscapes. Correct exposures even in difficult lighting conditions. Well constructed, feels like a quality product. I'm absolutely delighted with it.

Good picture quality, the manual is informative however the camera is pretty straight forward to use - even for a novice like me. Easily put together.

handles like an SLR which is what I was after, having always used 35mm SLR's. With the upgraded card it can take hundreds of pictures which is great for holidays (no rolls of film everywhere!!) Particularly liked the fixed lens (no dirt inside or sand while changing lenses on holiday!)Coupled with a good printer the photos are first rate. More than happy with the camera and the price paid.

Great image quality, excellent performance in a wide range of lighting conditions with noise only becoming an issue at ISO800 and above. Image stabiliser helps you achieve better handheld results in low light situations. Film simulation,dynamic range options work very well and the face detection gives very satisfying results too. The zoom range of 28-400mm is more than enough for most photographers and finally the build of the camera makes it feel like you are holding a more expensive DSLR.

We bought it for our 16 year old grandson for Christmas and he was showing us some fab pictures within seconds of opening it. Very easy to understand. We thought, good value for money. Haven't seen him smile like this for a while, not something a teenager does often.

I bought it for my daughter she paticularly liked the life of the battery power other camera's I have had never seem to give me enough life before needing recharging. She went diving in Egypt with it and the quality of the underwater photo's was excellant

small. compact, good picture quality, very good value for money. Especially like the rechargable battery that lasts a long time.

Position of zoom control means that you need to use your right eye for the viewfinder - which is a pain if you're left-eye dominant like me! Lens cap only fits when the camera is switched off. Not convinced about the durability of the silvered finish - we'll have to wait and see.

I love this camera, the pictures are very clear and make you look like a good photographer! Get a tripod because you can get a bit of camera shake on full zoom but with tripod just excellent also allows you to be in your own pictures with the timer facility . Its really quite easy to use even thought there are lots of preprogramed settings. read the manual and you will be pleased . Its a nice size and great that you dont have to carry lots of lenses. We have two slr cameras but wanted something a bit more simpler and user friendly and this is in my opinion.

Love the camera. It was ready to take photos as soon as it was charged which only took 90 minutes. Early results were very encouraging, beautiful clear LCD screen to review photos on and VR lens is amazing. I was able to take photos of my pet mice in the evening that came out very sharp. This would simply not have been possible with a regular lens because of the speed they move at and the fact that flash would hurt their eyes. I cannot recommend this camera highly enough, especially for someone upgrading from a compact like me.

There is no viewfinder, so if you are taking pictures inside and the light is dim, you can't see the LCD screen, which means you have to guess where your subject is. There is no lens cover, which means the lens could get scratched. But like I said it was for my 5 year old and he doesn't really care about such things!

Well, it looks like a SLR and is large with lots of controls in various points around the body.

Ease of use. I like the large monitor and everything about this camera including an exceptional price.

Would like to see it come with a screen protector rather than having to buy one seperate.

Although other people commented that they were disappointed that it took batteries, I liked this because they are standard 1.5V batteries that can be found anywhere so I will never be out of battery ! !

In camera anti shake REALLY WORKS. It is great and means I can get shots that I would otherwise miss. + this is with fantastic 'old' minolta glass such as the 50mm f1.7 prime. I like the lack of too many push buttons and much prefer the slightly 'old school' 2 dials. LCD is very clear and easy to understand. Feels quite solid. Battery life fantastic. No dust after many lens changes - for me the anti dust works or I have been lucky. Wireless flash very good. Kit lens is pretty good compared to others.

Being somewhat bulky Its not a camera for those that like to stow their camera in their pocket.

A bit heavy but no more than I expected with a quality product like this.

The bad far outweighs the good with this camera, the auto focus takes far too long and often still took blurry shots, because it has almost 0 image stabilization, so any movement or breathing on the part of the photographer causes the images to be blurred and out of focus. This camera boasts of 10MP which should improve picture quality however, it has so much noise on photos even as low as ISO100 that its impossible to even see the advantage of having 10MP. I would not recommend this model of Fujifilm camera to anyone I liked, but would also like to mention that there are other Fujifilm cameras that perform much better, so it's not the brand its this particular model. Unfortunately there are other brands in this price range that are far superior.

Although the camera has many of the features a experienced photographer would like, a person new to photography would also find it easy to use.

When you press the shutter it takes the picture, there is no delay like so many digital cameras.

Some of the operational buttons are where you hold the camera, and I guess I just don't like not having a proper viewfinder to look through.

Great compromise between SLR & compact. Still use my Contax 35mm for "serious" photography. This Fuji sits well in the hand, not too small and fiddly like most digital compacts when you are used to a bigger camera. Picture quality more than adequate for my needs plus it runs on AA cells which is great if you are away from a charger.

The CD that comes with it has many functions which you can use to adjust the contrast, colour etc of the photos once you've downloaded the pics onto your pc/laptop. Which is very helpful when pics are too dark. Sort of like a photoshop element.

Handles like a 'real' camera. Bought it for the manual zoom facility, which gives more control than auto. Just a good camera. Very pleased with myself for buying it.

ISO sensitivity is amazing, live view is "ok", movie mode is very good. Nice sized LCD display. Like the 'most used' options to find recent changes very quickly. With the 18-105VR kit lens, this will keep the 'average' user happy for quite some time! (obviously 18-200mm VR would be better! :)

A pretty easy camera to use - even for the more senior user like me - the compact size makes it easy to slip into your pocket so it can go where you go and with the 2 gig card you dont have to download between photo sessions so it can cover the whole of your holiday no problems - even if you are click happy like me!

Easy to use even by a novis like myself, this being my first SLR camera. Love the continued shooting mode (action photos). Like the large display and the excellent picture quality.

Image quality and zoom range is excellent, There are many different settings and features to experiment with. This camera also feels like a camera should and comes with a handy tilt screen. For the price this camera is you can not fault what you get, a very good quality camera for a great price!

No inbuilt battery recharge facility like my previous Finepix camera, and some operations more complicated than before.

WOULD LIKE LARGER KEYS.

The camera is really easy to use and i like the feature where you can tag your favourite photos so it makes it easier to find them quickly for emailing or printing off. The value for money is really good too.

Range of Picture Quality is vast, from 130kb images to 5Mb+. Also liking the control wheel for rapid change of shooting mode.

I like the help function built into the camera that tells you exactly how to set up the type of picture you want to take.

Would like to be able to pre-view picture on LCD display. Some control buttons a little fiddley. Can't always see the LED readout in the view finder.

Lot of features and quality for the price and easy to use, even for a DSLR novice like myself... Great first DSLR.

The lens like all the others at of this type gives a wide equivalent of 35mm which in confined spaces is quite often not wide enough.

Small pocket sized design is good if you like to take i everywhere and it is good value for money

A good compact size camera. It meet all the requirements that I wanted from a camera except one. It was one from a choice of three. I like the colour. I chose it for its ease of use and value fro money as well as its high specifications regarding Isos, zoom and Megapixels.

Though I have not used this camera myself, it has been bought in advance as a Christmas present; I thoroughly researched the model first. It is a case of swings & roundabouts, where some features may have been sacrificed in order to enhance its overall ruggedness. As the camera is likely to see use in some of the World's less favourable climes, a tough camera was needed, & this one fitted the bill.

Pathetic memory. Considering how cheap SD cards and the like are, its a little tight not to have included one.

Easy to get started. Screen good size and makes using video feature easy. Rechargeable battery lasts well. Optical zoom great, most 8 mill pixel cameras seem only to have 3x not 5x like this one. Picture quality good.

it is a really small and funky camera, ideal for youngsters who are orignial and like to be different.

Get more blurred photos than with my last Kodak camera. Warning - new version of Kodak easyshare is huge and takes over all computer. Better to use somthing like firegraphic and upload the photos with a card reader.

I upgraded from the W50 and this one is even better. Great for macro closeups like flowers. Easy to use.

Very simple to use for the techno phobics like myself!

We bought for a five year old and it's great for them to have their own camera just like mum's but not too expensive if it gets broken etc
