You may miss the bus or get splashed by white van men speeding through puddles on your way to work but one of the worst things to happen in the morning has to be over-doing your toast.
No matter how often you set that dial, someone’s always moved it by the time you use the toaster again and the result? Imperfect toast and wasted bread.
Well, worry no more. This see-thru toaster will ensure your bread is just how you like it, everytime.

Keep an eye on your bread so that you can pop it up when it looks exactly the way you like it. It currently needs a bit of tweaking but we’ll let you know when it’s available for toasting heaven!

Off to a festival in the next few months? Take a look at our festival survival gadgets to make sure you avoid all the usual festival pitfalls.
Don’t lose your tent or your friends this year, use Google Maps with Latitude to keep track of both. Go for
the popular Nokia N97 or the new Apple iPhone 3G S and, while you’re at it, download the Shazam app which will recognise a tune within a few notes and then helpfully take you to iTunes to purchase the track.
Grab yourself a wind-up charger too, to make sure your mobile never runs out.
If you’re after a festival-proof camera, the Olympus MJU 1050 is tough, waterproof and shockproof so it should last the summer. It’s 12x digital zoom and 30fps video capture mode will keep your festival memories for ever. Owners love this camera and it receives a score of 8.6/10 with one reviewer labelling it “virtually indestructible”.
Going to the loo is a mission at festivals but there’s no need to miss out on all the action while you’re in the queue. This Roberts Solar DAB radio is, as the name suggests, solar powered, so running out of batteries is not an option. It’s rated 8.9/10 by very impressed owners.
After the artists have finished, the music doesn’t have to stop with the Sony NWZ-A816 Walkman which scooped gold in the Reevoo Customer Choice Awards earlier this year and scores 9.3/10. But if you want to share your music, go for the iMode Boombox dock which is rugged and a steal at only £25.
If you have to queue for the loo, at least avoid queuing for the shower. Take the Super Solar Shower in a bag and have a leisurely soak under a branch at your convenience. It can be refilled time and time again and the solar panel will heat the water. An absolute bargain at just £5!

Finally, a festival kit bag wouldn’t be complete without a wind-up head torch. £15 will get you the Uni-Com wind up head torch – hours of fun without running out of batteries.

All that and you’re helping out the environment too.
Watch this space for a price and release date but no doubt it will be available in time for all this summer’s festivals, just head towards the Orange stand.

Meet the Chairman. We’re talking VIP but Very Important Phone as opposed to Person, because the Chairman is a new phone with a difference.
The clue is in its maker - Ulysse Nardin, watch maker extraordinaire. This phone takes top-of-the-range watch technology and teams it up with a touchscreen giving us a stylish hybrid handset. Its built-in battery is charged by the kinetic energy generated by the moving rotor so that your phone charges without you even noticing, while it’s working.
But if you thought this was a gimmick phone, think again. Ulysse Nardin have created an interesting multi-touch smartphone. Complete with Wi-Fi, 5 megapixel camera and 2.8 inch screen, the Chairman
certainly sounds like a phone to look out for. Release dates and price are currently under wraps but we’ll keep you posted.

If there’s one thing in your house that you thought they’d never computerize, would it be a tap? Well, the guys at iHome have decided that a touchscreen tap with face recognition is the future in household gadgetry. I have to admit, this is pretty cool. The SmartFaucet recognises your face and then remembers exactly what water temperature and pressure you like. And if you get bored while you soak? Just use SmartFaucet to catch up on a few emails or find out how your calendar’s shaping up for the weekend.

If you have a tiny kitchen and thought that you never be able to fit in the luxury of a dishwasher, think again. The Gota dishwasher is so tiny it can fit on your worktop. And it’s a nice little energy and water-saver too.
It’s been designed by Ibsen Caldas and is made from ABS polycarbonate. The pre-wash steams up all the dishes and then saves the water from the steam process to wash the dishes later on in the cycle. Its internal tank stores enough water for a round of cleaning.
It’s a great gadget for singles or couples without children. They’ll even be really handy for holiday homes. It has enough room for six plates and six glasses so whatever you use it for, it’ll certainly beat washing up! No news about when we might be able to get our hands on one yet but we’ll let you know.

We’ve come across a few strange ones in our time but this little gadget is as strange as it is genius. For years we’ve been telling the time in the same, boring way but now, John Maushammer has a new take on the humble wrist watch.
The Pong watch tells the time by totting up the outcome of an ongoing game of ping pong. The hours and minutes change depending on which side wins the current game.
The watch took Maushammer two years to complete. You can see his progress in the video below:

This week’s Gadget Watch is all about trees. Metal trees, that is. This fab looking sculpture will not only be an interesting addition to any room but it will also be your one stop shop (or tree), for charging MP3s, mobile phones, cameras and other small, battery operated devices.
How? Well, each of the leaves is actually a solar panel. These 54 solar panels or photovoltaic panels, to be exact, will store energy that can then be used to charge you favourite gadgets.
Pretty different, hey? Each piece is also movable so you can make it even more original by creating your own shapes.
A fun and great looking product that will save you money and give you that nice warm feeling to know that you’re helping to save the planet too.
It was designed by French genius, Vivien Muller and is not yet on the market but we’ll keep you posted.

Here’s a handy gadget for your holidays, or anytime really. It’s a watch that can also give you mini weather forecasts for the next 12 to 24 hours – you need never be caught out when deciding what to wear again.
The Meteo Weather Forecast Watch works by measuring barometric pressure trends and then converts all the complicated stuff into four easy-to-read icons – sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy and rainy.
There’s also a stopwatch, calendar and alarm functions. And if you get caught in the rain? No worries! It’s water resistant up to 30 meters – I think it would just about get you through even the most tropical storms.
You can pick one up for £39.99 at Oregon Scientific.

If boredom is a big issue for you, especially if you do a lot of travelling, this is the gadget for you. Forget iPods and PSPs, this is the accessory for the summer. It’s the MP4 Film and Music Playing Watch. Think James Bond without the missiles.
Ok, it’s only 4GBs but you can still store about six full-length films or 1000 songs or even 160 music videos on it. Not bad for some wrist action. What’s more, for those of you who are worried about how you could possibly watch your favourite movie on an average tiny watch screen, think again. This watch has an impressive 1.8 inch screen, without looking ridiculous and it comes with earphones and built-in mini speakers to complete your watch-ing experience (sorry, couldn’t resist that one).
If you fancy keeping other files on your watch, you can do that too. Its handy USB port connects to your computer with the cable provided so that you can also carry documents and pictures around with you. And if you have a meeting and you’ve forgotten your pen? No problems, it’s also a voice recorder!
You can pick one up at Paramount Zone for £49.95. The overall watch is black but you can choose from a smart silver screen-surround or a more fun blue.
The best bit is that you always take your watch with you so you won’t have to worry about remembering to pack your MP3 player, USB stick and dictaphone (I’m not entirely sure that anybody even uses dictaphones anymore but if you do, you can relieve yourself of a few grams) and, as one comment on the site says, it’s less likely to get pilfered than an MP3 player which you carry in your bag or pocket.
