Numatic sweep the board as Dyson sucks

love-hetty-and-henry-numatic

In a shocking piece of research from Reevoo, Dyson were left off of the top five vacuum cleaners.

Consumers rated Numatic’s Hetty as the number one machine:

1. Numatic Hetty
2. Bissell 3760E
3. Miele S5260
4. Numatic Henry
5. Miele S5210

Who would have thought?! This must be a pretty big blow for Dyson, who have been market leaders for the past decade or so. Although, it might be a great way for them to identify the areas in which they can improve to make their machines even better.

I have to say that I’m rather proud of the fact that I own a Henry. I’ve had him for around 10 years and he’s been great. Wouldn’t change him for the world. I’ll even forgive Hetty for coming in above him.

So where do Dyson need to improve? It seems that a lot of shoppers have trouble moving them around. There are lots of reviews complaining about their weight and the height of some of the models. Other people find their hoses too short, that they are too noisy, that they have a short life-span and that they have to be emptied too often. Although the last point may be because they pick up a lot of stuff.

Going on the positives, consumers did like the designs of the Dysons and the fact that they were very powerful.

We also need to mention that Miele did really well here too. They got two products in the top five and almost all of the reviews for both the models mentioned the fact that they had superior suction.

So it seems that Numatic and Miele are the vacuums to go for. If you don’t agree with the Dyson comments I’ve picked out, you can check out all the other Dyson reviews.

I was looking on the net to trying to identify which hoover (which make) has the most powerful/the best suction power. I have a VAX at the moment, at the beggining was ok, but now after alomst one year, it’s rubish. I have carpets in my home and the hoover leaves some of the dirt behinf (bits and bobs). I can move them around so easily with my hand, but the hoover just won’t suck them. I need a hoover with the most powerful suction power there is, to be able to actually extract the dirt and dust and everything from the carpet (especially that I am asthmatic and my little child might get it too). Please advise if you think you could help me in deciding which one would be the best. Many thanks!

Hi,

Glad to help!

If you have asthma and you’re worried about your daughter, it’s probably best to look for hypoallergenic machines with HEPA filters (high-efficiency particulate air filters). These reduce the number of allergens escaping from the vacuum cleaner. With this in mind, one of the most powerful hypoallergenic “suckers” on the market at the moment is the Miele Solution HEPA 5281 which has excellent reviews although it is a little pricey at £197.

If you’re looking for an upright vacuum, you could go for the Sebo Automatic 9559GB X1.1 which is also praised for its suction. However, some reviewers do say that it’s a little heavy. This one is also quite pricey at £170.

If you’re after something a little cheaper, the Miele S4211 is £119. It’s lightweight and very quiet, according to its owners. It too has great reviews for power and suction.

If you’re not too bothered about the vacuum being hypoallergenic, go for great all-rounder, Hetty. Reviewers hardly have a bad word to say about this vacuum and it’s only £89.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need any more info.

Whatever you do avoid the Miele. My very expensive ($1200 US) 4 year old Miele has been repaired twice under warranty and the cost to repair it NOW is half the purchase price ($550 US to REPAIR.) I’m on this site trying to decide on buying another expensive vacuum or just buy a cheap one every couple years…
