Holidays are one of the things we take the longest time deciding on, as unlike most things we buy, we don’t have the option to take it back. Unfortunately, the minute you book there is little option to return it, let alone when you have arrived at your hotel. If you are unlucky enough and find it THAT bad you may get a complimentary voucher, but in reality the money has been spent and that is that.
Naturally customers make sure that the holiday they are getting is the right one, and they do this by reading holiday reviews that have been left by previous visitors. It is a key part of the decision making process. A brochure can display a lovely looking room and view, but what about if behind the hotel is a building site?

In direct relation to this, Trip Advisor’s review system was under scrutiny recently as an employee of a hotel chain left 106 reviews under an anonymous name, which naturally favoured his own chain of hotels. Evidently, this highlights the flaws in Trip Advisor’s review system – exposing reputable travel brands to fake and malicious reviews.
