And the gold award winner is...
Reevoo Customer Choice Gold Award Winner
This 40 litre, combination microwave oven is a worthy winner of the Consumer Choice Gold Award. Its clever use of internal space with double shelves is a huge hit with consumers. The machine heats up much faster than an oven and the sheer range of programmes makes cooking extremely flexible.
Add to that the fact that it’s easy to use and clean and it’s no wonder that the Sharp R959SLM wins the award for best microwave 2009.purchased 23 Nov 2007
+ About 50% larger (taller) cavity than most other combination ovens, so you can roast a fairly big turkey in it. There are also 2 big shelves provided for baking 2 cakes at once (or lots of buns!). We have found this a perfectly adequate replacement for a conventional built-in oven: it warms up much faster, and uses less than half the electricity. The combination of heat + microwave cooks 2 jacket potatoes in 20 minutes, and roast joints come out perfectly when you simply enter the weight and press 'Start'.
- Nothing serious - just a slight annoyance with the controls. For cooking you MUST enter the cooking time first, before setting the temperature and power levels; for the kitchen timer function you must set the time LAST.

+ It has a large capacity for roasting a 10lb bird and the two shelves make baking a 2 dish sponge cake a wiz.Baking has been even providing the dishes are turned half way through. I've been combi cooking for 25years now and this is a really good oven. It can be built into a unit and that shoud reduce any noise from the fan and magnatron, though I have had noisier ones. I quick wipe after every combi use has kept the inside reasonabley clean.
- Lots of holes on the back wall makes cleaning this area bit tricky as little pressure/water can be used so cleaning after every use is essential; even then it has discoloured. An enamel or better still a removable back wall would be a great improvement.Keeping it clean has always been a major combi oven problem. Entering the cooking time before the cooking method is counter intuitive and still gets me after a month of use.Lack of contrast and the dark colour of the panel makes reading the touch pads difficult without glasses.

+ I use my over to cook all our meals, the dual cook saves a lot of time and is easy to use. The extra oven trays make it better for baking. This is my second Sharp Microwave, I would not chose any other make.
- It only has a 99 minute timer which is not enough when cooking slow cook meats or cassaroles, that cannot be done on dual cook. They have also taken off some basic meals of their auto cook, now only doing large joints not small quanties of chops which I found useful on the last cooker.

+ Great size for families and the two internal shelves are brilliant adds great flexibility in how much/ what you can cook
- Having to turn round food half way through cooking on convection to avoid burning
