As I was browsing Reevoo, trying to find a present, I decided to see which were the top rated DVDs to help me find something. I have to say that they were the strangest collection of titles and definitely not what I expected so I thought I?d share them with you all.
The top 10 most highly rated DVDs* on Reevoo.com were:
1. Long Way Down
2. Gavin & Stacey
3. Dirty Dancing
4. Sharpe
5. Shaun the Sheep ? The Christmas Giftset DVD

7. Lazytown
8. Genesis - When In Rome

Pretty odd, hey? Unfortunately we can?t control people?s taste but it got me thinking about my favourite movies.
If you had to pick your top three movies of all time, what would they be?
If you’re heart’s still in the eighties with jelly shoes and hypercolour t-shirts, then you might be a little disappointed by this announcement.
Classics like The Goonies, Gremlins and Beetlejuice are about to be Blu-rayed up and re-released. It all sounds great until you think about it. Some of the best bits about those films are the grey and fuzziness. So we’ll either be able to see just how badly they were filmed in the first place or it’ll ruin the fuzzy magic.
But I do like the fact that it’s made me want to dig out all my old video tapes and watch them again. Who knew that Mikey Walsh would turn out to be a tiny hairy man a few years later…
If you are actually really excited about seeing your old faves in high-definition, get yourself a Blu-ray player but read all the Blu-ray player reviews before you do.

Remember when we told you all about Near Field Communications (NFC) and how it was going to transform the way we do things?
Well the Japanese are now using it to promote movies through movie posters. Japanese mobile carrier, SoftBank has joined forces with Gemalto and NTT Data to develop the "smart poster system".
Information will now be able to be transmitted to mobile users through the posters. It’ll work a bit like our Oyster Cards in London and will send people trailers, screenshots and other free content. Mobile users just need to stand near the poster and have a credit card application installed on their NFC-enabled phones.
Previously, Japanese mobile users could get information about products and services by using 2D barcodes. However, this new move will enable content to be sent without any effort whatsoever.
The possibilities are endless with this technology. People could receive taxi numbers just by stepping into a bar, supermarkets could push out special offers as you walk past them or you could get song lyrics by walking into a gig. I’m sure you can think of lots more exciting things too…

There’s a real treat in this week’s Green Piece. You may have heard about it already but I thought it still needed a mention. Wind-up radio king Trevor Baylis has upped the ante to bring us a wind-up media player. We had an interesting stat about batteries in a previous Green Piece - just to recap, according to WRAP, around 600 million UK household batteries (22,000 tonnes) – the equivalent weight of 110 Jumbo Jets – are sent to landfill unnecessarily every year. So anything that we can do to alleviate the environment of that burden would be a good thing. That’s why this media player is so great. For one minute of winding, you get 40 minutes of audio play. When fully charged, which you can also do through the USB port on your computer, you’ll get around 20 hours of constant music, or around 10 hours of video play.
It only has a 2GB memory but you can use SD cards and it’s got a 1.8 inch, full colour screen. OK, so it’s not the biggest of screens but if you’re all for helping the environment, it’s not too much of a sacrifice.
Back onto the positives – It’s got a FM radio, it can act as an audio and voice recorder and it can even charge your mobile phone. If that wasn’t enough, it also has an awesome torch!
I think this is a great green gadget that will solve the endless MP3 charging saga in the evenings. Just think of all the batteries and hassle you’ll be saving. They’re £129.95 at the Ethical Superstore.
